As the title says, it's something I've wondered about. I, myself never read a role play that I'm not in, but a remember when I was around maybe 13 I did read a few role plays I wasn't in. It was so long ago, it makes me wonder why do people read role plays that they aren't in? There are so many books out there so, why read a role play your not in? It is so different from reading your own role play since your activity writing in it. What makes you enjoy a role play your not in? Do you ever want to message the writers of the role play? How do you feel if the role play dies and your left with a cliff hanger that will never be answered?

Just some things I've been thinking about to avoid my studies. Oh procrastination.

I know what you mean, I've never read a roleplay that I'm not part of from start to finish, though I have skimmed through a few here and there because the story was really interesting. But those were countable on a single hand.

How did you happen upon the few that you skimmed through?

Randomly, if I'm being honest. It mostly happened when I was bored and looking through the OOC's and found an interesting RP that I couldn't join either because it was full or I just had too many RPs that I was in, so I went on and skimmed through the IC.

Interesting, were the rps in free, casual or advanced? If you don't mind me asking.

They were mostly in advanced, but one or two did show up in casual.

I have read a few roleplays that I was not apart of, simply out of curiosity. Not the WHOLE thing, but good portions of it if I adore the writers' writings - which I did, obviously. It's just like reading a book, save for it's two people responding to one another to expand the story. *shrugs* I don't think there is anything weird about it, to be honest.

I've been told by a few people the read the games I GM who aren't participating, and I've glanced at a couple from time to time, partially because the concept was interesting, partially because I tend to prowl for players who seem like they'd fit in well in my games if I'm looking for recruits.

No I don't. I used to click titles which I thought could be breaking rules (ex: smut rps) and report anything not Fonz cool. *shrugs*

Occasionally I will when I'm bored or am curious about it. Mostly I usually just skim though.

I've read the entirety of Mass Effect: Nova and The Elder Scrolls: Vengeance of the Deep because they are both engaging and well-written narratives that I quite enjoy. I also read Pachamac's The Legend of Heroes: Tales of the World for the same reasons. I feel engaged not just by writing but reading, I don't have to be participating to enjoy a good thing. Sometimes I like to pop in the OOC, but few tend to enjoy a reader's input I guess? Either way, I see no problem by it.

Though, I did just join Nova so I guess that doesn't count anymore.

Sometimes I skim through RP's. Usually because the title catches my attention. But I've never read a whole rp start to finish that I wasn't in. The closest I've been to doing that is reading the few posts of a new rp that only has a page of posts so far.

If i'm bored I like to read through other people's roleplays. I also do it occasionally to see how other people's skills at roleplaying are. Usually I do it just to better my own abilities.

i tend to, like most people it seems. To read some. Though most cases i don't bother. I tend to be very picky on what i read, so when it comes down to it. If i'm interested but i know my character in mind wouldn't fit i try to change it around while reading interactions. Though in the end i just stop. As for the ending becoming a cliff hanger. It doesn't bother me at all.

Other then that, it's also to look to see who i may possibly want to rp with.

I've spoiled myself with reading epic poetry on my spare time, which means that most other writing becomes extremely crude for my refined taste. It's my own damn fault.

I've found that over the years, as much as I've wanted to join an Advanced roleplay, I've never had the time to. Therefore, I've found myself reading a couple that interested me despite not actually joining.

I suffer from roleplay envy. If I've missed the chance to join something that I find particularly interesting, I lurk in the threads.

I've...only read one, from start to finish. Mostly because of its captivating plot and how perfect it was...aah...40 pages long full of emotion. xD
