Ayakashi Kujo-Sha [あやかし 駆除者]

Well, with that in mind, I present to you my application.

Note: Colors/headings will come later.

Akihisa Echigo-ya

Name: Akihisa Echigo-ya (越後屋 明久)

Age: 77 years of existence but looks to be around his 40s in Mundane form

Occupation: Kabuki Artist

Kaifuku Role: Graceful Gastronomic Gunsen Ghoul

Mundane Identity: Akihisa also goes by his stage name “Eita Mera (米良 瑛太)”

Race: Jikininki. Neither truly dead or alive, Akihisa is cursed by the gods to suffer an insatiable hunger for fresh, dead flesh at least once a day until the end of time. His own belly will start to consume what little flesh remains of his if this curse is not satisfied, leading his mortal visage to fade and reveal his true form: that of a mad, rotting corpse that has atrophied driven by greed.

While he is functionally immortal and cannot be put down through conventional means, Akihisa’s body has the same durability of that of a human. If his limbs are chopped off, he needs to sew them back on if he intends to not spend the rest of eternity without them.

Reputation: As Eita Mera, Akihisa is a celebrity in the theatre scene. His performances, along with the others in his kabuki troupe, are quite salacious that they sometimes cause a ruckus among the audience. Conveniently, these brawls can often lead to deaths that don’t seem to end up at the local coroner’s office. Indeed, this new art celebrated by the people of the new era allow Akihisa to walk among the people as a ghoul, albeit with heavy makeup or with a Men-yoroi mask on.

Akihisa’s activities as a Jikininki are largely unknown to the public and to the denizens of the underworld, he is not significant at all.

Personality: A man punished for his greed cannot hide this inherent flaw. However, his time as an artist has given Akihisa the desire to be revered. If he finds individuals worthy of his respect, he will attempt to earn theirs as well. While seemingly proud, he is not below casting his pride away at the feet of his foes if it means preserving his fortunes. Live to fight another day would be his mantra if he weren’t already part of the unliving.

Weapons:
Gunsen Pair – Two iron folding fans that are sharp enough to cut through flesh. Used primarily as prop in his shows, these weapons are deceptively useful in close quarters combat.

Nanban Shortbarrel Arquebus – Hidden underneath his elaborate costume is a single-shot, matchlock firearm from Europa that he took to his grave. The blood of a monk is soaked deep in its barrel.

Equipment:
Spice Shaker – A small container filled with spices from the Moluccas. Hides the horrible taste of rotting meat.

Red Men-Yoroi Mask – A traditional samurai mask usually used by cavalry commanders (as seen in either appearance images).

Fighting Style: Tessenjutsu – The martial art of warfans. A mostly reactionary fighting style, tessenjutsu aims to deflect or redirect blows from spears and swords by manipulating the opponent’s momentum. Darts, arrows and other small projectiles can also be swatted away by a keen sense. Overwhelming strength such as that from a mace or immense numerical superiority render this fighting style ineffective.

Skills: Song and Dance – Being an artist has its merits. If only he was born as an artisan instead.

Culinary Expert – Though he needs to eat dead flesh, this doesn’t mean Akihisa neglects the finer tastes that the world has to offer.

Firearms Familiarity – Death and dishonor does not stop him from using the weapons of the foreigners.

Lore:
Born into the Ryōmin caste’s merchant class, Akihisa’s life would be stacked against him from the start. For centuries, tradesmen were regarded as the lowest dregs of society due to their parasitic nature of the farmers and artisans. What they lacked in prestige, they made up for in money which allowed them to simply bribe their way to respect. However, not all merchants were guaranteed success. Only those with a drive to succeed would see their fortunes prosper, and Akihisa was fueled with endless ambition.

An interesting phenomenon had occurred to Japan around the time he had lived. Sailors from beyond the oceans had arrived to establish trade with the country. The foreigners did not follow local customs but brought immense wealth to the islands. However, the government soon limited trade and interaction with these sailors and Akihisa had to resort to new ways to acquire their goods. Smuggling was the answer. Funneling goods through hidden harbors put him and his fellows at odds with enforcers but the riches were too good to forsake. This venture went on for years, further finding himself deeper in the criminal underworld.

His end was met at a mountain temple, where his lust for gold put him at odds with the monks who resided at the location. To his surprise, he didn’t find himself in the afterlife but soon understood the new reality of his situation. A few years of wandering the world in between worlds soon presented a unique opportunity for the ghoul as he had heard of whispers that the great Enma was looking to enlist mercenaries to his cause. Ever the opportunist, Akihisa found a new path to redemption and it was one that he could use his skills for.

Interested in this (most likely going with a Jikininki) though I do have to clarify something. As it's around the Edo period, firearms from the west brought by the Portuguese and Dutch would be in circulation. Would we be allowed to have one for our character?

Season 2/Episode 2 – A Traitor Revealed

"Patroller, compile last operation’s combat data… Oh, right. Desktop is not mech or voice operated."

These words would echo throughout the unlit chamber that Lieutenant Trainor called his room. The fluorescent bulbs that once illuminated this space burnt out long ago but, for a man who saw using the extrasensory, this was no problem. Fortunately, this odd quirk of his found good company within the halls of the Metro Tower – Home of the Justice League. A year of sorties with demi-gods and capable men would be an amazing experience for anyone. While true for Polarity Man as well, it also came with a ton of paperwork to optimize his prized Patroller Suit mech.

And the power outage had just thrown all progress from his latest batch. "… Please have data recovery." he would utter before leaving for the door. As he approached the exit, the decontamination showers he installed wouldn’t automatically go off. A big, red valve had to be turned for it to go off. And off it did go, as Lawrence’s unchecked strength accidentally tore the nuts and bolts holding the valve.

Water sprayed all over our hero, prompting him to weld the showers shut with his radioactive heat. Still soaking wet, he would phase from his room towards the lobby area. As he got there, a puddle of water would form under him but would soon evaporate. Perhaps from his rage? More likely from his heat.

“I would like answ- Mr. Wayne. Pleasure to have you. To what do we owe this visit?”

Hey there, I'm interested to join as a peasant sellsword. I've got the character written up and would like to hear your thoughts about him, though there is one aspect that I'd like to discuss in a PM if you'll give the go ahead.

Physical Description:

Standing at six feet, Lukasz would not stand out if it wasn’t for his height. Other than that, he’s just your regular lowborn trying to survive the harsh world.

Profession: A sellsword-for-hire, Lukasz will take the odd job here and there though he prefers caravan guarding and fur skinning to make his coin.

Starting Equipment/Belongings: A well-maintained iron sword, a red oak longbow and bundle of wooden arrows, and a leather armor set adorned by a green cape.

Background: Hailing from a remote village deep within the Velucian mountain range known as Byston, Lukasz was taught to hunt and fight at an early age instead of having any formal education. The village of Byston had been a frontier against nomadic raiders for as long its people can remember. Even under the imperial banner of the Aleviaryans, tribal raids were still a frequent occurrence that forced their people to take up arms and stay vigilant.

Having grown tired of the Bystonian way of life, Lukasz eventually left his home and seek riches elsewhere in his early 20s. Though it has only been a few months, interesting things have happened to him but the best is, hopefully, yet to come.

Polarity Man - Episode 9: Magnetic Nightmare

"Patroller, compile report and send." These words would be the only ones spoken by Polarity Man as they flew to the mission site. The pace at which the team flew was relaxing to the lieutenant who was accustomed to emergency response speeds. Even the glare from his fellow faceless hero, The Question, couldn't dampen this relaxing mood. After all, the earlier allegations directed at Lawrence were unreasonable and easily dismissed. No one could possibly side with Question if it came down to it, he thought.

Except for the second man to question him, the Blue Beetle. "Huh. Polaroid. Almost died out before André 3000's hit single drew attention to the brand again. Miracle it survived from its doom." the lieutenant would mutter before following Lantern and Beetle in their attack against Doctor Polaris. However, their target would get the advantage and blindside the Green Lantern, prompting Polarity Man to return fire with his own electro-beam blast.

While the Blue Beetle wisefully avoided the initial attack, Polarity Man decided to hold his ground as he could take a head-on assault. Hopefully, this would give the others enough time to enact whatever action they needed to do as the lieutenant knew the obvious weakness of his mech suit against a master of magnetic mayhem.

"Patroller, engage killswitch the moment a magnetic pulse reaches the outer shell. Divert all power to data storage via blackbox on same command." When the inevitable would come, Polarity Man would be prepared.

Episode 5 – Polarity Man

Polarity Man could only return the uneasy smile from Apollex (@ineffable) with one of his own, barely showing his mouth through his bandages but still noticeable up close. “Trust me, without the Patroller suit, I’m as much of a lia- err, as much as in danger as you are. I’m sure you’ll save my skin one day in return.” With his teammate in hand, Lawrence took a brisk pace towards the lobby area in order to not overwhelm Lexi while maintaining a sense of urgency. All the while, the rest of his fellow chosen wards of Doctor Fate had successfully kept the hostile heroes at bay though not without a few explosions here and there. Perhaps leaving the mech behind was a boon as it didn't draw as much attention to him.

As they made their way to the elevator that would lead them back to safety, the Blue Beetle (@rocketrobie2) had stepped out and instantly began deteriorating in front of Lawrence. Startled by the sequence, the lieutenant immediately ducked as Ted pulled out a gun, while shielding Lexi in case a misfire occurred. However, the Beetle simply fell on the floor afterwards.

“You’re coming with me, too.” Polarity Man declared with a sigh, placing his neck underneath one of the arms of Blue Beetle in order to get him back up on his feet. With a teammate on each side, the lieutenant escorted them to the elevator and repeatedly mashed the lobby button though this did little in speeding up the elevator door’s closing. As soon as they reach their destination, Lawrence would quickly rush for the Patroller Suit and join the battle against Extant. But for now, they had to endure the soothing tunes of the lift’s music as it descended the tower's levels.

“So… Crazy week, huh?”

Episode 5 – Polarity Man: Magic Immune Mecha?!

The flight back to the Justice League’s headquarters was somewhat disappointing for Polarity Man. Though he tried, his blaster’s speed could not stop Warp’s near-instant spatial displacement and now an intergalactic menace was in the hands of known supervillains. Lawrence’s only solace was the fact that perhaps Lobo was also giving them hell as much as he gave the team earlier. After all, with an ego the size of the Main Man’s, there was no way the Czarnian would just allow himself to be captured so easily.

But this was all conjecture. The only thing that he knew for sure was that the Patroller Suit needed repairs, and decided to immediately head to his quarters in order to do so. However, as soon as he entered the building, an emergency meeting had been called at the League’s training facility regarding one Doctor Fate. Seeing as it’s the League’s home base and the mech might take up more space than it needs to, Polarity man decided to leave his mech suit at the lobby. After all, only he can get in and out of there.

Curious, Lawrence stood directly behind the mentors so he would hear what their visiting wizard had to say. Perhaps he was a bit too close though as the good doctor covered Polarity Man in a sheet of viscous nasal goo in the middle of his warning.

“… I don’t think I’m vaccinated for magic.” the lieutenant said after the mucus seeped into his irradiated skin’s bandages. This would become the least of his worries though as the villain Extant teleported in the middle of the room and unleashed his brand of chaos upon the League, affecting even the mightiest of them with atrophy except for a select few that included Lawrence.

“I see laws of time and space seem to be more suggestions.” said Polarity Man as he slowly stepped back to take the entire situation in. While most of his teammates’ bodies were now immobile, some of them became mutations and rebelled from their owner’s minds. Luckily for him though, they were occupied with the other Leaguers. Wait, that wasn’t lucky at all because some of those very same Leaguers were now liabilities in the battlefield and needed to be escorted to safety.

Following Lizard’s lead, Lawrence would attempt to bring at least one of his teammates to the lobby as he made a break back to his Patroller Suit. In his quick judgement, he would choose Apollex @ineffable as she cried out to Rookie, who was currently dealing with Clayface and Toon Girl. Running up to his fellow Leaguer, Lawrence would tap her by the shoulder.

“I’m sure Rookie will be fine. We need to get you out of here for now though.”

A question: Why are some people still working on Ep.1 when others are on Ep. 4?

Episodes 1 to 4 are running at the same time but with different members assigned to it, with episodes 6 to 10 probably also following that format. Some episodes will have everyone participating such as episode 5 though.
