Name of nation: United Superpowers of the Homeworld Treaty Alliance, or USHTA, or Ushtah.
Species: Sidris, Sidrisian, or translated into what is simply, "Raptor(s)"
The Sidris are sensitive, warm-blooded creatures of avian structure. Double-spine structure, reinforced bone structure, but bones are all hollow. They show more similarities to avians than to reptiles, besides their pebbly, reptillian skin. They are creatures that are hardy, because of their regenerative properties- where another race loses movement and senses below a point when their spine is broken, a Sidris has two spines, which both decreases flexibility and increases back strength. That, and their spine can regenerate. Their skin is leathery, not thick, nor soft. Metabolism forces all but the most determined to be thin and wiry, with very, very few showing any signs of real overweight.
Description of government: Sectional Democratic-Republic, set in tiers depending on community->region->area->state->Collection->Planet->System->Universal. At this point, the Ushtuh has yet to completely dominate the planet, so the five superpowers of the planet (among 35 smaller nations, from chain-island states to Australia-sized countries) are in a council of sorts who vote and decide on what they want. Every five suncycles, they vote in a new 'President' from the one of the other four superpowers- one superpower can't hold President for more than one term in a row.
Description of military: [Revised from before based on more raptor-like combat] Infantry, water-based, air-based, and space-based is what they work with. They have very little actual ground units- in favor of mobile, fleet-footed infantry.
Infantry Sidrisian infantry are very mobile and very deadly. Heavy mobile missile weapons are not used with the invention of better kinetic weaponry- Sidris infantry weapons are almost all some sort of rifle or handgun. Grenades launchers are not within their arsenal, nor are mobile missile launch systems, or anything that doesn't use a cartridge, shell, or something similar. There are not even grenades or
My avian creatures are more like the dinosaurs, and while there are a few that can fly, they are less about long-distance and overall mobility and all that, and more about striking. Raptors were presumed to be instinctive hunters- and so are these. You may fly across the sky, but you wouldn't see my avians until they're on top of you, likely because they'd been shadowing you from the ground, or something.
Yup- long post is long. Already past 11k characters. Should be up tomorrow sometime, maybe morning, maybe this time tomorrow. However, I'ma have to PM it to you @The Scotsman so you can see if it's good. My character has two encounters with the creatures before he meets anyone else- once like you, where he just saw it through a window and they stared at each other, and another at a door outside. Anything more than that, i shall not say, because even though I think the post is crap, I want to keep some suspense- no spoilers, ya know?
I was just gonna go with essentially smart utah raptors gone evolution and having been genetically engineered so that they would eventually be smart, where they then started expanding from their jungly jurassic world to space because of the tech inside genetic labs on the ground from unknown peoples. And the fact that the entire planet they live on is literally a massive experiment gone wrong- the original owners left, leaving behind a gold mine in the genetic laboratory databases, booting what would be millenia-long tribal raptor peoples into modern+++ era, where they eventually found out that their planet is about six times younger than all the planets around them, and the sun, and everything, and that the core of the planet was actually three miniature black holes, kept stable and used for energy by massively complex indecipherable machines in the heart of the superplanet.
Simply speaking, an artifically created planet that used the gravity from controlled miniature black holes to both create the planet- just let the gravity break through but not anything else, and let the dirt and crap collect and then terraform after you've blown up and collected all the nearby planetoids and asteroids, and then do whatever to the surface.
Three miniature blacholes, orbiting each other in the center of a massive planet, controlled tightly by a super-advanced AI that continually refuses to admit my peoples, who are fine with that beacuse they couldn't hope to match it, nor could they do anything to it without risking their entire nation in the process. ;DD
Progress on my post is coming along nicely; ~5000-ish character rn. Planning on much more- he's not even left his classroom yet (even though everyone else has).
