You're an interesting species. An interesting mix. You're capable of such beautiful dreams, and such horrible nightmares. You feel so lost, so cut off, so alone, only you're not. See, in all our searching, the only thing we've found that makes the emptiness bearable, is each other.
Thanks!

A Frumious Attraction - Is completed and ready to be Reviewed.

@Drache
The group was rounded out by the almost late arrivals of a flea riddled Aaenshi man with an assortment of axes and hatchets on his person, mounted atop an equally shaggy wolf. In addition to him was a scar covered, female goyle, near black instead of the standard light grey. They were silent, though if they were here, they were clearly invited. The short human, the leader, "Good, I see we're all here now. We can do names and pleasantries later, our mission is simple in concept, near impossible in execution. We head westward, sneaking through Screamer territory. Should we manage to do this without being killed or enslaved, we still need to locate this supposed city, if it is indeed real. Upon locating it, we need to infiltrate it, and learn as much about it as possible. Who are its leaders? How does its military function? Is magic popping up there as well? Are they a threat to the Ebonfort? This mission will be long, will be quite dangerous, but very, very profitable if we return alive and successful. I've had experience with Screamers near to Scream Watch, and I understand you," nodding at Raffey, "Have made this journey before, albeit from the south. So we'll go carefully, listen to your word on the matter. The mission comes first and foremost, so those of you that are here for the bloodlust," he looked at the Aaenshi on this point, "You need to keep that in check. We fight when needed, but avoiding it altogether is better."

There was a loud thundering of hoofbeats as an entire company of knights in their armor roared by and out of Scream Watch. All had eyes on their ragtag party as they passed, some smiling and wishing good luck, others sneering and rolling their eyes. "And that is our distraction. They are going to attack the nearest known camps, to distract the scouts and sentries near here on our departure. After that, we're on own." Once the company was out of sight, "Let's go. We're going to stick to the edges of Chartric Forest, so we have cover if needed. The Screamers sometimes camp in their, but quite rarely, mainly because they are a prime target for Silent Hunters."

With that, the leader kicked his horse forward, taking a northwesterly path. Raffey wondered if the Chartric Forest was really the best option, he'd followed the coast on his way in. But maybe he just had a fondness for the sands, reminding him of home. But there were more risks of being on the edges of both the plains and the forest. It was a killing field, a hunting ground, as the best predators from both worlds often crossed the border briefly for prey. And that thought, that one alone, excited the hunter. He and the others would bait out some of the deadliest creatures, with little interruption and intervention from the Screamers. Perfect.

He saw the woman, the cute half cat, and noticed she had no mount, and clearly the knights had no intention of providing her one, a detail the leader seemed to have overlooked. The goyle could fly with the group, and the Aaenshi, that just darted out of the village with a hoot had the wolf. Raffey offered a hand down at the woman, "Wan' a lif'? Lots of groun' to be runnin' over an' we dun need ya slowin' us down. Dibney here can carreh de both of us easeh."

He took this time to look her over, drinking in her feminine features. Perhaps a bit thin and slender, but that wasn't a bad thing to him. He found himself wondering if she'd hate her tail being pulled... Probably would, most cats did. "Da name's Raffey, by da way."
@HHShetland - Typically with custom races, I ask that you either send me, or post in the OOC, a basic writeup of the race. If it has an image, attach it, and include things of import (doesn't need to be a full writeup, an example of a full writeup can be found in the dragons or sylphs in the wiki). Things of import can be how the race was affected by the Death of Magic 300 years ago, when the race is considered adult, how long they live, notable features, and special abilities. This is typically kept separate from the Character Sheet.
but how does this work, exactly? Do we post RP ideas on this thread and hope people like the sound of them, or do we contact individual members we like and discuss the ideas with them, or do you make RPs yourself?

Writing Protocols might help some with this. But to also summarize, you can write any story within the scope of this world, within the powers of a non-GM writer. This can be anything that might occur on a fairly normal day for your character. If your character is a blacksmith, it might be them at work, or at the tavern meeting a lass, or exploring the woods and being attacked by a bear. You can find other writers/characters in this world to write with. There are typically 3 styles of stories. Solos (just you writing about what happens to your character), Player Stories (you writing with other characters aka normal RP), and GM Run Stories/Quests (One of the 3 GMs writing with you/other characters).

As for Character Creation, I am fairly lenient. Any race can be used, even unlisted ones. Though unlisted races will need to be approved by me so they are balanced and given their Racial Bonuses and anything else deemed necessary. Most races aren't fully written up, so their racial histories and cultures are up in the air for those that wish to use them. As for lore to read, that really depends on the history you wish to put with your character, though I personally like more vague backgrounds that you can fill in through flashbacks and reveals in story. So if your character is in Ruby Banks, you might want to read the lore on Ruby Banks as well as the Ebonfort Capital, and Ebon Knights. You'll want to read Skills to see how those work when adding the skill points, and the individual magicks if you wish your character to be a mage.

And I'm always available for questions, no matter how simple or complex. Just hit me up :)

A Heart Frozen aka the Frigmount quest has begun! Featuring Rilana, Alya, Chartrose, and a whole slew of NPCs from other stories :D
@Rekaigan@Drache@Foster

Feel free to post as much as you'd like leading up to the group meeting, you can show how they heard about the expedition, how they got to Stone Crest, etc. Although I will be posting quicker, feel free to post amongst yourselves beyond a single post if you so wish, just don't get carried away on moving the plot along, I'll take care of that.

Any questions, concerns, whatever, as usual, hit me up.

And enjoy. From this date until I give you the next date, your characters are time locked, meaning no new RPs unless approved by me in advance. (Because you don't know the fates of your characters nor can you assume them safely)
Starting Date and Time: 45th Day of Ceruleo, 300 DM, Sunrise

Starting Location: Stone Crest, at the gate leading up into the Indiga Mountains

CS URLs: Alya & Rilana & Chartrose & GM

The winds howled loudly through the snow covered village of Stone Crest. Many of the residents were used to it, but this year it seemed the snow was determined to be nonstop and much heavier than in recent times. The village had been quite peaceful since the last Reckoning in Mauven, which put the village in control by Captain Iy'kayia and her company of Drow and Orcs, usurping the previous residents of Humans and Deep Dwarves. The captain found herself standing there, bundled in the specially made wolverine furs lining her armor, scimitars hanging in their scabbards at her hips. She'd been made aware of this expedition when Lord Knight Svarak's squire, Tomas, arrived with various orders, and she decided to join up.

She knew there wouldn't be another attempt at a Reckoning for at least two more seasons, so she could risk it for the fun of the journey. And it would look good for a possible promotion, after all, the current Warden overseeing Stone Crest was getting quite old. This would be a chance to truly test her skills before challenging him. She scratched at the ear of her mount for this trip, a rather large ram, courtesy of the Frost Trolls further up in Indiga. They'd originally had horses slated for this journey, but southern horses just couldn't cut the cold or the snow. The only horse joining them would be ridden by the new Envoy. She'd arrived a few days earlier with Tomas, and was apparently in charge of the entire expedition. Some old law from over three hundred years ago. That disgusted the captain. The woman was just a mere civilian, yet would outrank all of them. And Envoy wasn't a position that could be won by blood either, so she couldn't simply kill the woman to move up.

Tomas wasn't joining them, as he'd given her all the appropriate paperwork, muttering something about having to cover Svarak's work, whatever that meant, before returning to the capital. Another drow woman began walking over, and Iy'kayia felt her frown deepen. Warden Knight Drisceya. She'd managed to join in the expedition despite her high rank, due to her extreme knowledge of the Underdark. There were no others more adept in traveling through there. It was simply the Knights being extra cautious, unsure if the passes would be accessible during the winter. It irked the captain having yet another person that outranked her, especially another drow woman.

The warden said nothing, climbing into the sagging saddle of a ram, smiling like a spider as only drow can. After several long moments, "Well done on winning your Reckoning, I hear you suffered very minimal losses."

The captain grinned slightly at the recognition, "Thank you Warden." She almost bragged, but thought better of it.

"Captain is a good rank for you, I'm sure that it is one you will hold for a very long time."

The compliment felt like a slap across the face to the captain, suggesting that she didn't have the strength to go any higher. It infuriated her, and she could do nothing but accept it. "Thank you Warden."

The pair watched in silence as the rest of the group slowly gathered together over the course of the next stretch. Civilians had been allowed, and even encouraged to come, and the Knights would even foot the bill. Though it still seemed as though many had the common sense to not attempt something so dangerous as a mountain trek mid winter. The knights only had four representatives attending, the envoy, and four other civilians, bringing the group to a total size of nine. There was a mute girl with a young wolf accompanied by a drunkard hunter, a mercenary, and a rather fat Homunculus that was a recognized medic from the capital. The other two knights were both unranked, though one was brought in for he knew many languages of the races that they might encounter en route, both human men.

After the entire group was assembled, the unranked knight, Beran, asked a simple question, "Why's there another ram saddled?" A quick glance confirmed that it was so, in addition to the unmounted rams that were being brought solely for the purpose of carrying supplies.

Iy'kayia rolled her eyes, "That squire of Svarak's probably messed up his paperwork. Never trust a squire."

Then a voice that many knew boomed out, chuckling lightly as he spoke, "Oh come now, if there's anyone I trust it would be that squire of mine." Lord Svarak was seated upon the chimney of a house near the gate, with no indication of how long he'd been there watching them in silence. All the Knights grew wide eyed in their surprise, no expecting the most powerful knight to be here. He hopped down lightly, glancing at each member of the party in turn, his eyes linger on Rilana's for just a moment longer than anyone else's. "Well Envoy, are we ready to go?" With that, he climbed into his saddle with feline ease, his standard Ebonsteel shining, contrasted by his crystalline greatsword strapped to his back. An observant person would notice he wore no extra furs, and seemed perfectly comfortable in the frigid cold.
Trix found herself even more wary of the woman's magic. Mind control? That was utterly terrifying. As far she could tell her own magic was fairly harmless, but that had endless possibilities. Could she make people commit crimes? Harm others? Themselves? And she could tell it affected animals, en masse. She now wondered if it had affected her and she hadn't even realized it. This power was far too strong, if it was in the wrong hands, it could cause so much devastation. Part of her wanted to rush to the nearest Knight and turn her in.

Except the woman knew of her own magic as well, and if the rumors were true, she'd be signing her own death warrant. But there was also the fact that this woman seemed fairly harmless in personality. She didn't come off as cruel, hateful, or anything of the sort. Maybe she was the perfect person for this magic. She did seem to genuinely want to help, even from her earlier display. It seemed, after all, that she was still learning her magic too, and that made her a bird of the same feather.

No, this woman shouldn't be feared. She seemed to be a good person, and her power needed to be respected. For her safety, and that of others. "We should be going, don't want those critters to return, or any others, right?" She stood and turned back to the village, "I'm heading back to the inn. If you ever find yourself in need, or just wish to... discuss things best kept from prying ears, you can find me normally in Ruby Banks. I have a shop there. A fellow," she gulped, having never said the word aloud, "Mage is always welcome."

And with that, she started back towards Green Fall, still worried. Magic was popping up everywhere, and mages were disappearing. But maybe she could help one avoid that fate, and herself as well. The pups were right at her side, escorting her along, ever the faithful companions. "I think we'll leave for home tomorrow, sound good?" She chuckled softly as Remus yipped excitedly in response, not sure he actually understood the words.
