Mithias reached his clawed white hand deftly through the window, grabbing the crank to widen the opening. He slipped inside without much noise. The window was behind a bookcase, which provided perfect cover. He sniffed the stoney, dry air. .. hint of chicken. He slowly walked around the bookshelves, listening to the echos of human voices. It sounded like a presentation was being given elsewhere in the manor. Perhaps it was a meeting. Mithias dared approach the doorway going out into the hall. He had heard a vampire lived here. It would be so much more interesting if that were true. He traced a finger along the banister railing. He wouldn't be making an appearance at the meeting, but he would be an undiscovered audience for it as he explored the upstairs. he found a number of private rooms, bedrooms, more or less, a washroom, some closets... the shiny metal of a suit of armor attracted his attention, and he approached a weapons room, which also had some old relics and trophies. He went to read the names printed on the plaques.

Ray smiled. He thought to himself (people around here are nice. This is the second person who asked me if I needed help.) He told the girl "that's ok. I'm on a vampire hunt and so like them I sleep doring the day and hunt by night. Maybe some other time." Then ray smiled at her.

She smiled back. "Guess we meet again sometime?" She asked as she sweeped her hair back behind her ear.

As he walked cautiously into the basement, groping around the darkness for a banister for some sort, Alex heard a few hushed voices coming from a room beside him. However, the carriage driver didn't skip a beat, leading Alex into a small but cozy room. "This is where you'll be staying," he told the young brown-haired man. Lighting a candle, the driver left Alex to examine his quarters and unpack.

The first thing Alex noticed the wardrobe. In terms of size, shape, and color, it was nothing extraordinary-made of oak, it was a dark timbre color and stood regally in the corner of the bedroom. The thing that stood out about it was the symbol etched in the center of it, overlapping onto both doors. Squinting in the darkness, Alex moved the candle closer to the wood. It was a relatively simple design....he could just barely make out the shape of a circle. Peering closely, Alex could see that there were rays of some sort radiating out of another smaller circle. He nudged the candle just a little bit closer, and straining with all his might, it finally dawned on him what it was. It was a sun in the middle of a perfectly round circle. Fitting, as vampires were creatures of the night.

Before Alex had time to do anything else, the carriage driver had returned. "Come," he beckoned. "You are wanted." Shrugging and blowing out the candle, shoving his trunk carelessly against the wardrobe, Alex followed him out. The older man pushed open another door with a grunt. Alex stepped in, admiring the lavish decorations that adorned the room. The predominant color was gold.

"Hello, Alexander," a matronly woman said pleasantly, smiling at him in a tight-lipped manner. Though her tone was friendly, Alex could see the steel in her hard blue eyes. "Welcome to Kingsley Manor. I am Katherine Kingsley, and you have been summoned here for a special reason, as you should know by now."

Alex was immobile, staring at her in shock. So this was the subsequent leader of the hunters in Great Britain? He looked at her well-defined features and plentiful wrinkles, taking in those steely midnight eyes and graying red hair. He swallowed, and smiled shakily. "Thank...thank you. It is truly an honor to be here," he replied respectfully, inclining his head in her direction before seating himself in the closest available chair. As the meeting continued on, Alex exhaled heavily. If Katherine Kingsley had the same influence on vampires as she did on Alex...well, all of them would be dead by now!

Evelyn soon fell asleep in her rocking chair, food gone, crumbs remaining. Her quilt haphazardly wrapped around her thin frame. She was sleeping with her lips parted, a curl resting on her nose and the fire crackling faintly, it and the oil lamp flame the only lights on in the entire home. The book she had been reading had been precariously perched on her knee and it now succumbed to gravity and fell to the floor with a thud. A hiss of wind broke the peace of the room as Evelyn inhaled sharply through her nose, eyes wide as she blinked and looked around for what had startled her awake. Her eyes finally came to rest on the book as it lay on the floor, and she rubbed her eyes, tired. ”Well,” she sighed, “Best I woke anyway.” She unwrapped herself and stretched, bare feet walking the cold wood floor to put on more wood to keep the fire on all night, and placing the book back in its place on a shelf. She took her plate into the kitchen, wiped it off, and then hesitated at the door to the bedroom. Her floral bed covers were made, lacey dust ruffle untouched. Everything looked positively perfect. And stark. And cold. She rubbed her arms at the loneliness before turning and going to her white chaise, grabbing the quilt once more on her way. She laid down firmly on the piece of furniture that was place just below a window bleeding moonlight into the room, covering up once more and drifting back to a dream state for the night.

Claire opened her door to her house and closed as soon as she got inside. She then went to her kitchen and put the basket of apples on the counter. She wiped her hands off as she went upstairs and changed into a knee-lengthed white long angel-sleeved night gown. She went to the fire and started it up. She sighed as she washed an apple and cut it into snack sized pieces. She then took some caramel and put it on the plate with the apple slices. She sat on the couch with a blanket over her legs as she snacked on her apples. The doors and windows were locked. Except one...

-Caroline-
Caroline wearily rubbed her eyes, having worked on mending the quilt until she couldn't see the needle and thread she was holding in the dim candlelight. Blowing it out, Caroline blindly tied a knot and shoved her sewing stuff back into the small basket she'd gotten them from and set it aside on a rickety wooden table. She shivered slightly-winter would be upon them anytime now. Shaking loose her curly hair, Caroline crawled under the covers and closed her eyes. Outside, it was pitch black, a starless night. The moon was nowhere to be seen either. Caroline twitched unconsciously as a particularly biting gust of wind blew fearlessly through her small cottage. Opening her eyes, Caroline padded softly to the window, gazing out at the sleepy village. She noted that there were a few dots of light, and shivered involuntarily, thinking of all the vampire stories she had been told as a child. Sighing, Caroline went back to bed. Eventually, she fell asleep, her face serene and her body relaxed. Outdoors, the night crept on.

Maria hurried through the halls as quickly as she could without attracting attention from the servants. She was well aware that she was dreadfully late for the meeting with the new house guardian. It really wasn't her fault though, honest. There was this really sunny spot on the top floor that the servants hardly ever went to. Tucked away in a corner, it was perfectly isolated and the perfect location for her to read. Before she knew it though she was waking up, and the sun had set.

Rushing down a flight of stairs to the basement she struggled to remember what room Gandmama was holding the meeting in. Bitting her lip lightly she hesitated outside the door that she really thinks is the meeting room. She smoothed down her dress and took a moment to straighten her hair before knocking on the door lightly. She entered the room and gave her grandmother a curtsy, "I am so very sorry Grandmama, I did not realize how late it had gotten."

Walking over to her grandmother she kissed her lightly on the cheek and gave her a sweet smile, "Please forgive me." She said in her best suck up voice. Then she turned her attention to the boy on the couch. Well, he couldn't really be called a boy. Her was definitely younger than herself, but not by much. Giving him a curtsy she smiled at him with a smile that didn't reach her eyes. Her eyes were cold as she said in a gentle, voice, "It's very nice to meet you, I am Maria Kingsley."

Then she took her seat next to her grandmother, watching Alex with her cold eyes that hid away her curiosity.

Alex turned to the newcomer with thick brown hair cascading down her back, and gave her a polite smile. "It is nice to meet you too, I am Alex Moriaty," he said, inclining his head. Lifting his eyes to her face, he noticed her hard eyes that reminded him of Katherine Kingsley's. The similarity between the two was striking, though not in the way one may expect. Katherine, with her dull red hair mixed in with gray pulled up into a tight bun and severe countenance actually looked extremely different from Delilah and her youthful features. However, the way they held themselves, the way their faces stiffened and the aura of authority that emanated off from both was apparent.

Turning back to Katherine, he took note of the way her eyes did not soften for her granddaughter. "It's fine Delilah, though please try to be punctual next time," the elder Kingsley said tersely. Clearly, she did not appreciate tardiness. Her sharp voice snapped Alex out of his daze. "Alexander, how is Margaret?" she asked, and he was reminded of his sister all over again.

"She's doing fine," he replied just a tad testily. Katherine nodded.

"Good to hear that," she replied, her voice not betraying any of her emotions. Alex sighed and remembered his sister who was nothing short of a 'prodigy' among the hunters, just as Delilah Kingsley was. Though, there was something very different about Delilah and Margaret. Delilah seemed quiet and a bit studious, and not very open to outsiders. Margaret, on the other hand, was a headstrong and hot-tempered girl, who enjoyed going spending time gossiping with some of her friends when not out an about on the streets of London. Alex felt dwarved by both girls, and he chewed on his lip. Alex was hoping that he'd be able to make a new start at Kingsley Manor. It seemed like he'd never be free of his reputation of Margaret's lesser sibling after all.

Maria's eyes wandered over the boy, examining him with a hunter's eye. He seemed to have some muscle under his clothes, but he wasn't very tall was he? It would be quite easy to get inside his guard, she thought. From what she had heard of him, he wasn't that spectacular at all. His sister that her grandmother mentioned was the shining star of their family. She wondered why grandmother didn't invite her instead. Quickly though, she dismissed the thought. She had met his sister a few years ago. If Margaret was anything like she was back then, then she was a loud rather annoying girl. Prone to gossip and flirting. Grandmother wouldn't enjoy someone like that in the manor she though, she much prefers a quiet house.

There weren't many places the hunters were allowed to be rambunctious in the manner, they could go to the pub in town for that. Of course that's where Maria had spent most of her time when she was younger, before she had mellowed out she had been a bit like Margaret. It had taken quiet a few punishments from grand mother before she had mastered her collected facade.

Tucking a hair behind her ear, she examined him with a girl's eye. Alexander really looked rather young. It was rather childish really, if it weren't for the muscles. His eyebrows were so bushy it was almost humorous, it made him look a tad older but they mostly looked silly. She smiled a tad wider at the though and it touched her eyes for a moment before they went cold again. His skin was as smooth as a baby's bottom though, he might appear a bit older if her grew some type of beard. Even some stubble would be better than what he had. Somehow she doubted though that he was even capable of doing so. It was dubitable that such smooth skin had come from a shave.

"How was the trip from London? I hope that it wasn't too rough on you." She said gently, turning the conversation to him as the subject. It was obvious that he choleric when his sister was brought up, and she was sure that her grandmother noticed.

"Martin Kingsley, Jacob Kingsley, Kathrine..." Mithias clasped his hands behind his back as he walked by the glass display cases. The room was poorly lit, but he didn't need any additional light to read easily. Black and white photos and painted portraits of the Kingsley ancestors enticed him. Mithias practically felt like part of the family. Hardly anyone nowadays had this much family history. Bible verses were written on the scabbards of swords and quivers of bows. A perfectly functional, bladed bola made his jaw drop open, and he went over to it. What a surprising weapon this would be! It was probably a bit slow to catch himself, as old as he was, but even Mithias admitted he would not have expected this to be thrown at him. He smiled, reaching out to grace it with his vampire fingertips, then drew his hand back. Ahh, it had holy symbols on it. Nice touch, hunters.

Things were far too quiet up stairs. Mithias' was more interested in the people who lived here. He wanted to meet this large and established family he had just seen so much of. Using his speed and heightened senses, he dodged the servant staff and crept his way into the basement. Now able to hear the conversations very clearly, Mithias ducked into a small bedroom. Looking down, he recognized the trunk from the carriage that had passed him earlier. An opened missive lay on the bed. "To Alex Moriaty..." It was addressed.

"And...here......we.....go."

And with these four words, Ledge's masterfully placed explosives demolish the front of the building in which many Vampire hunters reside, keep track of their fortunes....such things...and the smell of burnt cow crap, and lantern oil fills the air around the blast sight, killing no one, but causing quite...quite the ruckus. Most likely, anyone around for miles heard the bang, for it was far noisier than destructive.
"Now, all I gotta do is keep striking out at their little bases, take them out one by one...soon, I'll find the bastard that killed my sweet.....and I will spray his guts all over the walls...." Ledge adds, having watched the whole thing from a distant roof top. He waited, for human and vampire alike to come see the commotion....then, stage two can start.

-Alex-
A huge boom pierced the still night air, followed by screams, abruptly ending the meeting that had been taking place. The carriage driver burst into the room, distraught. Upon seeing Katherine Kingsley glowering at him, the young man bobbed his head before looking up with wide eyes. "M-ma'am, the front of the manor is on fire," he stammered out. Well. That was an unexpected turn of events. As Katherine began barking out orders, Alex cast a glance at Delilah. He gave her a nonchalant shrug that hid his uneasy feeling before turning back towards Katherine and the rest of the hunters.

They were ushered up a flight of stairs, and Alex noticed that several servants were working furiously to contain the inferno. Already, flames were licking at the opulent decoration of the front hall, having already demolished the door and part of the wall. Katherine Kingsley and her husband, Philip Kingsley, were nowhere to be found. Alex noticed the carriage driver beckoning them to the servants' entrance, which had escaped the fire-for now. Alex hurried to him, and the young man led him and a few other hunters outside and away to the relative safety of the woods. His heart pounding rapidly in his chest, Alex watched with bated breath as a fleet of servants lugged buckets of water to the fire, attempting to put it out.

Maria jumped about a foot in the air at the sound of the bomb. The only thing she could think to compare it to was the sound of canon fire, but this was much louder. It shook the walls of the room and made dust fall from the ceiling. When their driver came in and made his announcement she leapt up. Oh no. Oh no. This wasn't good at all. When she noticed Alexander simply shrug at her in response she was instantly furious. How dare he act so calm! This was her home, it was the only place she felt safe. Struggling to push down her fury she followed the servant up the steps.

After seeing how much damage the explosion had done her eyes widened in shock. What could have done this? A canon did not spread a fire this way. It looked as though a dragon from one of her books had attacked the front of her home. Following the group, she left through the back entrance but she left them there. Rushing over to the servants she quickly grabbed a bucket and started to join into the effort towards dowsing the flames. The servants hardly noticed her in their scramble to put the fire out.

As she worked her fury grew into that of a dragons. Who would have done this? Who could have? The only explanation that she could formulate was that the vampires had discovered the location and made their move. She would not stand for this. The hunt for whoever did this to her precious home would start tonight. They would pay for what they did.
