Solarians aren't humans just developed like that. They recently discovered a wormhole leading here from the edge of the galaxy.

Can we also invent weird space phenomena? It seems many players taking this as "real countries enlarged to interstellar levels" so I wondered if I should make the Carpathian Anomaly which prevents entering my space anywhere but at a few points.

I can give you half dozen locations, pick whichever you prefer.

1.) Malibderan, arabian styled nation with borders surrounded by mountains and mediterranean to sahara like environment
2.) Gijak'Tor, sahara to tundra like harsh environments inhabited by nomads, Kashgar and Uruk
3.) Gijak'Tor but closer to Uruk cities
4.) Yngvar mountains, fighting Druegar (dwarves)
5.) Mountains at the south, inhabited by Cyclops tribes
6.) Yllendthyr, thick forest inhabited by elves

The last two are probably the least recommended to you.

I think the original plan was to mine the antimatter generated by an eccentric neutron star.
Although I admit planet sized diamond sounds fun even if not as likely to start a feud, IMO.

Perhaps. Albeit the Federation is incredibly selfish and does no charity unless if it's nothing but a publicity stunt.
So I am not sure if having relations with them is beneficial to you on the long term.
Well, I am not entirely fixed down on the Federation's style yet so anything is possible.
