The sun’s last bit of warmth slowly faded from the sky, the warm colors blend into the darkness of the night sky. In the distance the roar of a car comes upon the gates to The Cross Academy followed by the screeches of breaks. A dark private car sits at the gate, a silhouette of a hand waves from the driver's seat to the guardsmen. As the gates creak open, the car pulls through the gates to the building inside the protected perimeters. The driver stops the car and gets out. A well dressed man in a nice suit and jacket appears, a very handsome man, but with a hint of exhaustion and stress. He walks over the the back door of the car and opens it. A beautiful woman steps out of the car. A white dress flows around her body that nearly blends in with her pure white hair. Her dark soulless eyes though contradict her beautiful appearance. The driver bows slightly looking at her. “Master Chiba… Are you sure you want to do this” the driver says hesitantly. The woman looks at him with an almost disgusted look “I told you not to call me that Walter, my family might as well disowned me so that’s not my name anymore. Call me Miki, and yes I am sure I want to do this. This has to be done” Miki walked around to the back of the car and popped the trunk, she pulled out her belongings and tugged them along behind her toward the doors to the building. Walter stayed back, knowing it best not to stop her now, watching as she walked into the building and the start of a whole new life.

Vada looked around the room and gave a small sigh laying back on her bed. The walls seemed to white for comfort and she made a mental note to request for them to painted to a more welcoming color, like pink or purple. Her bed sat against the large window which she kept covered with dark red curtains that reminded her of blood. It made her stomach turn to as she realized she was actually alone at this huge academy. Her brothers comforting spirit would not be around to hold her together. All she would have are the memories they shared in the home she was longer welcome at. Her luggage was stacked on the far end of the room by the dresser and she moaned as she stood up and began to put everything in their assigned drawers. Her mother wanted her to learn manners, to meet a nice vampire boy and make the King family even more powerful. Her parents were all about status and Vada knew her mother thought of her has the worst thing to ever come about in the blood line.

Miki walked up the stairs in the dorm house, taking note of all the details in the room. The elegant furniture reminds her of home, she rolled her eyes and continued to walk up the stairs. As the moon slowly rose in the sky she started to feel more power, wind slightly blew around her feet. Though it wasn’t strong enough to cause damage, she sat down on the stairs trying to contain herself. Miki was only 115 years old but in those 115 years she didn’t pay any attention to her power given to her by her bloodline. She didn’t learn to control it well when the moon peaked the sky, the night being the most powerful time for vampires. Although she was born a vampire and lived for the nights, she always wondered what the daytime sun felt like, how it must be to walk the streets in the day and do normal things without worrying about killing or being killed.
A few deep breaths later she managed to her feet and kept moving to her room in the house.

First time moving in a room by herself without a maid trying to help. She sighed to herself “I’m alone...for the first time I am alone” a slight smile peaked her face. She jumped into bed and hugged her pillow. The room was pretty barren but it was perfect for her, simplicity was perfect for her. Although… as Miki looked around the room she thought a few things to un-liven up the place wouldn’t hurt. Shaken her head at the bad joke she made to herself she thought best to go interact with those she will be attending the academy with.

Vada walked through the halls hands stuffed deep into the pockets of her jeans. Her pants hung loose around her waist, but she didn't mind too much. She had a little pink sweater over top that showed her stomach a little. She tended to feel a little colder than most vampires due to her ice abilities. Vada had just gotten used to walking without leaving sparkling feet prints in her wake. Controlling her powers had come easy to her ever since her brother taught her. She was ruled purely by emotions so as long as her feelings were in check she had a handle on it. She glanced at the walls filled with portraits of some of the pure blood vampires and a smile appeared on her face. She looked up to them, but at the same time she resented their status. She had trouble comprehending how they were better than her and vampires like her. "Just because you've never been involved with a human doesn't make you all mighty. At least I get to pick who I spend this elongated life with," she whispered as she heard someone in one of the rooms.

She knocked lightly on the door and waited for a response. Maybe I can make a friend... she thought knocking again. She could sense someone in there, but she couldn't tell who exactly they were. She leaned against the wall and waited for a response. "I don't bite...much," she said with a small chuckle at her own joke.

Miki twitched her nose as she heard the two knocks. Guess I’m making friends now...she thought to herself. She slightly rolled her shoulders forward to get the door. She holds her hand over the doorknob as if to think if this is really the best thing to do. She shakes her head and pulls the door open. There before her is another student.. Or she was thinking it was another student. The girl was beautiful, as most of the vampires were but something extra special about this one...She just couldn’t figure out what it was. She flashes a toothy grin “well you know when a vampire bites another vampire and they feed off each other they are to be mated..or was that just on the neck?” she pondered it for a second with a smirk on her face. Miki reaches out a hand “The names Miki Chiba, who do I have the pleasure of meeting?”

Vada shook her hand as she blushed slightly, "I'm Vada King. You probably know me as the black sheep though," she said as she let her hand fall back to her side. She had heard of the Chiba family from her brother. He had always mentioned how beautiful the daughter was, but seeing her in person was like seeing an angel. She stuffed her hands into her back pockets as she did her best to play it cool. If she had known the school had girls like Miki she would have come here sooner. "Are you new to this place or have you come here in previous years?" she asked with a smile.

A smirk broke out on Miki’s face, she noted Vada placing her hands in the pocket. Miki flipped her hair and straightened her white dress, attempting to show off her body to see if Vada’s facial expressions changed. “My my, why is such a pretty thing like yourself a black sheep?” Thought back on the last name King… Surely she remembers something of it...A formal event hosted by her family maybe? Or did her uncle say something about the name? She wasn’t too sure so she acted neutral when the name was spoken. “This is my first year, just arrived shortly before you showed up at my door. How about yourself?” She smiled back looked her over and looking down each side of the hallway very briefly seeing if the other students were out and about or gathered somewhere.

Vada nodded, "Yeah, I'm new here also. My parents strong armed me, although after meeting you I'm glad to be here," she said looking at her feet. She began to wonder what her parents would think if she thought Miki home. Would they approve or would they turn her away for good and continue to try again from scratch. Since her brother was killed Vada had overheard her parents saying how they were struggling to birth another son. They wanted to raise this child right, better than they had Vada. They couldn't figure out where they went wrong with their daughter. "Do you think the others will be here soon? Or maybe they're also hiding away in their rooms," she said nudging Miki a little with her foot.

Miki blushed slightly at the comment. She was always sought after by many looking that her parents have found. They all came for her looks, not to see if she was a good person or not. Men would come and bring gifts.. To her parents and then just look Miki over silently. Miki was asked not to speak, like if she opened her mouth all the men would flee. They only saw her as an object to mate with to gain power and pleasure. To be honest, Miki got use to being used for pleasure, it didn’t really bother her...up until she left...Miki snapped out of thought when Vada nudged her. “Hmm..Oh, maybe, was thinking that myself. I wonder if we are going to meet the headmaster. Do you think he has much say in the school or are the rumors true and the night class is just run by the vampires?” She thinks back trying to remember anything her cousins told her about the school.

Vada shrugged, "To be honest I never really researched this place. My parents thought I'd learn to control myself if I came here. I kind of hope we get to meet some humans. I always love to pick their mind. I did hear that they go crazy for our class," she replied with an excited expression. She probably should have looked into the academy more than she did, but since it was more of a last minute choice she never got around to it. She had other things to do like shopping for clothes and saying goodbye to the little bit of friends of she did have. "I'm very into the whole friend vibe they have around here between humans and us. I wish we could mingle more though. Maybe we can have a little mixer event!"

She clasped her hands together with a huge smile on her face and wide eyes. She jumped a little thinking about it even though she assumed the idea would be shot down in a second. The new age idea that humans and vampires could coexist in harmony was looked down on by the older generation and she never understood why. The more people they had on their side the easier it would be to survive. The hunters wouldn't feel the need to kill them. Her brother could have been kept alive.

Miki smiled softly at her and nodded. She liked the idea but knowing how the school is run it mostly won’t happen. She looked slightly around again before turning her attention back to Vada. She knew what her parents would think if she ever met a human nonetheless coexistence, an abomination, a disgrace. That’s why she is doing what she is doing it. She wants to be a part of this new world, where everyone can get along and no one has to suffer anymore. Snapping her attention back, “Uh yea, the school is nice, it's more of a social event… But it's better than being alone…”She shook her head and looked up and smiled. “We are doing a good thing, and everyone here has the same idea as we do." She twitches her ears and wiggles her nose. Her attention goes to down the hallway, "I don't think we are alone.” She nods down a little ways to see a figure come into light. A tall lengthy man walks up to them, he was cloaked oddly so she has to study him for sometime. The man removes the cloak over his head briefly revealing his face and stared her straight into the eyes, red meets red, his was more of an ancient red like it has seen the world in its fullest. Just as quickly as it was revealed he dropped the cloak back over his face. Miki awkwardly bows “Sir… What a surprise to meet you here” Miki looks at her hands and looks to her new friend hoping for some saving grace.

Vada watched the interaction before her skeptically. She wasn't sure if this man would be friend or foe, but she followed Miki's lead and bowed herself. She looked the man up and down a little confused. She wasn't standing in the best spot to see his face so she could only use her friends reaction. "Hello, sir. My name is Vada King, who might you be?" she asked politely. She made a silent prayer that this man wasn't too important. She would look like a complete idiot if she didn't know a head family. Although her knowledge of the higher ups was very limited. Her brother was the person who cared the most about stuff like that. She preferred not to engage with people that looked down on her. Maybe she heard his name then something would click inside her, but as of now she wasn't sure and based off Miki she wasn't sure she even wanted to know this man.

Miki looked over with some relief and looked back at the man waiting to see if he would relieve himself or expect her to do it for him. Just as Miki was about to speak the man replied with a quick nod “Ah the King family… always forgot about the daughter… hm..” He nodded again before pulling away his robe revealing white hair matching Miki’s. “The name Sir Chiba, I am the eldest of the Chiba line, and uncle to this one here” As he said that he looked down on his niece with some amount of pride and a big smile showing off large white fangs. Miki just nodded and smiled with some slightly disapproving look upon his uncle's eccentric welcome. She shook her head lightly “Do you know of the others? Where are we all suppose to be meeting once we got here?” she looked around again for any signs of life around her.

Vada's eyes went wide. She knew exactly who he was now. This was not a man her parents would ever want her to speak with. "I am so sorry, sir. I should have known sooner. Excuse my ignorance," she said as she ignored his little remark about forgetting her existence. She was used to a response like that, especially when it came from someone of his standing. She was more a thorn in the side of all her fellow vampires. Her parents used to threaten that one of them would eventually contract a hunter for her head. She turned back to Miki a little sheepishly, "maybe they're on the lower floor...I can leave you with your uncle if you like," she said trying to keep herself composed. Vada always struggled with manners and making sure she was standing properly. She did her best to stand tall, but it was foreign to her. She tended to slouch to make up for her height, which her parents always hated.

Miki’s uncle placed a comforting hand on Vada and smiled down at her “no need to worry my dear, I welcome everyone, and I’m sure Miki over here does too.” Miki smiled and nodded looking at Vada, “me and you can go, I’m sure my uncle has other business to take care of” she looked awkwardly at her uncle hoping she was right and he wasn’t to stay long. She loved her uncle he was more of a father than her own father but he was a bit...eccentric in his ways he does his work. She walked over to Vada and took her arm and lead her down stairs leaving her uncle behind. She giggled slightly as a faint breeze hit their feet as they walked down the stairs, she walked in a child-like manner up until the bottom step, the breeze died and they were left to face the rest of the student body of the night class and the president Kaname.

Vada stayed close to Miki as she did her best to focus on what was being said. The other students seemed slightly less friendly, and some of them seemed to already have cliqued up with the more good looking of the bunch standing as Kaname's right hand men. She wondered if Miki would eventually end up there, she looked like she'd be a perfect fit. There was talk about avoiding the day time class students, and the main rule of not feeding off them. She could feel some of the tension between the vampires who didn't fully believe in the coexistence that this school was turning to, but she did her best to stay perky.

"Miki, do you think we'll ever get to join the humans? They're such fascinating creatures. Surely if we don't let them know we're vampires we could at least socialize, right?" Vada asked once president Kaname finished speaking. She had heard rumors about him saving a human girls life, that she was instantly a fan of his, but something seemed a little off to her. She'd never let her true feelings known though. As far as the night class was concerned she supported him without question.

Miki looked at everyone and listened patiently, little did they all know she was so nervous to be there. She had to keep a calm appearance otherwise the wind inside would be terrible. She heard all the rules, which of course she knew already, she looked around at her fellow kin some of which she had know. Then there was him, the pure blood of all pure bloods. Kaname. Oh how she shook when she was around him. Her parents desperately wanted her and him to marry, oh how great would their family become if she only tried. Her family tried to set them up before but the chemistry wasn’t there, not like that ever matter to her parents. It’s all about image. So her and Kaname have been on a close relationship ever since, but neither of them acknowledge it. For the most part he acts like she doesn’t exist which is ok with her. Miki looks over at Vada and smiled at her, just something about her being close made her feel happy, maybe it was because Vada was Miki’s first friend she made by herself. “I do hear there is a holiday where the humans give out chocolates to those who they admire and the night class is allow to be a part of it. Maybe then.” She smiled and nodded happily.

Vada suddenly felt a bit of a breeze that appeared to come out of nowhere. She looked around to see if anybody had left a window open, but they were all closed with heavy curtains over top of them. She frowned a moment as she went to ask Miki if she felt it also. That was when she noticed her new friend staring at Kaname. She cocked her head to side a bit sensing some tension between them. He was a good looking fellow, but completely out of Vada's league, although she did dream up fantasies about possibly getting him into her chambers. With a small laugh she turned her focus back to Miki who had just responded to her inquiry. The girl looked like her mind was elsewhere, but Vada decided not to question it just yet. They had only just officially met so she felt like it was too soon for her to be so invasive.

"I absolutely adore chocolate. I better get myself out there so I can more chocolate than you," Vada said with a laugh, "some friendly competition. Although I doubt I stand a chance. You're the most beautiful girl I've ever seen." She gave Miki a little flirtatious wink and then erupted into laughter. Soon she had all eyes on the two of them. She put a delicate hand over her mouth as she realized she'd just stolen focus from Kaname and he didn't look particularly pleased.

Miki snapped her attention to what was going on, rolled her eyes at Kaname’s disappointed gleam. She stared back at him “can we help you Kaname? I’m sorry we had to find some way to keep entertained, your speech was going on for so long.” She said to him without skipping a beat. She glanced around the other students realizing that they weren’t alone, the breeze picked up again and she knew this time everyone felt it. She looked back at her new friend, she just took the fall for her because she can handle whatever Kaname has to say. She didn’t want Vada to see Kaname’s bad side, Miki has dealt with it before so it doesn’t phase her anymore. Miki gave her a smile and then looked at the other students, all of them gasped at what she said and other looked around the room to figure out where the breeze came from. Then she brought her attention back to Kaname who didn’t look happy at all. Kaname looked to the students “You all may go, Miki with me outside now.” He nodded to the students and to Vada and turned to walk outside. Miki look around at the other students leaving and looked at Vada “Don’t worry, I can handle myself, I’ll meet up with you after ok?” she smiled and followed Kaname outside.

She walks outside and see Kaname standing there, disappointed look and all. She folded her arms and leaned up against the wall. Kaname cleared his throat and walked over to her “Miki what are you doing here? Do your parents know you are here?” Miki rolled her eye “Why does it matter to you?” she pushed off the wall and walked over to the railing. Kaname followed her over “because I still care Miki, whether you believe me or not” Miki snapped at him, the wind really starting to pick up “You care? Really? So leaving me alone all those times after after…” Miki started to cry slightly, a slight stutter made out her lips “You think I don't believe you? I don’t, you feed from me and then you just leave… you're so predictable, you're just like everyone else they tried to set me up with, heartless. If you care so much then just leave me alone, I don’t need them and I definitely don’t need you” Miki turned to walk away and Kaname grabbed her arm. He pulled her into his arms to calm her down. Miki struggled in his grip “Let go Kaname” He looked down at her and kissed her forehead and let go. Miki stared him dead in the eyes and a blast of wind hit him in the chest nearly knocked him over before she ran to go inside. Miki walked up the stairs quickly. She didn’t care if she got in trouble, not like he could do much anyway. She made a dash for her room, maybe if she packed fast enough she can leave before anyone sees her. She thought about Vada and stopped in her tracks. She made a friend and Vada seemed to care for her. Miki shook her head, Vada might change her mind once everything comes out… Miki gets into her room and collapses onto the bed.

Vada turned to walk upstairs hesitating a little as she glanced over her shoulder at Miki. Guilt started to fill her mind knowing full well it should be here out there getting yelled at, not Miki. As she climbed the steps she noticed people moving aside and glaring at her. It was no doubt they knew she was a King. She could hear the whispers began as they mentioned her brother Clement. He had lived up to the meaning of his name as gentle and merciful and was considered one of the best bachelors in their species. Girls constantly swooned over him. He had the looks of a prince and his personality was more charming that should ever be allowed. His voice was calm and inviting. Him and Vada looked almost like they could be twins except his hair was darker than hers.

"That's her. I can't believe she actually came here," a voice whispered.

"I hear she's the reason Clement died. She was trying to befriend a human he turned out to be a hunter," another voice.

She felt a sharp pain in her stomach as she realized people tended to get in trouble whenever she was around. Clement had died doing what big brothers do best, protecting their younger sibling, and now Miki was getting in trouble because of her. She looked around at the students to see if she could find a familiar face, a friendly face, but the only person she'd really known before coming here was Hanabusa Aido. Her parents had made the attempt to set the two of them up, but his family was too prestigious. He'd graciously agreed to at least have a sit down with her. Since both of them held the power of ice she'd had fun trying to out do one another.

"Aido," she whispered and gave him a small nod.

Hanabusa hesitated a moment before shutting his eyes, "King, I hardly expected your parents to be okay with this school. Your tendency to give benefit of the doubt towards all humans could be the down fall of yet another one of us," he said harshly.

She flinched at his words before rushing pass the remaining people and going to her room. She heard footsteps chase after her and as she got to her door a hand touched her shoulder. She opened her bedroom door and Aido followed her in.

"I'm sorry, Vada. I have to keep some level of class in front of the rest of them. I can't be seen talking to you, not now. Not after his death," Hanabusa said quietly.

She shrugged a bit before turning around to face him. It had been her brother who convinced Hanabusa to give her a chance. It was right before he died that they sealed the agreement. The two of them had been rather close friends so it was only natural for Clement to want his sister and Hanabusa to be joined together. "You don't need to pretend. I know you suffered a loss that day. I was stupid, but I've learned my lesson. I told you that months ago. I promised you then on his name that I would be less trusting and I have kept my promise," she said letting a smile show on her face.

Hanabusa nodded and turned to leave. His hand reached for the door, but before he left he looked back at her. "If he hadn't died that day I would have agreed the arrangement your parents wanted. I would have taken you, but looking at you reminds me too much of the friend I've lost," he said and made a quick departure.

Vada felt like someone had knocked the air out of her lungs when he told her that. She had assumed he'd rejected her because of her standing, not because of her appearance. She touched her face gently and noticed her hands shaking. The blankets she was sitting on became solid like a rock. She clearly hadn't learned to control her power yet, not in the way Aido would have taught her.
