Why is this 8/10 RP's here? Another tenth is based on existing animes, and the rest dies within a few IC posts (if any are posted)
Why? I don't see any interest in them at all.
Because low quality allows for high quantity. The good RPers can only handle one or two RP
s at a time, whereas the various Anime Marysue Academies don't really involve any content so their players can spread out over several RP's without breaking a sweat.
And most RP's die young because that is the way it was meant to be. It takes a whole lot of elements lining up at just the right times to make an RP last. The main RP I am involved in right now, Precipice of War, had been going on for four years because of this sort of luck.
Now, I can't say that this is the formula for a successful RP, and I don't know if this is true with other long-lasting RP's, but this is the one I know so I can tell you how it lived. First, it was shitty when it began so we didn't have to dedicate that much effort. Second, several of us stuck with it and got better at writing in the process. Third, the major personalities in our group work really well together, and we all take it seriously enough to keep it in the air. I'm not sure how easily it is to just up and duplicate that sort of thing on a whim.
All you can do is keep plugging away and improve yourself as you go along.
