Ere' we go! Ere' we go! Ere' we go!

This RP is now accepting new characters

Summary:

- A jaunt of daring and do within the Warhammer 40,000 universe and setting.

- Characters can come in most shapes and sizes, their age, experience and so forth pretty much up to the participant; that being said, I will immediately reject any God-like beings or over the top characters.

- Violence and so forth are expected and accepted (we're Orks), let's just keep it to a 'adult' level without it getting X-rated!

- Our tale takes place in the most up-to-date period of 40K timeline, the beginnings of the 41st Millennium.

- This is for Greenskins only - that said, all 'levels' of the Orkoid food chain are open for application.

- No-one is to begin any higher than a Nob in rank, there's a point to this.

- Character sheets will be accepted based on merit alone, not 'first come first serve'; the more odd/powerful your character, the more exceptional your character sheet will need to be.

- I fully expect, and intend, for characters to evolve over time during this RP. An example might be that someone loses a limb and seeks a bionic replacement, whether they get one will be both up to me as GM and the participants as a whole; character sheets will then be edited to show any changes, as with a TT role-playing game, and just remember that every action will likely have some form of reaction.

- Please read these threads on Freebooterz, and Orks if you're not sure where to start or need a refresher on Ork-kind.

In Character Info:

The Orks, also called Greenskins, are a savage, warlike, green-skinned race of humanoids who are spread all across the Milky Way Galaxy. They share many features with Warhammer Fantasy Orcs (and were initially called "Space Orcs" to distinguish them). They are seen by their enemies (pretty much everyone else in the universe) as savage, warlike, and crude, but they are the most successful species in the whole galaxy, outnumbering possibly every other intelligent race, even Mankind (with the very plausible exception of the Tyranids).

Greenskins are one of the most dangerous alien races to plague the galaxy. Numerous beyond belief and driven always to fight and conquer, the Orks threaten every single intelligent species of the galaxy. Orks are possibly the most warlike aliens in the 41st Millennium, and their number is beyond counting. Amid constant, seething tides of war and bloodshed, burgeoning Ork stellar empires rise and fall. Mercifully most are short-lived, soon destroying themselves in a maelstrom of violence and internecine conflict, but should the Orks ever truly unify, they would crush all opposition.

The Orks' unquenchable thirst for battle has always proved their downfall: historically, the Ork tribes have spent much of their time fighting amongst themselves, waging brutal wars with only the strongest surviving. On occasion, an Ork leader will emerge who is mighty enough to defeat his rivals and unite the warring tribes. His success draws other tribes to him, and soon a great WAAAGH! is underway -- partly a migration, partly a holy war that can exterminate the populations of entire star systems. When the Orks are on the rampage, the galaxy trembles, and in these dark days of the End Time, there are more WAAAGH!s rising than ever before recorded.

This is where you come in.

Now is the time of gathering, but space is a very big place indeed - the Milky Way Galaxy but one part of it - and who is to say what lies beyond the fringes of the known? Now is your chance to join a crew of Freebooterz and mercenary Orkoids, to gather some excellent teef, and eventually to rise to the top of the pyramid.

Out of character info:

Welcome, one and all, to the grim darkness of the future where their is only war!

As part of a group, you shall obviously be forming an Orkoid collective; first as Freebooterz or simply singular Orks, but later on...who knows?; that being said, I have no doubt that each and every character will have their own agenda, motives and overall goals in mind, and I would hope for nothing less.

To begin with, as stated above, we will have a short 'gathering of the klans' - basically getting everyone together - from there we shall go ahead with a narrative I have prepared and see where it takes us. Let it be noted, however, that this is more like a sandbox RP - if anyone has a flash of inspiration, or an idea, them please PM it to be for discussion. I am the GM, but I am not the only player or mind here.

I expect everyone will have some knowledge of Warhammer 40K, but for those that might lack a little, I have always found warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Warhammer_.. to be one of the best places to look. Just make certain that the information has a source, otherwise it is very likely fan made and therefore not canon.

The 'Warboss Mechanic'

One Ork may challenge another at any time during the RP, they will then both be required to post their own version of how the fight will go down. Actions taken and so forth. It will then be up to a vote of their peers to pronounce the winner, and ultimately who rises through the ranks the quickest. Points to take into consideration when voting will be Orkiness, likelihood (a Grot winning over a Nob with just a rusty knife?), comedy and general writing skills - this should not mean that those with a lesser grasp of English be penalised, so no worries.

Rules

- Sort your squabbles out in private. If you persistently disagree with another player or they're grieving you, involve me. If necessary, I will get the moderators involved.

- Try to post at least once a week, let me know if you can't post soon, and please try for at least three paragraphs.

- One character per player.

- My decisions are final.

MAN WHO'S EXCITED FOR ORKS RIGHT?! Not a lot of people, apparently. Come on, let's talk about this a bit more. For starters, I half-lied about the Flash Git on my part. You'll see what I mean.

yea, my flash git has some trappings of a mad mek in him too. He built his own snazzgun for example.

@Natsucooldude Psh. Any Ork can build their own Snazzgun. That is, it's literally a trait of any Ork that they can build their own basic guns even if they're not a Mek, and adding multiple barrels is presumably not that much harder for them.

aye, but can they have a revolving tri-barrel snazzgun that accepts literally any ammunition you throw in the ammo hoppper? (with attached napalm rokkit launcher because why the hell not)

The Age piece is stumpin' me a bit. Anyone know what typical Ork lifespan is?

As far as I am aware, there is no cannon for it. If I had to take a guess at it, I would say longer than a typical human lifespan (given that Orks have far less organs and generally less that can go wrong overall) plus their semi-plant nature would probably mean that they are not plagued by many human illnesses.
Do note that Orks, given their nature, probably don't see the end of their lifespans as it is.

A good reference is Ghazghkull himself. He managed lead the First War for Armageddon which was in 444.M41. The Third War was in 998.M41. Given that 554 years have passed and Ghazghkull is still merrily chugging away, leads to believe that Orks CAN live for multiple hundreds of years. It probably corresponds to how much they fight and grow.

Given how Ghazghkull was well alive before even the first war for Armageddon, it leads to suspect that he is at least a few hundred years old.

Yea I was doing research on Orks and couldn't find much for age. Course since they fight so much only the Warbosses and Nobz would be really old, since they have lived through so many battles.

I was surprised to find out they are the same size as humans, just way wider and beefier. Always pictured them being Space Marine like in height. Again, probably just the older and higher ranking ones, since I did find that they continuously grow over time.

EDIT: CS finally complete. Sent off to Da Boss for approval.

@Savage To wit, an Ork Boy generally stands at roughly the same height as a human. However, they would be substantially taller if they weren't hunched over all the time, and would therefore probably be about Marine height, maybe with slightly more growth than is standard for an Ork Boy.

Indeed, much like Astartes there is no real age that is seen as a 'cut off point' for Orks. They fight and grow constantly until they die...if they're not dead, they're just ageing and getting bigger. Orks also get far larger and beefier after defeating a rival.

So...yea.
