It just feel im not smart enough to keep up, its kind of depressing and self defeating to think that way, but I just cant keep up. Im not by any means saying that things should be easier, but the hints shouldn't be as subtle and invisible as they are, if there even are any.
Your ability to solve puzzles IC has no bearing on your intelligence or ability to keep up. Heck, I suck at puzzles. I'm almost never the one to come up with an arc-advancing idea. It happens to all of us.

I thought MR was all about flexibility? That there were more than one ways to figure something out?
MR is all about a lot of things. It just depends on the arc in question, or sometimes even the specific point of the arc in question. And even if there is flexibility, that flexibility may not stretch to a proposed idea anyways, and work is done to guide everything to something more realistic, more efficient, or anything else that may apply.
