So I'm thinking my and @Vanq's character could do a quick sally and take out a few siege engines before falling back. Probably made up of warg riders for speed. (Kind of reminds me of TOtal War :P)

Probably in a collab, just thought I'd mention it here in case that doe not mess will with anyone's plans.

Half-Face is going to argue to Radush and Dakgu that at least some of the wargs should get out of the castle and the encirclement while they can, so they can harry the enemy's rear while they try to storm the fort. Your sally can be a diversion to give the main warg force some breathing room and get out of the bunny's human's tightening encirclement? Just a thought.

Well normally if you assault a castle you don't waste time and manpower with an encirclement. The attackers might have both the manpower and materials needed to quickly take the fortifications by storm, and if this is the attackers' preferred policy then it would be more beneficial to not encircle the place completely, because totally isolated defenders might be motivated by desperation to fight to the death while the presence of a hope for escape (however false) might cause demoralized defenders to rout and abandon the defenses prematurely--as in some dramatic instances during the Three Kingdoms period in Chinese history.

Though since they don't want any survivors they might actually encircle anyway. Ya that makes sense, so Nargesh's sally can be a diversion, after all it would be a very foolish defender indeed who would let the besieger work unhindered along the siege-lines; as long as there are warriors /blades to spare, any good defending commander would send small parties with missions to wreck the attackers' siege engines, disturb their camps, spoil or steal their supplies, harry their trench-digging or fort-building parties, and mess up with their preparations for escalade or similar endeavors.

On that note then, who want's to be part of the sally to disrupt the enemies siege weapons and preparations? Heck I imagine two different sally teams could work best to cause some confusion and avoid the enemy focusing on one. As a side note, Nargesh can carry at most one other person. :P

I would, but Bel-Gond is currently setting up to ensure that the gatehouse remains in orcish hands. While it is true that it is currently the easiest place to defend, all it would take is one or two people to open the gate and provide the humans outside an opening to charge through. Doesn't even need to be one of the attackers; There are plenty of humans inside of the fortress who would happily welcome in a human army over an orcish one, even if that human army doesn't exactly have their best interests in mind...

Besides, Bel-Gond is made for defensive fighting like this. Just tell him where to set himself up and he'll make damn sure nothing gets by him while he is alive... and his dwarfish blood will make damn sure he sells his life for a damn good price.

True facts. Can we hash out exactly what the attacking siege looks like? HeySeuss mentioned the ladders in the initial post, and I mentioned a ballista, but beyond that it's as of yet unclear. If they're a much larger attacking force, they're likely to press the attack in several spots, meaning that they'd have a ram or two deployed going for the gate, and likely one or two batteries of two-three ballistae/rock throwers of some kind near the back. The reason I'm suggesting all ballistas is because if this is a castle that Ren Arad would like to keep, he's unlikely to seek to damage the walls more than he has to in an attack, and is more likely to focus his attack on scaling the walls and breaking the already weakened front gate.

Thus, I'm proposing that the siege that he does have is more anti-personnel than anything else, and needs to be taken out for a sortie to be undertaken or even a fully effective defense of the ramparts. To that end, it looks like Kavu will try to repurpose some damaged defensive artillery that wasn't used in the initial defense, and I'm sure Rassmata can devise some explosive trickery to damage one of the batteries. My plan is to leave it up to some of the other characters to use their own skills to silence the remaining ballista, while Kavu then moves down to join the main defending force on the field.

Also, I introduced junior Quartermaster Narvek, a rather dour and short-tempered Orc, who Kavu sent to supervise the work crew helping with the gates. If you're over there, you're welcome to use the NPC. Consistency and such, after all. @Sypherkhode822, if you want to collab on the lolorcishartillery explosions post, let me know!

Almost certainly going to be watched though, so will still require speed to be unseen. Speed, trickery, or a diversion. An exploding diversion. If you want to also collab a loud boom of some kind from across the battlefield, I can happily make sure that happens in the collab between @Sypherkhode822 and I.
