I set up a call for a judge in the Headquarters Thread.

Yo. If you don't find me lacking, i can be the judge. For all my sluggish activity in my current fights, i'll still be able to take responsibility and resolve a dispute quick if the need arises
I was actually thinking we should have done a scripted tutorial battle a long time ago to give people a more hands on look at how a battle goes and what not to do. I thought of a character for this just yesterday who's called My-Te Star. My-Te's weapon of choice is the "all powerful" vibrosword. His power is immortality so he can always come back from his last lethal mistake, only to make another one.

*sigh*

Didn't we already go over the concept of vibroswords in the last iteration of the multiverse? XD

That aside, i like your idea of a tutorial battle. It'd be useful to also have some commentary included in each post, explaining why and how exactly a move was executed.

Yeah, that is more for the players benefit, still I feel like it's only sporting to give your opponent -the chance- to avoid something because they know its going to be dangerous. It's like the first idea I had when seeing Arena, I was pretty much convinced I could beat the majority of people by using a sword that is actually twice the length it seems to be, but the end is invisible and impossible to detect without investing time and energy analyzing the sword, which no one would do without meta-gaming. That would essentially allow you to stab someone from twice the range they think you can, with no realistic way for them to defend themselves unless they for some reason expect to be stabbed by a sword when it's clearly out of range.

Subterfuge powers really aren't what the Arena is about, the Arena is about duelling in a gladiatorial sense in my opinion, because with the limitless scope of magic you could easily defeat any opponent by exploiting what they can't know about your abilities.

Well, the way i see it, there's an unwritten rule that the invisible sword and similar powers are to be included to one's arsenal at the higher power levels, where said sword wouldn't be a one-hit KO.

And, well, if you swing or stab with such a sword, there are ways for a character to dodge without metagaming: if they aren't oblivious to, lets say, such powers as firing energy waves from one's blades or short distance teleporting, they can infer that your character has a means to make up for the distance between them and preemptively dodge.

To put it this way, I'm fairly certain I could make a character with a near impossible to survive skill-set using illusion, power hiding, and magical disease/poison.

That is a pretty neat combination of powers. Don't mind if i do, i'll borrow it for my poison character. :P

Where is this FAQ thread you speak of? Ive browsed the Arena roleplay sub forum and cannot find it. Im sure Im being stupid and am not seeing it, but a link would be greatly appreciated.

Here it is.
@HexAstalaron Hmmm. You want an opponent? I doubt you are worthy but you might entertain me for a second before you die though you stand no chance, as I have soloed entire groups before of actual decent rpers.

You sound pretty arrogant. Let me beat you into the ground.
Would anyone think a comicbook-like battle would be fun to do? It would also be good practice for different poses and drawing the same character repeatedly to get better at drawing them. A written portion would still be done with the comic panel attached to each post to help illustrate was is going on even further. If the best you can do is stick figures then you won't be kicked out as long as you try. The battle would be a team based one, perhaps against a boss.

Maybe the drawings being so bad they are good could add to the charm...unless they end up so bad that they confuse us rather than help us.

im somewhat decent at drawing, but as you can see, i'm currently in progress of training my procrastination skills instead

Not unless you're connected to a special headset that transfers all of the pain to your real body and if your character dies then you die as well...but that is totally hypothetical...*nervous laughter

"...and you see, the most interesting part is that this isn't a virtual reality which simulates a life-like experience for the players - no, they are all forced to engage in TEXTUAL COMBAT! Muahahahaha!"

SAO fan: "wtf is dis shit"
<Snipped quote by Vordak>

Correct. Perhaps we need better descriptive skills.

Alright, thanks for clearing it up. Now i'll make sure you'll regret doing so and demonstrate the endangering power of the main gauche!

She doesn't need to be in front of him to stab him and that would put her more in danger of his sword while if she's on his left, his right handed sword couldn't attack her very easily.

Ok. So what exactly is the attack she is performing? Sidestepping and then angling the blade for a stab towards his chest?
