Mithias stepped back from Victor, not trusting the crazy looking vampire who kept waving his hand around oddly. The creeping shadow stalker didn't even give Mithias an answer to the question of his name. Yet Mithias was used to such discourtesy and wouldn't ask again. He owed nothing to one who gave him nothing.

Chantelle strode up to Gabriel's side, giving a soft hiss at the others to show her claim to him. She seemed to be enjoying her association with those of power and influence, which was practically wrote for her. Mithias had never known his father not to indulge a beauty. Gabriel was an actor, and one of the roles he played so well was gracious host. It was one of the roles Mithias would rather see him play, compared to some of the things he could become.

Heavily, Mithias sighed inwardly at Gabriel's use of false magic in dramatically opening the window, but his facepalm was cut short by what he saw on the other side. Gabriel was far more involved than Mithias had imagined. Not only was he sharing his obfuscated home with all other vampires, but he also had created a small, yet expert army for use against the Purge leaders. He had wisely refused the plans of lesser leaders of vampirekind in the past, and instead had used the time to learn, create, and come up with a far more strategic plan for destroying the Purge, to cut off its head, as he had said. All this, he had prepared on his own, using of course the gifts that only he had possessed among his kind. It almost brought a tear to his child's eye that his maker wasn't such a shameful recluse.

Mithias' thoughts reeled as the verbal attacks began flying. He cast a hand over his head and through his hair as he paced several steps in contemplation. Bedivere and Gabriel both meant the world to him, and here they were nearly at each other's throats in the same room together. Mithias listened to each of them, his elders, until the not-so subtle death threats were too much to take.

He turned back sharply and lifted his hands. "Gentlemen, please. My friends, my family..." Mithias remained calm, and continued very seriously speaking to the house that had gathered before him. "It is not Bedivere's fault that this war has as of yet been lost, father. But it is also not any more my sire's fault for turning his back than any other vampire lord who did the same. Many vampires failed to hold up their ends after the last council meeting, and Gabriel of course, with his ability, would have known that was going to happen. But now, for whatever reason, I myself still cannot even believe it, but Gabriel has decided to take action. The Purge have perhaps finally become a big enough threat to force our treacherous kind to truly unite, or die forever. I believe one as old and as wise as my father would know this, and if he has gone so far, with his unique insight, to amass a strikeforce and a plan a precise attack, then we should join him. Do you not realize? We face extinction! And what better leader do we have than one who can read the minds of our enemies? The Purge is a threat that unites us all. We can thin our numbers on our own and squabble over our domains after the Purge have been undone, but we must deal with them now.

Adam, although you marvel at human technology, the HIVE weapon is no threat. Without knowing where to point the orbital laser, it is useless, and in addition, it needs an operator. Finding out who can control the weapon wouldn't be hard for our kind, and a mere human could be killed or enslaved easily. HIVE will fall once Kami and the Pope of Flames are killed and the Purge crumbles. Please forgive my father's 'insistence,' but he is not used to... discussion. You should have the right to chose your own path, but logically you have a far greater chance of success by joining us. Gabriel has already offered to assist you in recovering Alucard in return for your aid. I don't see why working with Church to enhance our technology would cause you any loss."

Victor seemed to be on board, although he seemed potentially to just be in it for funsies. Chantelle seemed to be aligned to whoever the winning team would be. Hank hadn't yet said anything, and Church had already thrown in. Mithias looked to Adam and particularly to Bedivere to see their reaction.

His brow furrowed slightly, not knowing anything that Bedivere could possibly be thinking. He asked imploringly. "What say you dear brother? Will you combat this threat with us?"
I'm writing a post. I'm gonna bring all ye ol' vampires together.
Anyway, I watched a little RvB like 5 years ago, but I haven't kept up with it.

Mithias stood up from his one knee. Among all the vampires present, he had been the only one that had knelt. Of course he hadn't been affected by Gabriel's psychic commands, nor had he felt any fear of his father. He did it of his own volition. In truth, Mithias would confess anything to the antediluvian lord, even if it meant his own death, for so much did he owe the one that had given him the power to save his entire human legacy.

In any case, Gabriel would always find out the truth, one way or another. Mithias knew that anything he ever did or said in the presence of another mind was subject to his fathers review eventually, and that constant knowledge kept him quite honest. A steady gaze confirmed what Gabriel had read from Bedivere's memory.

Nonetheless, the son's gesture was sincere, especially now that Mithias stood in witness of something he thought he would never see, that his self-indulgent, heartless, and cowardly father had been moved into action. A light had been sparked in those ancient, grim eyes, and Mithias knew that he had been the one to ignite it. It was incredible, stunning, and he was proud... yet at the same time, a bolt of terror ran through the young vampire. A fear crept up in the back of his throat, threatening to to be spoken aloud, that he had inspired this great god to put his own life at risk. If Gabriel was killed by joining this stupid war, then it would be Mithias' fault. That was something Mithias didn't think he could live with. He had to protect him.

Learning that Church was his brother by blood was also surprising. Mithias beheld the wheelchair bound vampire in new light and with new concern. Perhaps he was a bit of a self righteous jerk, but Mithias held family in unfairly high esteem. The news made him even more curious as to the Director's origins, especially in regard to his permanently injured condition. It was like the scar on his father's countenance, the one that he kept hidden from all eyes and never spoke of. Mithias would never dare ask about it, for the sheer look of doom that followed any line of thinking in that direction was nightmare-inducing. Church had been vague about how he had been broken, but perhaps he would open up more honestly now to his "little brother."

Little time did Mithias have to dwell on that revelation when Bedivere dropped a fucking hammer. He turned around in true shock and blinked at the old knight in disbelief. "You, killed them??" Mithias had never thought that his brother knight would do such a thing, much less *could* do such a thing. Bedivere's lethality was far more than Mithias had realized, and had he not just been spared mere moments ago, even Mithias would have been struck more by fear than by confusion. His gold eyes flicked across Bedivere searchingly. Was Bedivere crazy? Angry? True, most of the vampires in the council were terrors to humankind and surely deserved their deaths, and true it was that the world was better off without them, but... What would become of vampirekind without elders to guide them? Mithias wavered between both sides of the argument. Perhaps destroying the vampires that had driven the war with humans had been for the best. Their warmongering had ultimately resulted in the decimation of vampirekind and might yet lead it its extinction. "There are so few of us left, and so many are so young and weak. I fear for our survival, dear brother. Was there no other way?"

Centuries ago, Mithias would have dreamed of doing the same thing, to rid the world of the most powerful and heinous vampire lords, yet now, with the wisdom of time and reflection, did he see the folly in that goal. Bedivere and the Purge were far better at vampire-hunting that Mithias had ever been. He knew what Bedivere's answer would be. Culling the worst of their own was the only way.

Mithias looked back to Gabriel, hoping for an answer, an explanation, to be brought up to speed and included in his sire's plans. He had so many questions.

Then, suddenly the flicker of a presence very close to him triggered Mithias to spin and target his shadow. His white clawed hand shot out into the blackness, and without a word or any hesitation, he grabbed the neck of Victor and yanked him upward to dangle before everyone in his grasp. Mithias narrowed his vivid yellow eyes at the shadow walker in contemptuous curiosity.
