It is certainly not 'optimal', but it *is* doable, depending on what you want to do with it. You could go swords or valor bard and play them more like a warrior with some magical ability

Galahad Caradoc

Galahad sputtered and cursed as the Leviathan sent him flying with a blast of water, armor crashing against the ground as he tumbled like a wet sack- a sack clad in steel, but a sack all the same. A gauntleted hand roughly ripped the helmet off of his face as Galahad hacked out seawater and pawed at his face to clear his vision. They'd barely scratched her.

"You've got to be kidding me!" Galahad cursed aloud as the Leviathan pontificated at them, his replies practically lost in the storm. "What sort of Etrosdamned trial is this?!"

Any grumbles and complaints he had were quickly lost as the Eidolon began to channel its next spell- a tidal wave that would surely kill them all. The blood drained from his face as he watched the barrier of water wrap around the Lady of Whorls, Izayoi's shockwave having seemingly little effect. They were strewn all over, there was no chance to run. They had to make their stand here, break the spell or else they'd die.

Galahad quickly scrambled to his feet, his head whirling around, looking for the others, looking for options. Some of the others were already getting up and moving on their own. Good. He saw Izayoi sheathing her blade for another one of her fearsome draws. Also good. Next to him he spotted a familiar looking instrument, a few feet away was its owner. Lunging for the instrument, Galahad grabbed it and thrust it into Ciradyl's hands.

"We need to strike hard and now. Imbue us with power." Galahad demanded as he began to sprint back into the fight. The air whipped around them as Rudolf zipped past him, erupting forward with a flaming black lance. Had they not been in a life or death situation, Galahad would've been most impressed by the form. Praise would have to be held off until later though, as his eyes tracked Rudolf's angle of attack and where his black lance's thrust would land.

Armored feet skidded to a halt next to the samurai as Galahad pointed the spear point of his halberd forward, his voice already straining as he began gather electricity into the palm of his hand. "You see where we need to strike, right? Time it with mine. 3 seconds."

With that, the armored dragoon leaped, enough electricity trailing behind him that it looked like a lightning bolt was traveling in reverse course from the ground and back into the sky where it belonged. The bolt cut a wicked, jagged path through the air, reaching its crest as Galahad flipped himself in the air.

One.

Wyrmfang flipped in Galahad's hand as he reversed his grip, holding it high above his head. A signature strike if Galahad ever had one- one meant to slay the most powerful of dragons and beasts, to sunder adamantine scale and skull alike. Enough electricity surged through the halberd to make it's shape unrecognizable, the Dragoon practically holding a bolt of primordial lightning in his hands. He reared back, his eyes narrowed in the whipping winds, his fore hand guiding his aim.

Two.

He saw it, the wake left by Rudolf's attack, the sheer speed of it all. His eyes tracking the dark lance. Galahad seemingly slowed himself in the air, catching himself as he waited with bated breath- waiting for the impact. He heard the cry of the young warrior's voice, and saw the strike land.

Three.

A herald of lightning and thunder, Galahad put the entirety of his strength into his throw, his arm whipping forward and loosing his bolt of lightning. Wyrmfang streaked through the sky, forcing it to split and make way, crashing down towards the Eidolon and its barrier. Moments later, Galahad fell toward the ground as well, residual lightning trailing behind him as he followed the wake of his own weapon, bracing himself to make impact and to drive the weapon through the barrier and deep into the blasted Leviathan's skull.
Rathello

Putting it all behind them for now seemed to be the best move, one that Rathello was more than happy to do for the moment. This whole hacker Jester thing went well over his head, and it wasn't exactly as though they had a way to deal with him anyway- after all, what were they going to do, fight him? He'd just cheat his way to victory. The much better move would be to put it all behind them and get back to questing.

The others, sans the ranger, seemed to mostly be in the same boat, which worked out, it was nice to play in a group from time to time, even if some were newer to the game. The party had seemingly settled on a quest to the ice castle. Rathello didn't remember if he'd ever paid that dungeon any serious amount of attention, so it'd be a fun learning experience once again.

"I'm down for it if you guys are." he nodded, refilling his consumables from his guild storage chest. "Escort missions in this game aren't as bad as missions from other games-at least the NPCs in ToE have logic and respond to vocal commands, usually anyway."

Rathello glanced over as a newcomer approached them, a bard by the looks of it asking to join them. Rathello didn't exactly mind- bards were handy as a support, and would definitely take some of the pressure off of Elian and Goibnu, but they already had the two to support. Plus, with their ranger gone, the party was a bit short of DPS. Rathello could scrap with the best of them, but he was more designed to sustain damage for the party, and while Uriel and Claudia provided solid damage, a bard was a far cry from a ranger when it came to replacing their damage output.

"I think we'll need more DPS first, a monk or a fighter might fit the bill." Rathello spoke, glancing at the others in the party, expressing his opinions without necessarily putting a definitive 'no' out into the air. "No offense," Rath apologized to the bard anyway. "The Ice castle is tough for a reason. The monsters there are tough and have a lot of health."

This one next, when I wake up.

sorry for the delay, slipped my mind!

The Fafnir was obviously not expecting a heavy MAS such as the Secutor to be able to react as fast as it did- ironic as the Fafnir itself was a fast reacting heavy unit, perhaps it should have expected the retaliation. The Secutor's Class 3 shield took the brunt of the Fafnir's dive, shattering underneath the weight of the plasma talons, but only registering minor damage to the shoulder armor. The backfist in response sent the Fafnir reeling, the machine half tumbling as its shields cracked underneath the heat and pressure of the strike. A lesser pilot may not have been able to notice and react to the heavy cannon coming into play, but for all his hubris, the pilot of the Fafnir was at least fast on his feet. Thrusters flared as bright as the sun as the heavy Coalition suit dove to get out of the way, the shell destroying its shield and ripping off one of the mech's arms.

Sparks leaked from open machinery and atmosphere vented out of an opened corner of the cockpit, one of its rear thrusters flaring irregularly as it tried to correct its course, flying in a wide arc as it sought to gain distance from the Secutor. One could almost sense the pilot's frustration as it attempted to recall its drones- only to watch as they were cut down by a UEE ace. Seeing the writing on the wall, the Fafnir seemed to give up its attack on the UEE Carrier, but was seemingly ready to take at least one of these pain-in-the-ass machines with him. Another burst of HKP rounds splashed against the Secutor's armor in attempt to keep the heavier machine at bay as the Fafnir reactivated its plasma talons- though the talons on the left foot seemed to not be receiving power correctly.

Another sudden boost took the Fafnir careening towards the Rook in his Venator- the shiny display piece seemingly a suitably expensive target to take down in his fatalistic dive.

<<Hey Boss, I think Hex is being stupid and trying to pad her kill score>> The younger pilot tattled, her voice a lilted snicker as they watched the Blackout rocket out of the debris field, the Vulture and Sparrowhawk screeching past as they made a beeline to the Coalition ships. Her statement was punctuated by another proximity warning as another pair of plasma beams cut through the big empty, the Roanoke scoring another hit on one of the Coalition frigates. Secondary explosions began to rip the frigate apart from the inside as the beams struck something critical, leaving just one frigate and the Coalition cruiser left for the two MAS.

Sabine whooped and hollered over the comms as she took her Sparrowhawk into a dive, the Sparrowhawk's ailerons leaving trails of ice and dust as she cut through the gap between the ships- their point defense systems now having to limit and control their fire more precisely to avoid friendly fire. Mashing a control stud, the Sparrowhawk shifted back to its humanoid form as Sabine pulled the trigger on her plasma rifle as quickly as she could, the weapon's barrel glowing cherry red as she targeted the point defense systems. To add insult to injury, her own racks of claymores emptied as well, Kodos' missile barrage striking shortly afterwards, the warheads streaking towards the two remaining ships like a swarm of angry bees.

Over two dozen flaming flowers bloomed and died against the hulls of the Coalition cruiser and frigate, debris and atmosphere flying outward as the explosions rocked both hulls. Smoke belched from open wounds, and the frigate began to dip as it lost control of its azimuth thrusters. The ship rocked as Sabine landed the Sparrowhawk on top of it, weakened hull plating crunching beneath the impact as she more or less looked directly at the Frigate's bridge. The bright pink Sparrowhawk flashed the occupants of the bridge a peace sign in one hand, as the other lifted the rifle and placed a shot directly through the observation window.

<<I think that's it for the frigate, just one big lug left to deal with.>> Sabine cackled as she pointed up at the remaining cruiser, glancing around her as escape pods began to spring from the frigate she stood on. Sparks flew from overtaxed thrusters as the cruiser attempted to make a sharp turn to begin fleeing, its remaining point defense cannons offering only a pittance of resistance as it fired at the Vulture.

<<I'm out of ordnance- ready to RTB.>> Sabine called out over the comms as she glanced over at Vulture. <<You got the last one, boss?>>

Gerard Biserus

Spooks are always unusual. We are transferring a VIP though, that's probably why they have all this security. Gerard replied across their mental channel as the small grouped trudged up the stairs, the princess in the 'center' of their little group. The house itself didn't seem particularly large, just a single flight to the upper level, where another pair of spooks awaited them outside what seemed to be an office room. It almost felt like a clown car with how many people they fit in here- but if this was going to be security that took the Princess off their hands, Gerard supposed it made a bit of sense. As they approached the door, one of the guards merely glanced at them before pushing open the door.

The office itself was a small affair- obviously one of the larger rooms in this building, but that wasn't saying a whole lot. The small group of them fit in there easily enough, A plainly decorated office room with a pair of windows overlooking the street- blinds closed, of course. The back of the room had a desk where the man named 'Dirk' sat, a tired looking, almost gaunt looking man in his 30s pouring over some sort of communications on a pad. A jet black goatee covered his jaw and an equally black set of shades were currently resting on his forehead- the only source of color on his bald head as a pair of piercing green eyes shot up towards them. As tired as he looked, Dirk was clearly no office worker, even beneath the spook's black suit the scars and callouses on his hands were easily visible. In each back corner another suited spook stood guard.

"A lot of security here." Gerard chuckled as he glanced back and forth. Dirk shrugged as he motioned them in.

"Well, there's someone shooting down airships without our permission. I'd say heightened security is necessary." Dirk replied offhandedly as he stood up from his desk. Being a spook certainly didn't suit this man- Gerard might've said. The man wasn't huge or broad, but he was almost as tall as Morden- not quite subtle. As the WARDEN's filtered into the room, Dirk beckoned Collette forward so he could take a look at her. He glanced between her and his pad as he was seemingly comparing information between the two, the princess shifting awkwardly on her feet in the relative silence.

Okay, I take it back. I'm starting to feel weird about this too. Gerard admitted as he shifted uncomfortably. Perhaps he just wasn't used to the silence.

The examination went on for a few minutes longer, Dirk pulling off the princess' cap as he continued to check- quietly murmured voices between him and Collette as she answered questions to more or less prove her identity. Finally, Dirk seemed to be satisfied. With a nod, he glanced back over to the Barghests assembled before him. "Looks like things check out. We'll take her from here." Dirk confirmed, lowering his shades to cover his eyes.

Collette turned back to the WARDENs and offered them a small smile, "Well, I guess this is where we part ways." she said with a slight not. "Its certainly been... an experience... I know you probably don't care for it, but thank you all anyway."

"Stand by for a moment, Barghests. We'll begin debrief shortly." Dirk said plainly as he grabbed Collette and moved her into the next room, the princess' eyes widening from the sudden and perhaps surprising roughness of the motion. "Huh- Wait- I-"

Gerard blinked in concern, but not at the handling of the princess, rather he glanced back behind them. Hey gu- The way his eyes moved it was obvious he was trying to say something over their mental communication channel- though no one heard anything. Their connection through the Astral Mist had been cut. More specifically, it felt as though all the Mist in the room had been suddenly shunted away- as though blown away by wind if that were possible. The mist was slowly filtering back in, which meant they'd have access to their magic again in a minute or so. Gerard recalled some news from his family's company- a means to temporarily disable the mages and magitech of the Vangar- still in the developmental stages. A way for regular infantry to fight back against the Vangar power armor and royal knights.

As he realized this and opened his mouth to say something, as the door behind them opened a crack. There was a familiar metallic clink and a flashbang rolled between their feet.
Galahad Caradoc

Galahad wasn't particularly happy about the situation, but somehow he wasn't surprised. The Grove had deprived the Kirins of their white mage for a reason after all. The trip to Costa Del Sol, and the cliff outside of it had been a calm trip, almost picturesque, though Galahad wasn't particularly in a mind to enjoy the scenery as they approached the shrine. A ritual later and the Lady of the Whorl appeared before them, and then promptly began attacking them.

"Ah yes, of course the trial of water involves fighting a sea monster, how could I have thought otherwise?" Galahad cursed as he dove into cover along with the others. Galahad thought briefly back on the Grovemaster Isolde's words 'it has little to do with the presence of a healer. Tis merely that the intent behind the trial is already known by Neve, and it wouldn't be much of a test if one possesses the answer before it even begins.' Galahad scoffed, was Isolde was stringing them along and spouting utter bullshit, or there was something else beyond fighting the Leviathan? He didn't particularly have the time to figure it out- as it seemed Leviathan was dead set on making them fight her. He offered a nod in agreement to Izayoi, "I'm starting to come around to her way of diplomacy as well. Etrosdamned Grovemasters."

It seemed they'd fight after all. Galahad drawing back from the cover he'd taken even as he watched Rudolf spring forward. The lad had the right idea of it, the only thing to do was to move forward. "Fine then, if the beast think we've come to challenge it, then we'll give it a fight for the ages!" Galahad barked, as he tore the covering from his halberd, brandishing the heavy weapon in his hands. Bracing his weapon against himself, Galahad took a few quick steps forward before he planted his feet and leaped off the ground, stone and earth cracking beneath him as he soared upwards. Leviathan, divine beast, sea serpent- in a way, serpents weren't too different from dragons. Scales, long neck, breath attack, big. Theoretically, the methods of fighting Leviathan were perhaps at least similar in concept to slaying dragons- though Galahad doubted Leviathan was as simple minded as a dragon. A dragon, for its strength and impressiveness was little more than a beast, an oversized, element breathing beast, but still a beast. A Eidolon was probably not quite as simple of a foe, it was able to speak to them, so it clearly held intelligence beyond a mere monster.

The halberd spun in the air as Galahad reangled himself, almost braking in the air. Galahad took a breath, the materia on his gauntlet and weapon glowing as he placed a hand over the blade of his weapon, the large blade crackled to life as electricity coated it. Steel glinted in the light as the weapon raised well above his head. As he reached the apex of his jump, Galahad swung down with his halberd, using its momentum to guide him towards the head of the massive Leviathan. If he'd timed it right, his strike would land moments after Rudolf.
ECHO DOMAIN - PLATFORM #2884

"Elaboration. Mult-Spectrum scan excluding active probing." The Echo platform intoned almost monotonously, oblivious towards any tones of exasperation or outrage. The various platforms that consisted of Echo continued slowly plodding forward regardless, as their formation continued to move, their respective eyes sweeping across the different angles of view as they advanced. It was perhaps unfortunate that they had assigned Echo for a task regarding the Etheric- while individual Unztalidge organisms may have been able to detect etherealism, it wasn't exactly a capability that the machine bodies it inhabited were capable of- outside of the more 'visible' examples of etherics like the ball of energy that had dodged in the last mission.

The body caught on the Microform's scanner was quickly observed, information being recorded to its databanks for later processing. While the sight might of been nauseating or perhaps disturbing for some, the Microform observed it with mechanical indifference, merely reporting its presence to the squad.

The moan that they heard was something considerably more tangible, Echo's various weapon systems raising even as Salvator made the call. Unfortunately, from its current position the Endoform wouldn't be able to point its weapon forward without flagging half the squad, instead the barrel of the weapon pointed up towards the hole in the ceiling, should threats come from above. The Endoform itself was ready to move forward should it need to begin soaking enemy fire, but would likely have difficulty tracking etheric targets anyway, so Echo would let those more capable in that regard focus on the main approach. The Microforms on the other hand were much more capable of getting their weapons on the door, though most of them focused on maintaining the squad's security and watched the flanks

"Report. Echo status green. Maintaining security."

The door itself didn't seem difficult to breach, though given the nature of their approach, something like breaching charges or the like may not be appropriate for their advance.
I've been dealing with some vehicle issues, but I should be able to get something up tonight

<<Go! Go! Go!>>

<<Get under him!>>

<<Claymores away!>>

On the far side beneath the destroyer, the remaining pair of Sentries were quick to fly underneath the hull and let loose a flurry of missiles, their autocannons flaring streams of fire as the pilots attacked, emboldened by the presence of a 101st ace. The remaining Fenrirs broke left and right, juking and attempting to dodge, as the third drew its combat blade to counter the Shrike's saber. The blade missed its mark, the saber didn't. One of the remaining Fenrir's was enveloped in the overlapping explosions of a trio of claymores and the last one attempted to retreat back into the debris field, missing an arm and leg, its head unit too damaged to allow for proper targeting.

The remaining Fenrir's erratic piloting took it on a near crash course with Braide's Venator, its sensors too damaged to notice that the UEE pilot was on top of it until they were practically touching. Braide's sensors picked up a pair of hastily sent out pings- one was an SOS ping, the other an extremely haphazard white-flag ping, though despite it attempt at surrender, the remaining arm on the Fenrir still went for its combat blade at its side.

<<Fuck yeah!>>
<<That's right! Run Capitalist scum!>>

The Fafnir that had been streaking towards Kilmer and Braide found itself suddenly engaged by the Blackout's sniper cannon and funnels, as well as the Secutor moving in to intercept it. It broke left as it attempted to dodge the incoming cannon round, but reacted too late as the Blackout's 90mm shell struck its plasma cannon center mass. The heavy plasma cannon sparked, and the Fafnir was forced to pause long enough to reach up and rip the cannon out of its housing, tossing it aside as it exploded in a fireball of orange and purple.

Its momentum stopping for only a moment, the Fafnir was quick to reverse and boost again, tracking a wide arc as it attempted to get away from the funnels, shooting down one of them as it twisted and re-engage on the intercepting heavy mech. A pair of funnel drones deployed from its shoulders flying to towards the Shrike and Venator, targeting weakpoints with autocannon shells and attempting to keep the two at two lighter machines at bay, as the Fafnir moved in to engage the Secutor, opening up with a short salvo from its HPK cannon before initiating a swirling dive with its plasma talons extended.

"No promises! Now I feel like I have to go looking for it!" Sabine sang into the comms as she streaked through the debris field. Her course was damn near dizzying, as she zipped around an asteroid, through a pair of crashing starship plates, through a field of microparticles, shields flaring the whole time as muted proximity alarms continued to flash in the corners of her HUD. To its credit, the remaining Garmr was undisturbed by the loss of its wingman, continuing to pursue the Sparrowhawk as though it had a one track mind.

Flicking a pair of switches, she shut off the inertial dampeners on the Sparrowhawk before throwing it into a 180 turn, flipping onto its 'back' as she leveled her plasma cannon at the remaining Garmr. A trio of autocannon shells streaked past her cockpit, which shuddered as a fourth cracked across the surface of her energy shield, shattering it. The woman ground her lip as she focused in as she pulled on the stick, trying to line up her targeting reticle as she continued to boost backwards and dodge through debris and incoming fire. "C'mon you little bitch, show me the- Money!" Sabine jammed the firing stud, the Sparrowhawk pulling the trigger on its cannon, sending a lance of plasma streaking through the vapor trails of Spiker rockets as the Garmr loosed its entire rack of rockets, trying to score a kill on the nimble Sparrowhawk. Plasma melted through thickened armor and cockpit before striking the Garmr's reactor core. The rockets caught debris and empty void as the Sparrowhawk twisted and boosted away, the cored remains of the Garmr slowly drifting away into the debris field.

As the Watchdog fired on the remaining Fenrirs, pulling back towards the safety of their cruiser, Vulture's targeting computer screamed warning into his eyes and ears as a bright pink Sparrowhawk began to fly near his line of fire, plasma saber streaking as Sabine took a swipe against a retreating Fenrir. Around him, lines lit up again as the Roanoke locked targets and fired another volley of plasma fire at the Coalition ships.

"Hey boss, bet the others can mop up the Coalie ace easy enough- feel like hunting some real big game?" Sabine laughed as her machine streaked towards the remaining Coalition ships, weaving through AA fire and flak as she made a beeline for the surface of the Coalition cruiser, where she'd be too close for the point defense weapons to fire on her. By this point, the remaining UEE destroyer was finally in range of the Coalition ships, it too adding its weapons to the mix. A pair of heavy shipbusting torpedos barreling their way through the debris field towards the remaining cruiser and frigate.

<<Vulture. Sarret.>> Sagan's comms crackled to life as the Roanoke's Captain contacted him. <<Sitrep: 5th Fleet has successfully broken through several points on the Coalition lines, Coalie fleet is starting to fall back, landings will begin within the hour. Clear the board then RTB to prep for Phase 2. How copy?>>
