Started calisthenics today; not to lose weight, but to get toned and get a little stronger. It's a 5x/week type deal ChatGPT drew out for me, but my snap, crackle, pop knees sure do love to complain..

"I know...I'm just a bit shaken up by the dream, both physically and mentally."

Jennifer gave him a warm smile, but she didn't push the issue any further. Instead, she diverted their attention to the two kids keeping them company not too far away, because goodness knows they have it just as bad as Jennifer and Vin, if not worse.

"So now that we know them as well as Eli, I'm pretty sure that the targets on our backs has doubled in size. Maybe we should borrow some guns from Eric because something tells me we're going to be needing them."
"So, I think you're all set--"

beep beep...beep beep

"One second," Melanie begged, somewhat annoyed that her session kept getting interrupted. "This is Larson."

"Doctor Larson, hi. It's Lydia. I know I'm not scheduled to see you today but I was wondering if we could talk?"

"I--Yeah, sure. Are you available to come see me now? I'm just about done with my last scheduled appointment."

"Actually, Jeff and I are going to go grab some food but I can stop by after that."

"Oh. Well, sure, I guess I can do the same and then we'll both meet here."

"Perfect. Thank you very much!"

Melanie said her goodbyes and smiled at her patient. "Again, sorry about that. But like I was saying, ideally, we'd continue to see each other no less than once per week, just let me know what works best for you."

"Thank you, Doctor Larson." Carl slowly got up, his hand visibly trembling as he reached across the desk to shake hers. Melanie's heart nearly broke in two. It was rare for her to see elderly patients, much less one who would constantly remind her of her deceased father. Regardless of whatever ethics code she was violating, not that it mattered aboard the ship anyway, Melanie couldn't help but take care of Carl as if he were her own grandfather.

"No, we agreed on Melanie, remember?" she rushed to the door to hold it open for Carl, the man not being nearly as fast as her because his bones wouldn't let him. That, and it's hard to move at a quick pace with a cane. When he reached the door, Melanie gave him a quick hug. His sad eyes got to her every time, and it was made worse by the fact that she was probably the only person aboard the ship who knew about his troubled past as well as his current problems. "Take care now, and I'll see you again soon."

Once Carl was gone, Melanie hurried inside to quickly reorganize her office. Pick up some papers, put them away, rearrange the furniture a little bit and...done. She then turned off the light by the door before walking out, hoping no one else would recognize her and think she was taking appointments. The only reason she was working through the launch was because of Carl. He couldn't care less about such event, not after what he's lived through and has had to endure throughout his years, and Melanie was more than happy to help him in any way, shape, or form. But only him, he was the one exception.

Hurrying along, Melanie decided to skip the view in order to get some food before her next and last appointment. If she had time, maybe grab a drink as well.
Elizabeth propped herself up a little bit using her elbows, her eyes not as red as before so now there was no indication that she'd been crying. A little angry, maybe, but that's about it.

"Yeah, coming."

She pushed herself off of her bed and headed to the door, welcoming the nurse with a warm smile. Nancy was probably one of the friendliest staff members she'd encountered while at the hospital, so Elizabeth did her best to avoid making Nancy's job any harder than it had to be. She couldn't say the same about most of the other staff members there though.

"Oh god, this is going to make me sick as hell," she said to herself, grabbing the little cup to force down the horrible cocktail of pills. She made a face when the aftertaste nearly made her gag, and with one hand she crumbled the cup to fight against the instant wave of nausea. "Just as bad as the first time." Elizabeth said before slightly opening her mouth to show Nancy she wasn't playing her.

"All done?"

@Inda
After saying her goodbyes, Elizabeth grabbed a tray of food but she refused to eat beyond a couple of bites. The fact that the anniversary of her mother's death was approaching left her in the same similar state as always: lethargic, restless, and without an appetite.

Some time later she threw out her food and headed back to her room, deciding to skip the pill line and deal with the repercussions later. But it wasn't really much of a punishment, just an annoyed nurse accompanied by a guard who had to go out of their way to track her down and make sure she took her pills; the same procedure for everyone else on that checklist.

When she got to her room, Elizabeth settled down on her bed. "Time to draw!" she said in an overly enthusiastic manner, her big grin almost genuine. Almost. But before deciding on what recycled image she'd waste her time perfecting for the 19th time, she couldn't help but let a single tear escape the corner of her eye. In the blink of an eye, great sadness filled her soul, but it was often that her sadness was accompanied by anger. Now teary-eyed, she grab the notebook and crayon and threw them both against the wall, her mind dwelling on what she could have done differently that day to save her mother's life.
Make something up at random, we just started the game so you can choose anything you like.
@unfallenangel

In terms of pacing, will you be updating often or do we handle the little things like a time skip of a few hours?
"If only it was that easy. No, it's something much more...personal."

Elizabeth's eyes began to water a bit, but she refrained from breaking down in front of Josh. With years of practice, she had nearly perfected her manipulation of tears. But it should go without saying that her mother's death did indeed cause her terrible pain.

"13C, that's my room number," she continued, wiping her eyes with the back of the hand that was holding the crayon, "I'll explain everything later when you happen to stop by for a random inspection." She then took a few steps back looking down at the cute dog but knowing she'd get her hand bitten off if she attempted to pet it. "Alrighty then, I'll leave you to your job before we both get in trouble for fraternization or whatever term they like using around here."

@Polaris North
After finally reaching the cafeteria, Elizabeth came across the same image as every other day--patients eating, chattering amongst themselves in their small groups, save for the loners who preferred their own company, and also the strong presence of the guards watching them all like hawks. She couldn't help but smile when she noticed Josh, probably the youngest guard within the facility, casually leaning against the wall as if he were in some boring frat house party.

"Greetings", he said to her, and she returned the gesture with a quick wave.

"Josh, my favorite guard!" Blatant lie, she equally disliked them all. Nothing personal, they just stood between her and her sweet freedom. "How open are you to doing favors for someone like me? You know I've never given you any trouble, not in the two years and some since you've been here."

She was hoping like hell that he'd bite, and maybe then he would actually become her favorite person there.
"Ah, just like home."

Jennifer watched as Nate walked away before diverting her attention to Vin, who appeared to be confused as to why she had suddenly given him the cold shoulder. But hell, she was confused herself. In all honesty, Jennifer wasn't too sure anymore whether her so-called friends would refrain from killing her for whatever reason. Chalk it up to paranoia, or lack of sleep, but she had a bad feeling things were slowly getting worse.

"Hey, can I talk to you?" Jennifer asked him, guiding Vin away from the other two. "This is a bit hard to bring up but I'm just gonna come out and say it. I had a dream you assaulted me, but only it wasn't you the entire time. At first it was just my stepfather and I having a conversation, but then he attacks me, and when I looked back at him again it was you. I know that dreams don't always mirror reality, but please understand that I can't just put it behind me so easily, not when part of the dream happened in real life."

Jennifer didn't say anything else, instead she waited on Vin to see how he'd react and what he'd say.
Kelly gasped in surprise when she realized she had been spotted, and she immediately took cover behind some large tree. As she tried to control her breathing, a slight breeze carried over the faint scents of the man and his dog. It was then that some part of her wondered what they would taste like, but she had just indulged in a hearty meal, and her human body was small, lithe, and unable to fit any more food.

As the four-legged canine continued to bark, Kelly couldn't help but grow more annoyed by the second. Part of her was itching to step out from behind the tree and shred the dog to pieces, but she was fighting herself to avoid doing just that. If she let the beast take control again, then the situation would go from slightly awkward--as it was now--to a downright murderous, catastrophic mess, and Kelly would much rather avoid that. But, alas, she didn't always get what she wanted.

"Excuse me, is everything okay over there?"

"Goddammit," she whispered under her breath in response to the man's question. When she peeked her head out from behind the tree, she noticed that the stranger had gone back to working on the bad tire. He must have grown impatient and annoyed more than anything, but who could blame him. His dog just wouldn't shut up.

"I'm fine," Kelly finally replied, suddenly walking out from the tree to be in full view of the man if he were to turn around. The dog stopped barking, probably intimidated by Kelly's appearance and the fact that she gave it a deathly stare. She could have sworn she heard it whimper, but she wasn't sure. Being that the man was fully distracted with his car problem, she dashed across the road ready to put an end to this.

The next few moments happened in a blur. Kelly attacked the man from behind, grabbing him by the back of the neck in order to smash his face on the side of his precious, silver car. This by no means killed him, but it gave her an advantage, not that she needed one. She then pushed him onto his back, using one foot to pin him down by the neck as he struggled to breathe, his face covered in blood already making such task harder than it should be. With her free hands, Kelly opened the back door and grabbed the barking dog by the collar.

"Lu--don't hurt...please."

She pressed down harder against the man's neck, and his struggles decreased as the man got closer and closer to death. That shut him up, but he refused to watch as Kelly began to tear the dog to pieces, literally. The yelps from the dog were so loud that Kelly felt a little bit bad for it, but the beast within her didn't care. In fact, it enjoyed the canine's last few seconds alive as it watched the life being sucked out of its eyes.

Both lives seemed to go at once. The man's body ceased any further movement and it was physically impossible for the dog to make any more sounds. After a quick clean-up of the site, Kelly got in the car and drove off, although she wasn't sure too sure where she was heading just yet.
