I concur, almost all prewar knowledge is still alive at this point save the more esoteric intricacies of some sciences. At this point antibiotics, fertilizer, things useful for radiation cleanup, etc are all alive and well in even the layman who took highschool science. Maybe a couple more decades, if not a century of two of strife would hurt that but... I would say at the moment most of this would be community construction after the war, nobody has time to raise raiding parties or armies and raiding staving people for food seems folly.

Buddhism isn't quite as peaceful as you think. Yes it's in the teaching that you shouldn't take lives, but that doesn't mean all Buddhists actually listen to that rule. There have been plenty of militant Buddhists in the past.

Quite, militant Buddhism is not a new concept. Please read articles yourself before you call out others on it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buddhism_and_violence

@TheSovereignGraveNot really..and these are monks. Being that the entire nation is Theravada Buddhist (the conservative branch, I know this because that is what all Tibetan monks are); they follow the rules pretty strictly. @IsotopeI have many a Mahayana and Therevada Buddhist friend, and personally observe some of it's spiritual aspects.

I don't think the actual ruling group is made of monks, if I recall correctly. And violence by Tibetan Buddhist isn't unheard of either. And as for vegetarianism, Theravada makes a distinction between directly killing an animal and eating already dead meat. EDIT: And Tibetan Buddhists aren't even Therevada Buddhists. They're Vajrayana (which also doesn't mandate vegetarianism).

@TheSovereignGrave@IsotopeThere are only 2 main sects...shows how much you read. The sect known as 'Zen' is the only other sect that comes to mind (and it is technically Mahayana), it is also closest my own beliefs and I have extensively researched it. Please do not combat me. I know what I am talking about and I am on my phone cringing to make my point. They are lead by Llamas, which are monks. (The Dalai Llama is essentially a pope). Also, who eats carcasses? Unless they are body scavenging, they probobaly stay vegan. Some ancient hardline monks went military, but they were expelled from Buddhism. Perhaps if he adds that a militaristic sect took over, but Tibetan are Theravada Buddhist. Also, Vajrayana Buddhists are a subsect of Theravada. Buddhism is similar divided to Christianity in terms of a conservative and reformative branch.

@TerminalThere are few things in your nation that contradict the Buddhist region. Not trying to science/history nazi, but it can be viewed as offensive by some people to inaccurately interpret their religion. (I usually exclude Christianity, being they dish out to most contradictions and stereotypes). Granted yours are not I'll-sounding, just ignorant, but in any case I would appreciate if you just Wikipedia'd it or maybe looked on a few sites.
No offense taken, if there is anything you can tell me, DO SO. I am by no means an expert, and I am perfectly open to correcting/fixing any flaws present in my depiction of the Religion. That said: I did do some research before I wrote the whole thing, and I believe I have good reasons for most of what I wrote. Tell me what the issues are and we'll get this worked out.

@Terminal Thanks, it's really just meat and military. Military might be hard to work out, but a loop hole for mutants is possible, just mention that it exists.

It is beyond dispute Buddhists engaged in violent unrest in Tibet. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/03/16/world/asia/16iht-tibet.1.11134870.html?_r=0

Only 10 Chinese vs 70 Tibetans died, and that mostly because of fires started by the Chinese. Read article, then post. I have to say, proving you wrong when I don't have to is getting boring. PM with anything you think I need to hear as Co-GM, but Net-Fights never end well.

I am aware of the problems regarding the willing cooperation/collaboration between Buddhists and an obviously militant organization - I had intended to elaborate more on the exact nature of their relationship in the IC, but the short of it is that theirs is a relationship of necessity rather than an actual willingness to openly associate with one another. Additionally, none of the monks themselves are combatants or soldiers - they merely have a rapport with the forces of the Jade Palace. They have been explicitly asked to help maintain peace and order in the region by advising and watching over the settlements; when it comes to actual peace-keeping and law-enforcement, the Palace usually steps in. As for the meat: I never indicated that they partook, but it's not a great secret that there are entire breeds of domesticated goats raised solely for the meat, everywhere in the world - and not everyone in the Kunlun mountains is a monk. People need to eat, and it's the apocalypse. That said, there is a significant meat shortage (as indicated in the sheet), and I would be surprised if the monks were getting any of it.

...The article says that there was a mob of 200 Tibetans. And they were throwing bombs and setting fires. Regardless of the fact that only 10 Chinese died, there were still Buddhists rioting. It doesn't seem like they were monks, but it doesn't seem like the monks in Terminal's nation really do anything violent either. They mostly just govern it looks like; with some monasteries housing Jade Palace troops.

Last post, I mean it this time (as I do acknowledge doing nothing is a sign of being wrong, but it is still boring) The Monks are creating an Army to face...what in their collection of hermitages? They don't have an army for their ancient oppressors, yet now they do for a non-exsistant "better-to-be-prepared"...that is the inaccuracy.

But the monks aren't creating an army. The Jade Palace isn't made of monks. I am reading your sheet right, aren't I Terminal? EDIT: Hmmm... The map isn't really working for me, so I think I may need to use a different one. My nation's going to be rather small, and can't find the specific area on the one we're using.

@Marshall I would say 2055, chaos is pretty quick. If we wanted to, we could currently make the world like that (-that type of mutant, or mutants in general) within a year. I think 40 years is enough to set up makeshift nations. Also I think a harsh winter in January 15 would be good :P @TheSovereignGrave I concur; the Rhineland is hardly visible. I think I made mine too big. @Terminal In that case, if you were elaborating on it IC, then I see your point. I would personally just add a few tinges of guilt when referring to it.

Well, realistically any significant mutation would take a long time to become prominent. And i still see the issue that in Western Nations very little scientific knowledge would be gone.

Ha, look at my nation. It's even smaller than the Rheinland. And if it wasn't for Mashall making his nation only a single city, I'd be the smallest nation! Grrr... :P EDIT: Ha, that typo of Marshall's name is rather amusing considering my nation. EDIT II:

Yeah. I think it should at least be long enough that nobody actually is left who was actually alive during the Apocalypse.

@TheSovereignGraveI feel your pain, but remember that old borders most likely aren't in effect at the apocalypse. You could probobaly just wing it, then show the actual on close up. @IsotopeThat has always been my problem with this genre. I will spam Marshall about it.
