Bio
I have been writing since I was 17 years old. I am now 33 and I've been enjoying life. Writing is a passion just as reading is. My favorite genre is murder/mystery, but I love fantasy and I love action/adventure. I have published a collection of short stories that can be found on Apple Books, Barnes and Nobles, and Kindle. I have a trilogy in the works, the first part scheduled for release this year.
@KaesusYes he is proud of his family name, but he doesn't throw it around, he is more on the chill side, but they could totally be friendly rivals. Thank you, I'm trying to make sure he's not too powerful.
@TheHangedMan Nialla is complete, please let me know what you think.
"Music transcends all barriers, just as Love is genderless and sees no color. Life is a journey worth taking, and if you just so happen to find someone to share it with, it becomes better."
Name: Nialla Virsai of the House of Virsai
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Appearance: Nialla stands at a decent 5 foot 8 inches, moderately shorter than most males his age. His hair is long and silken in texture; however, it never stays the same color for long. Currently, his hair is a beautiful platinum blonde with hints of pink speckled throughout. When utilizing his magic, his eyes shift from their beautiful soft green to white, a trait passed on through his lineage.
Year: 3
Rank: Master
Room No.:
Personality: Nialla is a proud member of the House of Virsai, and as such he is often held to a higher regard. On the outside, one can see all the wealth and power his family has, but when you get to know Nialla you learn that he is far from simple, he is very complex and not stuck up in the slightest. Nialla has a taste for fine art and loves to enjoy the finer things in life, this is true, but he also understands that not everyone was afforded the opportunities he has and thus can understand and sympathize. Nialla is very mature for his age and quite intelligent. He has an appreciation for life, but going through loss and depression has caused changes. He can be quiet when approached by someone he doesn't know, even breaching the line of cold to a degree, but it is a defense mechanism. If you've earned his friendship, rest assured that he won't give it up without a fight.
Magic Discipline:
Music - Trained in the arcane art of Music Magic, a branch of Sound Magic, Nialla can tap into the raw arcane energy that flows. Music is powerful and sound is powerful. Utilizing his affinity over this form of magic can have a variety of effects. By humming, he can produce barriers or enchantments. By playing his violin, he can cause miraculous things to occur, such as producing bolts of energy or ensnaring the senses of others just to name a few things. In order for curses and hexes to work using music, the target must hear it. Area spells work in a 30 ft radius. His forcefields are as strong as his will and strength of his connection with the arcane energies.
Equipment: - A violin was given to him by his master to help conduct his arcane energy. He named it Kí (pronounced Ke-e). The violin was crafted from elderwood, known for its magical properties, and quite rare. He can summon the violin at will and is extremely proficient in playing it. - The normal things a student would have in his enchanted bag. Spellbooks, notebooks, pens, etc...
Biography: Born in a very wealthy upper-class family, the House of Virsai, Nialla was always held to a higher regard by both stranger and family alike. At a very young age, he showed an ability to wield magic. Growing up in a family of spellcasters, life wasn't always easy. He was always pushed to do better. The patriarch of his family saw the potential in him, he saw how easily he manipulated the energies around him, and thus began his intense training. Nialla went through his life discovering magic, learning it, finding out what did and what didn't work, and thanks to his grandfather, he was able to understand. B.U.M caught the eye of his mother and father who petitioned with the Grandmaster to send Nialla there to learn. Though stubborn, the Grandmaster understood that his time was short and Nialla would need to continue his training. Amidst the training, Nialla discovered himself. He was able to get away every now and then and breathe, enjoying life.
When he turned 14, he met another trainee, Nicolai. He and Nicolai spent copious amounts of time together. On his 16th birthday, they both joined B.U.M, and on his 17th birthday, he learned of Nicolai's death. Nicolai's family didn't speak on how he died, only informing Nialla's parents of the death. Devastated upon losing the only guy he ever loved, he fell into depression. He attended the funeral, but the casket was never opened. He mourned for days, blending into weeks until he began to slowly pull out of his emotional state.
It has been a year since the loss, and yet he still has nightmares, he still wakes up in the middle of the night with tears in his eyes. He has tried to move on but to no avail. Instead, he plunged into his school work hoping to ease his troubled mind. Throughout everything, his grades never faltered, and his learning never waivered.
Master: His master is the patriarch of his family. The Grandmaster of the House of Virsai taught him all he knows. Grandmaster Virsai is an immensely powerful man, someone who Nialla deeply respects. He stands at 6 foot 9 inches and has a slender build. His eyes are a sapphire blue and seem to peer into the very souls of those he talks to. Grandmaster Virsai has silver hair ending at the middle of his back. His beard extends to the tip of his belly button and is also silver. He appears to be no older than 50, but his age is unknown.
If Nialla was forced to sacrifice something important in order to move forward, it would be: His emotions. He doesn’t want to hurt anymore. Most nights he still thinks of him, and it causes a mixture of emotions to flare up. There’s nothing he can do about it, he’s tried moving on, but he is always reminded of him. He sees him in his sleep. He would love to give up his emotions in order to move forward in life.
If Nialla was offered to have a single wish fulfilled, it would be: to see his deceased boyfriend with whom he was building a life together before things went south. He would love to be able to say goodbye and close that chapter of his life. Sadly his love died, though the cause of death was never revealed to Nialla and it tortures him to this day.
I am definitely interested. I will just have to figure out how to flesh out his magic. I don't want to tap into two different Aeons due to his lineage and power. Any suggestions? @TheHangedMan
@Catmint Caleb understood that Ambrose wanted to finish the mission and return to their lives, though things would never be the same after everything they'd been through. Even if they managed to defeat the demon and set everything straight, there would always be the scar, most of which he caused, but a scar nonetheless of the events in the minds of everyone involved. No, things would never be the same and he had come to accept this, but he only wished things could be different, he oddly wished for a start over with Ambrose, perhaps if he was more protective or more cautious he wouldn't be in the situation he was in now. He sighed as he twirled the twig between his fingers watching Ambrose closely. He had offered Ambrose the tent, he would've been fine watching over them, but when he turned his attention back to the fire, he heard Ambrose say something.
Caleb stood up and dusted off his hands as he looked out into the darkness. He closed his eyes and sighed. There was danger all around them, this mission was dangerous. He hoped Ambrose would listen if anything happened to him. He hoped Ambrose would get out of dodge and return to his father to inform him. Taking one last look at the sky, Caleb stepped into the tent and looked over at Ambrose who had snuggled down and looked comfortable.
"Sleep well," Caleb said as he sat down Indian style and smiled at Ambrose. "See you in the morning."
With those words, Caleb began to meditate and tap into the arcane energies that flowed through the universe. Though his spirit was in turmoil, he knew what he had to do and as it got closer, as he realized that possibility of death, his mind became uneased. Meditation helped ease him.
The sun rose over the horizon illuminating the entrance to the tent. A few rays managed to sneak in and hit Caleb in the face. He was still in his meditation posture, but he slowly opened his eyes and looked over at Ambrose. He was still asleep, and Caleb didn't want to disturb him but they needed to get a move on finding the staff that the creature wanted, and thereby getting them closer to retrieving the blade they needed to banish the demon that plagued their school. Caleb began packing his bag, one thing after the other, but he left a snack and a bottle of water for Ambrose. Slowly he approached Ambrose and touched his shoulder softly.
"Hey," he said softly, "hey wake up babe," he added realizing what he said and removing his hand quickly before a blush formed.
He had a name, though for some reason Caleb felt that this creature was simply toying with them. Codal was his name and yet Caleb had never heard of him. This troubled him. Caleb took pride in being knowledgeable about magic and magic lore, yet Codal wasn't in his inventory. That was not to say he wasn't in someone else's. When Codal released Ambrose, Caleb resisted the urge to rush to him and make sure he was alright. Codal didn't give him the chance as a map was forced into Ambrose's hand. When he disappeared, Caleb took a few steps forward and took the map in his hand. He slid it into his back pocket and knelt down looking over Ambrose.
"Are you okay?" Caleb asked wanting to examine Ambrose, making a move to touch him but retracting his hand so as not to invade Ambrose's personal space. "I'm sorry," Caleb began, "I really didn't want to drag you into this."
Sighing, Caleb looked into the night sky and closed his eyes. He needed to connect with the magical energies that coursed through the universe. He was sitting close to Ambrose but not uncomfortably close. The flicker of the light allowed him to focus. He exhaled slowly and inhaled softly opening his eyes finally and looking slowly over at Ambrose. "Do you think it's a good idea to give him the staff? Maybe we do a little research and find out what he is and if the staff is connected to him." Caleb fell silent and stretched his fingers as he muttered a spell under his breath and released another barrier around their camp. They needed some type of rest if they were going to go after something they knew nothing about.
"We should get some rest," Caleb suggested. "The tent is all yours if you want."
