Chapter 1
The Test

"Alright, Six. This should be a simple test. Do as we tell you and we'll give you fifteen minutes outside." a man's voice said through a loudspeaker.

Six followed the voice, her eyes searching the pitch darkness of the cold chamber. She knew exactly where she was. She had been here hundreds of times for their tests. The room was practically purpose built for safely experimenting with Six's power. An old, retrofitted missile silo. It did the trick well enough.

"Six? Did you hear me?" the voice inquired after hearing no response from her.

"I heard you." she said flatly.

There was a pause in the darkness, then the voice spoke again. "We're going to open the silo. Once the sun is on you, you may begin."

Six rolled her eyes, "So you can design better implants to stick into me? I quite like having next to none as it is."

More silence. Six crossed her arms. "Did you hear me?" she then asked, mocking the scientist's tone from before.

"This isn't a choice for you Triple-Six. Do as we say or you'll be wiped. Remember you're on your last strike before that happens again." the use of her full subject number told Six the scientist wasn't trying to be friendly anymore.

"Let's get this over with..." Six said impatiently.

Six heard echoes in the tall chamber, sounds of the silo hatch unlocking. A klaxon began to blare periodically, alarming the staff on hand that the silo was opening. "Attention all staff, experiment 666-308 is underway. Security to your stations."

Six stood in the middle of the round chamber, looking up as she heard the sound of the silo hatch beginning to open. She grinned. When the first bits of sunlight begin leaking into the silo and bouncing off the mirrors placed on the underside of the hatch. Six felt the immediate effect. Her cheeks flushed as she got warmer. Her gray eyes started fading into a brown, then an muddy orange, as the reflected light was focused through a large magnifying lens near the top of the silo. Eventually those eyes began to glow ever so slightly. Six could hear the implants resting on her ears beeping, detecting the spike in her body heat.

"Limiter switched to passive. All staff be advised, Subject Triple-Six is active."

More light began pouring into the silo. As it did, Six's eyes glowed brighter and brighter. She could feel the power beginning to awaken inside of her. A tingling sensation ran up her spine as that sunlight bounced off the concrete walls of the silo and hit her body. She took in a deep breath, "Ahh~ This is what I'm talking about."

"Silo hatch is at 15 degrees, continuing to open. Test chamber now exposed to two-thousand lumens and counting. Triple-Six's core temperature climbing. Ambient temperature climbing."

Six took deep breaths, counting down the seconds until she could ignite the air around her. "I've missed this feeling~!" Six said cheerfully. It had been months since she was last activated. The temperature continued to rise.

"Silo hatch is at 30 degrees, approaching Six's flash point. Test chamber now exposed to three-thousand lumens and counting. Ignition temperatures reached in t-minus five... four..."

Six was grinning from ear to ear now. She could surpass the power that these scientists thought she had, she could burn it all if she wanted. But she held back, knowing that she could harm the other subjects if she did. Zero had warned her of that. Zero had taught Six the concept of restraint against the Project's staff. Six was sure everybody is the facility was capable of as much damage as her. It wouldn't take much to overthrow the security if they all rose up together. But it wasn't the time. So she played along.

"... three... two..."

Almost.

"... one... Subject Triple-Six is now at ignition temperatures. Whenever you're ready, Six."

She was surprised that the scientists even cared if she was ready or not. Nevertheless, it wasn't often that she got to flex her power at the staff. So she played along. The hatch continued to open, allowing more light to reach Six. That was where she'd pretend that her powers had reached their limit.

Six turned and looked up at the tinted black reinforced window where she knew the scientists were recording her. The air around Six rippled, and her simple clothing was beginning to plasticize and brown around the edges from the heat. Then, with a loud whoompf!, a vortex of flame burst out around Six, flooding the chamber with a brilliant yellow light. The sudden flare launched up the silo, the only way it could go. Large fans sucked the flames away from the lens and deposited them outside. The klaxon that had been blaring stopped as it melted from the heat. The loudspeaker was next, rather the support keeping it bolted to the chamber wall, and it smashed into the floor. The flames continued to whirl around Six, causing the first layer of reinforced glass of the observation window to ripple and flex. She was sure the staff were glad that they layered the windows after the last test. She held the flames in that spiral motion for what felt like five minutes at least, making a conscious effort to keep her temperatures leveled so they'd be convinced she was at her limit.

But the fire started to break up in patches. She felt colder and colder all of the sudden. Her vision started to blur and her chest became tighter. Her inferno was consuming all of the oxygen in the chamber. She took a deep breath and held it, reinvigorating the firestorm for a time longer before she exhaled deeply. Six let the flame go, letting it whirl on its own until it died out. She started gasping for air, choking on nothing. The fans higher up in the silo reversed to start pumping air into the chamber, and the silo hatch remained open in order to allow as much air in as possible. This was the most dangerous part of Six's experiments, running the risk of suffocating her with her own power. The airlock door which she entered through burst open, and a trio of men ran over to her as she fell to her knees, still gasping for air. They all wore breathing apparatuses, hooked up to oxygen tanks.

One man reached out to try and give her an oxygen bottle, but another stopped him. "Don't touch her. She's hot enough that your skin will fry."

The third man, clearly a member of security, kept a rifle trained on Six. She was used to having weapons pointed at her while her powers were active. But she wasn't in any condition to use her powers, not while she could hardly breathe. The man who had warned the other scientist not to touch her knelt down, making sure not to rest his knee on the hot concrete. The soles of their shoes were already leaving burnt rubber on the floor as it was. "Breathe, Six. Breathe. You did very well today."

Six looked at the scientist, seeing the shape of a grin through her blurred vision. She knew he only spoke to her softly like that so he could entice more results of her. She could incinerate him right now, all of them really. The more breaths she took, the more focused she became. That blur of a firearm became sharper as she collected herself. The security guard took a step forward, "Stand down, Triple-Six." he said. Six figured he must've recognized that look in her eyes when she was about to do something she wasn't supposed to.

Six looked away, gritting her teeth while she breathed deep through her nose. "Seems you fried your sensor implants again, Six. We'll have to replace those." She could feel the hot metal ear cuffs.

"Outside... First..." she said between her breaths.

"Fine, fine. But we should probably get you in some new clothes before that. Wouldn't want you traipsing to the surface in the nude after all."

Six hated that he had a point. It was comments like that that made Six think they actually cared a times. She knew that if they truly cared, she wouldn't even be there in the first place.

The silo hatch closed, and the chamber was once again filled with darkness save for the flashlights the scientists had brought in. The glow in her eyes faded. She could hear a loudspeaker outside of the chamber announce, "Attention, Subject Triple-Six is now inactive."

Six is a fit woman, standing at 5' 7" in height. She weighs 117 pounds. Her eyes are a neutral gray. Her skin is pale, a result of not leaving the facility for a long time. Her hair is raven black. Six has very few scars on her body, and there are hardly signs of any tampering done to her. To anybody not familiar with Six, they'd see a normal girl in a not so normal situation. Her preference of clothing is simple and practical. She prefers tank tops or t-shirts, and either cargo pants or jeans. The only things that are a constant with her, is a silver chain link bracelet that she wears on her left wrist, and a pair of ear cuffs that run along the helices of both her ears.

Six was luckier than most of the other subjects, or unluckier depending on perspective. Her powers didn't develop until quite she had already had a taste of life. Six had time living a normal life until she was twelve years old. She had friends. She loved her parents. And she had ambitions she wanted to see through when she got older. Things changed one day when she got si̸̱̪̐̒͜ck̸͕̱̮͑͊̂̂̑̋, just the common flu. Her parents had noticed her body temperature was abnormally high, so they brought her to the hospital. When a nurse took her temperature to confirm the parents' reports, she immediately called for a doctor. The parents hardly had any time to ask what was going on by the time Six was rushed off into an emergency ward.

Our luckily for us, our agents were in the very same hospital collecting another subject. They saw a golden opportunity, and stepped in to col̵̬̒l̵̟̮̖̇͆ͅect̸̮͎̠͇̿͐͆͂ Six as well. The agents paid the staff handling Six handsomely to keep their actions quiet. For hours, Six's parents waited outside of the ER. When the doctor stepped out, they immediately jumped from their seats. The doctor reported Six had succumbed to the sickness, and dię̷̨̺̗̭̦͐͐̑̌d̷̠̥̀͝.. Six's parents were devastated, and when they were asked if they could see her body, they were denied. The doctor had fabricated a story that Six was highly contagious, and she hadn't been infected by the common flu at all. All records surrounding Six's faked death have been altered to correlate with the doctor's report.

Six underwent a standard data wiping procedure once she arrived at the facility. At first, she behaved like every other subject. But failed experiments of course had to lead to further data wipes. After her tẖ̴̪̣̠̲͘ĩ̵̳͇̜̞̰͆͐́́r̷̛͉̙͔̅̓͂̾d wip̷̛̗̣̾ȇ̷̬̅̍͘, Six began exhibiting aggressive behavior and signs that she is remembering bits and pieces of her past. At the time, her fledgling powers were still enough to warrant caution around her. But as she grew older, those powers strengthened, and Six has had to have been forced into tighter and tighter security to maintain the Pȓ̵̨̯̼̘̑͋̋ó̵̢̡̟͉̗̣̇̀ǰ̴̺̄̑͊ecẗ̸̢̰̠́'̵̭̄̈́͗s̶̰̣̜̯̤̀ integrity.

Six has had to have her memory wiped nỉ̴̪͍̟͙̤͑̾͂n̷͓̜̥̙̦͛̎e ti̵̢͚̻̲̗͋̃ḿ̷̜̯̣̪̈́ȇ̵̡̤̏͠s now. Only days after each wipe, Six seems to remember more and more about herself. Her resistance to the wiping process has the whole fà̸̺̺̑͝č̴̳̭͌͆̀͊̚͜ilit̶̨̥̱̹̝͓̓̒̏͗̏y̵̟̥͓̦̔͋͆̋ questioning its efficacy. However, the only other subject to resist a data wipe was #̵̡͙͓̺̫̦̏͋̉͠0̴̨̰̠͆͝00. The leading theory is because of the age Six was when we collected her. The rest of the sũ̷̮̘̬̙̣̂͑̑b̸̨͎̯͙̾͊͘j̷̛̛̥͚̓̍̈́̄ec̶̡̙̪͚̲̜͘t̸̛̝͉̫͇͗̑̈́s show no abnormalities after a data wipe. However, Six has shown great potential to move into the next phase of the Project, so we will press on with her. WARNING: Triple-6 must not be exposed to sunlight or moonlight except for experimental purposes.

Triple-Six appears to have powers that are synchronized with the type of natural light that makes contact with her body. Direct contact made with either sunlight or moonlight drastically alter the properties of her powers. When in sunlight, Six can control the ambient temperature around her to create fire from nothing. She can control this flame with ease, as though it were an extension to her own body. When exposed to sunlight, Six seems completely unfazed by heat, and can withstand temperatures that could melt steel. The hotter the ambient temperature, the faster she can create fire and the hotter it'll be.

When under moonlight, Six's powers reverse. Instead of being able to rapidly heat the air around her, she can rapidly cool it. Moonlight allows Six to snap freeze objects and create shards of ice by utilizing the moisture in the air. Six shows signs of being able to create ice from water sources as well, which makes her very dangerous in the night, since she can freeze and manipulate the water that makes up a large portion of the human body. When in contact with moonlight, Six does not feel the cold. In colder temperatures, her ability to snap freeze objects becomes much, much faster.

Additionally, astronomical events seem to have an effect on her powers. The most common and easily observable event is the monthly full moon. If Six is exposed to a full moon, her ability to manipulate ice magnifies. Her sphere of influence nearly doubles, and ambient temperature around her has been seen to suddenly drop as far down as -30° Celsius. Another astronomical event, which are thankfully much rarer, are solar flares. Regardless of the time of day, solar flares heighten Six's power with fire. If combined with direct sunlight, a solar flare can turn her flames blue, and sometimes even white. Her body heat drastically rises, causing heat ripples in the air. Making contact with her body can cause severe burns.

A clear indication that her powers are active are when the irises of her eyes are glowing. When in sunlight, her irises turn orange. In moonlight, her irises turn to an icy blue. The brighter her eyes glow, the more potent her powers are. Six's power has been labelled as 'Astral-Elemental Synchronicity'. Triple-6's power has the potential to be extremely destructive, and it is because of this factor that she remain very controlled and constantly under watch. Her potential for weaponization is great, and should we find a proper method to control her, Triple-Six could easily see usage on the battlefield.

WARNING: Triple-6 must not be exposed sunlight or moonlight except for experimental purposes.

Six has few visible alterations. The ear cuffs running the helices of her ears serve a number of purposes. The first purpose is as a method of tracking Six's location at all times. Additionally, they monitor Six's internal body temperature, and ambient temperature around her. If either become too high, or too low, they send a signal to an auto-injector in Six's arm, which applies a dose of fast acting knock-out chemicals to subdue her. Six's varying body temperatures have made implants difficult to put in her. It seems the helices of her ears are on of the few places that see the least change in temperature, likely because of the ear being cartilage. The auto injector in her arm has to be replaced whenever Six does see exposure to natural light, as it simply can't handle the extreme temperatures her body can reach.

ᴘ ᴇ ʀ s ᴏ ɴ ᴀ ʟ ɪ ᴛ ʏ
It was a coincidence that her subject number was 666, but it certainly is fitting. Six is a very difficult individual to control. She has had to have a data wipe nine times since she was brought into the project. Her attitude is constantly rebellious, like she is somehow regaining fragments of her m̸̘̓ẻ̷̡m̵͖͛o̷̟̓r̶͚͝y̶͖̑ from before her data wipes. Six shows signs of contempt to nearly all facility staff. She recognizes the devastating potential of her powers, and if she sees a window of opportunity to make a problem for them, she doesn't hesitate. This has led to Six being under very heavy watch. She is often kept in seclusion for long periods of time. Six has lost her name after having had so many data wipes. To further this, all records of her name have been expunged and replaced by her subject number. She recognizes 'Triple-6' or simply 'Six' as her name now.

It seems her personality has a constant, no matter how many times we wipe her memory and strip her of her identity, she seems to remember things she isn't supposed to. Every instance of Six has shown an interest in astronomy, likely as a way to better understand her power. Since we wish to understand her power as well, we have accepted the common interest and provided Six with reading material on astronomy. She reads frequently during her isolation periods. We notice a marked improvement on Six's behavior and cooperation when we promise to let her outside, even if her excursions outdoors or brief and strictly controlled. While she seems happier and more eager to work along with us when we let her outside, we have prepared for the eventuality when Six attempts to escape. It is quite clear that she spends her time outside studying the terrain surrounding the facility. As with all of our subjects, Six is quite intelligent, and she has been observed probing the facility's security measures.

When she is uncooperative and attempts to cause a commotion, Six is seen holding back at times. She is testing us. Studying our reaction times. The speed and limitations of her implants. The sheer extent of her powers. She is always eager to carry out experiments involving her power, likely so she can gather data for herself as well. We have notified the board that Six will inevitably make a move. It is just a question of when that will happen, and how devastating will it be to the rest of the Project.

It seems that she is rather warm and friendly to the other subjects. Given her tendency to probe the security of the facility, it is possible she might be looking for allies. It is hard to say for certain, as her conversations with the other subjects are usually banter and hardly serious. Many of the staff in the facility don't like working with Six, mainly because of her rebellious, and dangerous, behavior. There are a few scientists that press on however, and it seems Six has a preference to deal with them over the others.
Woohoo! I will start writing Six's intro post once I've cleaned up from work

Here she is! I'm looking forward to hear feedback, and the ultimate decision on if she is accepted or not!

I hope there's still room! My interest has most certainly been garnered!

The Rogue Planet Incident

When the Odyssey left Earth's orbit, everything felt surreal. The crew of the ship stood on the observation deck, watching as their blue pearl shrunk in size. They knew the world was watching them, cheering them on, praying for a safe journey and a safe return. It was the day when humanity would test its first interstellar jump drive, the Fold Wave Manipulator. Everything started off smoothly. Humanity would finally leave the familiar territory of the Solar System. Their eyes were set on Alpha Centauri, to explore alien worlds and lead humanity into a new era.

The Fold Wave Manipulator worked. The local space around the Odyssey began to twist, turn, and finally engulf the ship. In only a matter of hours, the ship would be 4.7 light years away from the Sun. When the ship emerged from Fold Space, they weren't graced by the light of a new star. Not entirely at least. The Fold Wave Manipulator had detected a gravitational anomaly while navigating Fold Space, and performed an emergency exit. The crew was glad that their untested drive kept them alive, but they weren't entirely aware of the danger they had emerged next to. The Fold Wave Manipulator had exited Fold Space two light years too early. Alpha Centauri was still just another dot in the black void. While the crew tried to prepare the ship for another jump, the ship's computer warned them of a gravitational influence that made the Fold Wave Manipulator unable to function. That was when the crew turned their eyes to their scanners, then to the windows and observation ports. They had entered into a unstable orbit over a starless planet that had been drifting for millions of years. A rogue planet.

The ship only had enough fuel to set itself into a stable orbit around one of Alpha Centauri's planets, and escape again on the return trip to Earth. The rogue planet's gravitational influence was so strong that escaping would mean the Odyssey would have no fuel to return to Earth. They were trapped and cut off from communications with Earth. It'd only be a matter of days until the Odyssey would crash land on the surface of the rogue planet. It was up to the crew of the Odyssey to survive, and find a way home. Luckily, the Odyssey was crewed by Earth's best and brightest. Scientists and engineers of many different fields, pilots and soldiers from every corner of the Earth, and leaders handpicked to adapt to any scenario. The crew of the Odyssey will not be beaten.

The Premise

So! First off, thank you for reading this interest check! This has been an idea floating around in my head for a while. I'm aiming for this to be a sort of survival horror on a planet with no sun. Beyond the lights of Odyssey, things on the surface are pitch black and frozen over. There is an atmosphere capable of sustaining human life. And if it can sustain humans, than it is likely that it can sustain something else as well! While this is first and foremost a survival horror story, there will be equal parts action and exploration. At least, that is the intent. The Odyssey had a crew of two hundred, with people ranging from a variety of skills and professions. The tech level is futuristic, we're talking magnetic weapons and even some energy weapons as well. There will be power armored suits, and if people want, even combat mechs a la Armored Core, Full Metal Panic, or Front Mission.

The GM

Here's the catch... I have a bit of a track record of hosting RPs that never really get off the ground, or lose steam quite early on. So that said, I'm looking for somebody else to GM this RP instead. I would much rather be the Co-GM, and help build a world for the RP to take place in. I could advise the GM on plot points in the story that might be important, and help guide the party through a long and successful adventure! So that's the hope!

The Players

While there are many people aboard the Odyssey currently, that population will be quick to fall. I intend to kick off the RP with the Odyssey crashing into the surface of the rogue planet. So many of the crew will die. The players are obviously the survivors. I don't intend on killing off all the crew but the players, so there will be NPCs that need to be auto'd. I will allow for players to freely come up with side characters to help along with interactions, development, and also to generally be red shirts for when chaos ensues. That said, I want to keep a count on how many of the crew are left standing in total. So don't go crazy with killing everybody off for dramatic effect. :P

Myself and the volunteer GM included, I will allow a maximum party size of 10, but would preferably want 6 or 7. The characters should have a good spread of skills to tackle a variety of situations. Keep in mind though, that myself and the GM will constructively criticize the application CS's. If something doesn't make the cut initially, don't fret. Edit the character, and consult with me or the GM in private until the character is up to snuff. THIS IS NOT FIRST COME FIRST SERVE! If two characters fill the exact same role, one will end up being chosen over the other. If you aren't picked, feel free to make a CS for a different role.

Now! With that out of the way, do we have any takers? And is there anybody willing to GM this RP?
And here she is! I felt I could've done more with the background, but I was REEAALLY trying to keep it in as few paragraphs as possible. I have ideas for her though, so the rest will just have to be discovered or revealed in character! I hope you like it! If you have any concerns or nit picks with the character, let me know I can happily make edits.

Also, I'm sure one of us can find a very easy way to leave Serrice without her bodyguards, money, or both. Perhaps that can be how she ends up with the crowd. A deal with the Sycamore's gone south, a rival dealer thinning out the competition, another mob attempting to sabotage the Sycamore supply train. The possibilities should be quite exciting if this character gets approved in her current state.

I can always downsize her operating area from the entirety of Asia to just the Pacific coastline if you're not too keen on the original concept.
