On business travel again :I
I swear I'm racking up those frequent flier miles.
Should I ask for a pay raise D:?

They had better be paying you the big bucks. I miss you.

I'm actually looking forward to a new job soon, but it may not be for the next several months. I should actually have weekends off. I am SO excited.

Think it was more of a sum-up and a beginning of a countdown.

Indeed, but feel free to continue doing what your characters were doing if you want to finish something up or whatever. You don't have to skip ahead or anything. I didn't actually specify how long ago Mithias left.

I was worried people might have been getting bored with talking.
Ok. I cranked out a post. It doesn't have any action at all, but it does sort out a few things and sum up recent events. If you want to come interact with me, knock yourself out. Otherwise, do whatever you want.
In 3 days from that fateful night, the vampires would launch their attack on the HIVE secret underground headquarters. Truth be told, it was the most logical move. No vampire army, no matter how skilled they were, would be able to survive a targeted solar laser attack from space. It would have been impossible to attack the Purge or anywhere else in any kind of group, for the HIVE laser could easily burn them all alive at once, once their location became known. The orbital super weapon had to be taken out first thing.

Mithias had retired to a room in his father's private chateau, or whatever this elegant, secret retreat of his could be called. He had a lot of things to think over. Mithias walked out on the balcony and folded his arms. The peace of nature was so soothing.

So Adam would help them, as pessimistic as he was about the whole thing. Apparently he needed help getting the key to free his dear Alucard child. Only Bedivere could let him, or any agent of his, pass into Camelot to enter the cathedral to retrieve the key. Any vampire attempting to do this would of course be vaporized to ash by the degree of holy radiation coming out of that church. Not even Bedivere himself, who had developed an impressive tolerance to Christian relics, could perform such an act. That key was expertly guarded. Nonetheless, it would still potentially be worthwhile to aid Adam. His corporation was quite capable, and they had the recipe for the synthetic blood that could satisfy a vampire's thirst. Such a miracle had the potential to sustain vampires without bringing them into conflict with humans ever again. It could end the wars forever.

But vampires are a fickle bunch, most of them out of their minds with boredom or loneliness. To get them all to agree to universal rules would be impossible. They pretty much never worked together on anything due to their greed and distrust, and if any 'King' were to have the slightest chance at controlling them, such a vampire would have to be unbelievably powerful. Mithias sighed. Both Bedivere and Gabriel had spoken of there being a potential leader for vampirekind. Gabriel flatly declined. Adam seems to think that this Alucard could potentially take the throne, but... What about this Arthur that Bedivere eternally waits for? Mithias was certain, and even Bedivere he knew suspected, that Arthur wasn't coming. Bedivere should take his place.

Speaking of the grey knight, he had made a grave suggestion to Adam. The sword Contagion was still in Bedivere's private collection and if necessary, it could be used. Such a vile and lethal weapon it was, that the thought of its return turned the vampire's stomach. Country-wide plague, mass graves, death in abundance was all it promised to this world. It could kill far more than necessary if it fell into the wrong hands. Certainly it would wipe out HIVE during their upcoming attack, but then what guarantee was there that the slaughter would stop? Humans to Mithias were only children.

Bedivere had also made a clear point that Mithias hadn't missed. He said that Gabriel was like the King piece in chess, that he would run and hide and sacrifice anyone before him to see his plans done, and it was true. Mithias knew he himself was probably the last person Gabriel would throw to the fire, but he would still be thrown if it came down to it. Gabriel didn't have much of a heart, which was probably why he had lived for so long, and his son was well aware of this. If Bedivere were to be in dire need, certainly Gabriel would do nothing to save him, and this was disconcerting. ... Mithias remembered the last look in those deep red eyes. Bedivere feared for him. He still cared.

Mithias kept standing, as if he'd never again be moved, and kept pondering. Church, like Adam, seemed to fear HIVE, having redundantly cited Freelancer's most recent failure against one of the HIVE agents. Those two really had no idea what power the vampire forces had at their disposal, but they would learn. Once the orbital laser was gone, Purge was dead meat.

A few of the other vampires that had gathered at Hawaii had proven themselves to be flawed in their conviction, being more concerned with their final standing amongst each other or their own lives or their entertainment. It was like herding cats. Once humans were no longer a threat, they would probably turn on each other, as they did every time there was a council meeting. Things would go back to the way they were, and eventually, the cycle would repeat again a few thousand years from now. How fatalistic.

So what then was the meaning of it all? Mithias swayed his weight to one leg. He'd have to see his loved ones through this, but he also had a promise to keep. It had been a miracle that it hadn't yet been broken. His feelings tore him in different directions, and he struggled. he'd wait to see who might come to speak to him, if anyone.
@Shikaru
Hmm, as a co-founding character, I will think on that one.

I want to say @Legion-114's last post is of one of Adam's memories, and the 8-year old is Alucard, but I'm sure we decided Alu was gonna be a teenager. Not sure otherwise though.
We have two marcuses.
@supertinyking

As the ship flies off to safety, Mithias still has little grip on reality. He stays on the deck, holding onto the wood with his own claws and staring blankly downward. He was not in a good place, or a good mood, or anything short of a slice away from psychotic. The others around him didn't seem to mean anything to him, for they were all merely visions of madness. His hand trembled against the wood. He squeezed his eyes shut.

Once it was safe to do anything other than brace one's self for dear life, Eclipse inclined relaxingly against a banister and folded his arms. He was watching Mithias.
@The Grey Dust

I had Gym today, they made us run 24 laps of track, i think that beats a fish sandwich

If that wasn't a 400m track, go hang your head in shame.
@Remipa Awesome
I've been wondering what Hank's been thinking about all this.
Three? I saw 2. I don't think I can delete them. Maybe you can get a moderator to do it?
