Who has at least a moderate understanding of GURPS? I'd like to know there are potential players before I go pitching ideas.

I do, though more as GM than a player, and mostly using an increasingly battered looking copy of the 3rd edition Basic Set. I've read the Characters and Campaigns books for 4th, but haven't got an opportunity to play them (my group makes weird, slightly pained noises when I've got the books out), so I think I qualify as having a moderate understanding!

I have a pretty okay understanding of making characters in 4th. Takes forever for me if I'm not given any strict limits (somehow longer if I am). >.> Not so much of an understanding of rules in play, though, since everyone in my usual gaming group gives up on it. I'm more curious than anything; I'd play to see what this one is like. It's one of the ones I have but have never gotten to play. I've made some moderately interesting characters, at least?

I can work with this. I'll be honest when I say that I've only read C&C 4E and haven't GM'd a game longer than a week, but these were because of very bad scheduling and player apathy, which heightened my anxiety into flaking as a GM.

But, hey, ever see Buffy the Vampire Slayer?

If this did end up being a thing, do you have any specific rules planned? Like "OMFG NO MAGICAL LOCKET THAT LETS YOU LIVE FOREVER AND REGENERATE INSTANTLY! I don't CARE how you managed to fit that into under 50 points!" or "We're using Xst/nd/rd/th edition rules, mkay?" or "yes, you absolutely can be the special little snowflake you want because there's no build point limit~" or even "I have this idea I want to try out..."?

(I'd be more likely to be interested if I knew my limits and something about the world)

But if the Buffy question to Hylozoist was a hint as to the themes and universe, then...maybe.

There's gonna be rules. I'll usually only be a stickler for rules at character creation and in combat, but outside of that, clever thinking/playing > rules.

And I ask because I do have a player interested in a Buffy game and has already made a Slayer, but that's on Discord, and I don't know if asking anyone to play there is technically illegal on this site.

Both of you are welcome to join as Scoobies, however!

How strict will you be on what we can be? Do we have to be human? I mean, demons, vampires, and werewolves are things and at least two were affiliated with the group, but I barely remember anything from that show for other options or for exactly what traits each possessed ^//^

Well, Willow was Witch Supreme, Oz was a werewolf, and Xander eventually became not useless in the comics.

You guys are going to be teenagers. Don't worry about the power level. This kind of stuff can be obtainable, if you seek it out. But to start with, you'll be human teens.

I know GURPS 4th edition fairly well and DMed it for years and years. Its a good system, especially for Buffy.

The Beauty of GURPS is finding the right books; I only ever collected the 2nd and 3rd edition stuff when I found it in the dealer's rooms.

I collect old games when I find them because I love reading them even if I can't find any players; I was reading Gamma World yesterday and laughing myself silly.

Now I want to hunt up my Tales of the Floating Vagabond sup. "The Night Was Fluffy" or maybe "The Reich Stuff"

I actually have the Buffy RP book by Eden Studios

Sorry feeling nostalgic, never played it but enjoyed Buffy and Angel

I've only just started to get into GURPS and sometimes feel a little overwhelmed by the plethora of stuff for it. But I think I like it and am now keeping an eye on this thread. Maybe playing a game here will give me a little confidence to try GMing a table-top game with it. :)
