I meant it as a ratio, meaning that if there were 10 level 1 swordsmen, there'd be 990 normal plebs.

1:100
10:1000

1000 - 10 = 990

Sorry if that was a little unclear :P

Level 0 = 1 in 1 (kind of) AVERAGE
Level 1 = 1 in 100 (*100) BETTER THAN 99% OF THE POPULATION
Level 2 = 1 in 1,000 (*10) BETTER THAN 99.9% OF THE POPULATION
Level 3 = 1 in 100,000 (*100) BETTER THAN 99.999% OF THE POPULATION
Level 4 = 1 in 1,000,000 (*10) BETTER THAN 99.9999% OF THE POPULATION
Level 5 = 1 in 100,000,000 (*100) BETTER THAN 99.999999% OF THE POPULATION
Level 6 = 1 in 1,000,000,000 (*10) BETTER THAN 99.9999999% OF THE POPULATION
Level 7 = 1 in 100,000,000,000 (*100) BETTER THAN 99.999999999% OF THE POPULATION
Level 8 = 1 in 1,000,000,000,000 (*10) BETTER THAN 99.9999999999% OF THE POPULATION
Level 9 = 1 in 100,000,000,000,000 (*100) BETTER THAN 99.999999999999% OF THE POPULATION
Level 10 = 1 in 1,000,000,000,000,000 (*10) BETTER THAN 99.9999999999999% OF THE POPULATION

It gets less and less worth it to level up as you go.

EDIT: If this proves anything it's that @Medjedovic shouldn't leave us on our own for too long

Wait hold on a sec, that would only be true if those numbers were a percentage of the world population, but population is always a set number. Earlier Santa said that level 7 is enough to be better than anyone who ever lived so in terms of modern population Level 7 is already enough to be better than 100% of the population.

That's the way percentages work. For example if there are 100 bottle caps and you said you had 99.999% of bottle caps, you really have 99 bottle caps and MOST of the 100th. But you could say you have 100 bottle caps just cus.

In the same way, is the above. You're not REALLY better than 99.whatever percent of the population because you can't be better than MOST of a person like you can have MOST of a bottle cap. But if you take (X-1) and divide it by X where X is how rare your skill is as a representation of 1 in X then multiply by 100 that's the percentage you get. In reality, it's irrelevant past a certain point because the decimals become negligible due to how small of a difference they make as a proportion of the population.

EDIT: My point is that the percentage above are mathematically sound(if I got my decimals right) but it doesn't really matter

His logic checks out, you know. Population isn't really a set number, but it still works because 1 in 100 means 1%.

Anyway, I tried it with real numbers and here's what I found:

Assuming everyone in the modern world had sword skills, there would be 700 million level 1 or better swordsmen out of the total population of 7 billion. The level 2 swordsmen would number around 7 million people, meaning if you became a level 2 swordsman, you'd leave 693 million people in the dust. But that's less than a level 1 swordsman leaves, because the rest of the non-level 1 population would number around 6.3 billion, and the gap keeps getting smaller.

So yeah, it checks out. But from the sheer number of people in the world, it's kind of worth it to get into the big kid's club of level 5. Looking at it from a numbers point of view might discourage you, but from a person's point of view, it's good to add up people who are worse than you.

If you like numbers so much maybe I should've used old system which was more numbers heavy...

@RoflsMazoy About your CS: You don't get to have more magical aptitude than being born Ashan. After that it's only practice.

Change the duration of your fire magic to 5 posts, not minutes. And do you give bonuses to your enemies or penalties to your allies while in overlimit? Also, the additional effect is troublesome. As things stand all your spells will already be lv.5 while your fire magic is activated, supercharging won't do a thing for them.

Your Wind Magic is unnecessary, you can levitate perfectly fine with your wings.

Lightning bomb is fine as is, I don't see why you think it's overpowered.

Textbook magic is a no. It's too broad.

@Medjedovic
I was referring to Ashans having affinity for all magic meaning he could learn a fire spell just as easily as a water spell where others would find it more difficult. But yeah, I removed it anyway.

For Anima Overflow, both enemies and allies get a boost to their magic levels equal to half the skill's level and I didn't realize we had an upper limit for magic so I had Supercharge. Also when I was writing out the ability it was only Lvl.2 but I changed it later after I realized I got two extra power points for being an Ashan.

What I had in mind for my wind Magic was that he used it to get up from bed or from when he's sitting down. Also my friend told me that it takes a ton of energy to stay afloat in one place using wings and I wasn't sure if Ashans had that kind of flight power so I added that bit at the end.

Back when I was first writing out Lightning Bomb I said it had the power of a bomb 5 times its size which I approximated to be the size of a rockmelon. I thought it was pretty overpowered for a Level 2 ability anyways, although 3 times is still almost as big as a head.

I removed the textbook magic.

EDIT: I'll probably be adding an extra skill because I kinda have too many power points right now

@RoflsMazoy Like I said in their racial description, Ashan's ability to fly is purely magical, they can hover in one place or move around slowly as much as they want.

I assumed that Lighting Bomb is simply AoE spell which electrocutes people within a certain range. Even if it's level is low, if it covers a lot of ground it would do less damage.

Well I guess so. I imagined Lightning Bomb to be more like Bliding Bolt from Dark Souls 2 except it explodes and throws out all the lightning at once.

@RoflsMazoy That's how I imagined too. So the point from above stands-if you make the range big then the damage will be low at lv.2

I rechecked your CS. Gravity control is more of earth magic than water.

@RoflsMazoy Your character has 8 lvls in powers, when an ashan gets 7 in total. Just thought you'd want to know.
One too many.

"Oxidals aren't attuned to any magical element so they don't get any points to spend on powers. Instead they have to spend their advantage points to get access to magic. On the bright side, Oxidals can't be manipulated by Spirit magic or be detected by Ashan Third Eye and Erdevar Magical Sense."

They start with three extra anyway but if you want to use magic you have to use your Advantage points since you don't get any magic points.

@RoflsMazoyI missed this before, but you can't level up flight. Racial traits in general can't be leveled (Baraki's Beastial Advantage is the only exception).
