My therapist mentioned referring me to a psychiatrist for anxiety medication, then at the next appt. said it wasn't a good idea as it doesn't the issue. I would've loved the temporary relief though...

Started calisthenics today; not to lose weight, but to get toned and get a little stronger. It's a 5x/week type deal ChatGPT drew out for me, but my snap, crackle, pop knees sure do love to complain..

Psych grad., can confirm.
I'm introducing some NPCs as I go along that will be part of Mel's story, so I added a picture of Carl from my first post (hope that's okay) and also one of Jonas just now.
Good luck? she thought to herself, wondering just how long her luck would last her. Hopefully it wouldn't run out any time soon, not before she had the chance to explore the ship and enjoy herself some...

"Mel!"

Melanie stopped and turned in the direction of the voice calling out for her.

"Jonas!" She immediately spotted him from behind the bar, a shaker in one hand pouring out whatever drink the PDA-obsessed couple sitting across from him had ordered. Melanie made her way towards her friend with the intention of staying there for her meal, but she left a few empty seats between her and the lovebirds. Nothing would ruin her meal more than sitting next to two slobbering idiots. "I know I said we'd hang out, but look at you, you're always working. How in the world are we going to find the time to do anything?"

"Is that your excuse? Because I'm pretty sure I've asked you out not once, nor twice--"

"Alright, I get it." She smiled at him before looking down at the menu. "Hmm...can I have the Belarus sandwich? And a double shot of whatever you recommend, please and thank you." Jonas scanned her chip to deduct credit for her drink before disappearing through a door. Meanwhile, Melanie's mind drifted back to her session with Carl. She was thinking about him for a good minute or two before she turned her head to look at the couple sitting not too far from her. It was then that Melanie gasped in surprise. She couldn't help but stare at the couple--her parents--in total shock. Part of her knew that was impossible, but another part of her also wanted to believe that they had been alive all this time, that they somehow faked their deaths for whatever reason and she was now sitting a couple of feet away from them.

"Can I help you?" asked the woman after she'd been nudged by her partner who was the first to notice that Melanie was staring at them like they were the headline from some freak show at the circus. Melanie didn't say anything as she struggled to find the right words to say to her mother after all these years. "Is no polite to stare." the woman continued, her slurred words an obvious sign that she was intoxicated. When she hopped off the barstool to approach Melanie, the poor woman couldn't help but suddenly feel threatened as her mother's face slowly warped back to the stranger's own. At this, Melanie shoved the woman hard enough for her to lose her balance and fall to the floor.

"Stay back! D-Don't touch me!" Melanie stood up with the intention to leave, but the man quickly blocked her path in an attempt to shield his partner from her.

"What the fuck are you doing?"

Melanie grew more defensive, kneeing the man in the groin before she had just enough leverage to slam his head on the edge of the bar top.

"Melanie, what are you doing?" Jonas came rushing out, but the last thing she wanted to do now was stick around. She grabbed her purse and turned around, noticing then that a small crowd had gathered around the bar to watch the chaos. As she focused on getting out of that place, Melanie felt a hand wrap around her ankle, pulling her leg out of balance. She too took a hard fall, then felt the weight of someone sitting on her back. At that moment, Melanie pushed herself up off the ground and to the side, then noticed it was the woman who was attempting to retaliate, but was obviously losing the fight. Melanie pinned her down before delivering a couple of punches that would draw blood, her sight limited to the tunnel vision she'd developed during their struggle. Before she was able to inflict more damage, Melanie felt a pair of arms pull her off of the woman.

"Calm the hell down!" she heard Jonas' voice very close to her ear as he forcibly guided her away from the area. Melanie slowly began to process everything that had happened. Another staff member was helping out the man, checking his head for any signs of damage, and one or two people from the crowd were approaching the woman on the floor.

"My parents--they were here. It was them!"

But Jonas wouldn't have it, knowing all too well that it was just Melanie's head messing with her.
"Alright, I suppose that's fair then. Thanks for doing this for me."

Elizabeth watched as Josh exited the room with his loyal partner following closely behind. When they were both out of sight, she instantly decided that she didn't want to be locked up in her room for the rest of the afternoon, so she headed out to the hall and decided to roam around. Elizabeth didn't necessarily head out with a plan in mind, but instead, she wanted to get to know the hospital as well as she could. Not that she hadn't started on that already, but she didn't know the place quite like the back of her hand just yet.
Alright, edited my post.
"Relax soldier, I'm not that dangerous." she joked, knowing all-too well that was a lie. The pup went over to Josh's side and Elizabeth opened the door to her room, just like she did every time she had an inspection.

"Alright, I'm just gonna come out and say it because you're not supposed to be here past a few minutes. The lease on my apartment is up in a couple of days. I don't have a power of attorney anymore, and I need someone to retrieve an item from my bedroom. On my dresser is a locket necklace that used to belong to my mother. On it are a few charms that we've acquired together every time we were out on vacation. Anyway, that necklace obviously holds a lot of sentimental value for me, and before I lose everything I own, I need someone to retrieve that necklace for me. That's the favor I'm asking of you."

Elizabeth grabbed her notebook and ripped off a piece of paper with her address already written on it. "You guys have access to the storage lockers, right? Just find mine and my key should still be with the rest of my possessions. If not, I'm sure you can find a way to get into my apartment. I mean, I don't think a locked door should stop you."

She knew she was asking for the impossible, but maybe it could get done.

I'll edit my post tomorrow so that Jack isn't as aggressive.
Kevin? Scared of patients? The guy could easily pass for a personal trainer with his build, although he did have a major disadvantage, and that was a lack of training. He was a simple civilian security guard, as far as Elizabeth knew, but beyond her long hair and brown eyes, Elizabeth was a trained killer. Kevin can't even begin to imagine what she's done in the past, so maybe he should be scared after all.

"Oh you know, just another typical day in paradise," she couldn't help the sarcasm that seemed to be tied to a lot of her statements, "I did some of my exercises, ate a little bit, and now I'll go find a way to entertain myself until suppertime. It's safe to say that your day is going a lot better than mine..."

Before she could continue, Elizabeth noticed Josh's dog walking up to her and Kevin to watch them. Alright, so there was still hope for the plan she had in mind.

"Well, I think it's my time for an inspection. And Kevin, don't worry too much about the patients here. Not all of us are psychopaths." She shot him a harmless wink before calling for Josh's dog to follow her.

"See you later, Kevin!"

Yep, she has her reasons. But I can't say...not yet :)
Elizabeth noticed Kevin, another one of the guards, from a distance. He was walking in her direction, and she was hoping that he wasn't around to replace Josh's afternoon shift, not when she had made plans and needed Josh around in order for said plans to work.

When Kevin stopped to greet her, Elizabeth was a bit surprised, but she was also on a time constraint and couldn't afford to waste her precious minutes.

"Hey Kevin, how's it going?" She looked around for Josh, but there was no sign of him. Damn, why wasn't he there yet?

Despite her anxiety starting to get the better of her, Elizabeth tried to remain calm in front of Kevin. If he noticed anything off about her, then he could possibly take up more of her time, time which she didn't have, not when she was on a tight deadline.
