I don't think you quite understand the gravity of raising a child.

I know it's lots of money, lots of time, lots of effort too. I know that children can be little pains in the asses, break stuff, make your life a living hell sometimes. But I also know they can bring joy beyond imagining, and I know that they can sometimes be a hell of a lot smarter than adults. Yes, raising a child can be/often IS a royal pain in the ass. Yes they can be little shitheads sometimes and make you want to throw yourself out of the nearest window. I get it, I'm not completely naiive and stupid.

BUT, with all the joy a child can bring, I just think for all the complaints about them, it'd be worth it. While I've never raised a child of my own, I've spent a lot of time around my own family...watched my cousins when my uncle had to go out, been around friends of my family who have kids. So I've seen how annoying they can be (my cousin made me want to toss him out of the airplane with parachute on his back LOL), BUT they can be really great too! I honestly want a child someday, so if I ever find anyone to be with in a romantic way, hopefully she'll either be up for adopting or is capable of having a child of her own.

And I apologize for the sudden seriousness in an otherwise light-hearted topic D:

Have you had one? Did you raise it alone with little to no help from others? I haven't either. We both aren't.

4. It's not the same and it's beside the point.

My point is that some people just aren't meant to have children. It's a huge responibility and you have to be willing to sacrifice literally everything for your child. You can't think of yourself first anymore and that can be surprisingly difficult. Some people shouldn't be parents and that's fine.

I wholeheartedly agree with this point. I've literally been thinking of dozens of examples of the exact same thought for weeks.

True that, very true. I think if someone isn't willing to dedicate themselves to their children, it would be best if they decided *not* to have them. Because it really screws with the persons head when parents have their child, then friggin give them away--or abandon them, and never friggin have a part in their life. It's like, "wtf did you even have me for then" when that happens. Still, better to give the child up for adoption or something, than to halfheartedly raise them, all the while harboring secret (or not so secret) feelings of anger/regret towards them that they eventually pick up on.

Like you said, some people just shouldn't be parents!

I'll tell you now, if you have children, you will be angry with them. Often. You also will probably love them so much you want to die. But there will be anger.

You got your answer, if you don't like someone's reasoning for doing something that's your right.
But not liking or agreeing with a reason doesn't mean said reason doesn't exist.

But for the sake of answering the question just so you can't claim "You're dodging it".
(Plus being male, I'll treat this as a hypothetical)
I personally probably wouldn't post right off the bat cause I'd be distracted.
But sometime between the water breaking and giving birth if for nothing more than a way to reach out to everyone I know at once with the news incase they wanted to get to the hospital and see the baby.

It's a matter of why, as in, what the fuck actually causes the need to set time aside during urgent scenarios such as childbirth to update a status? It's weird behavior.

Also, posting the news on social media rather than calling your loved ones is very poor manners. It's better to call those who you want to be involved directly. And if you got a woman pregnant, to answer your hypothetical, and instead of actually being with them for the process (unless it's a c-section) you user your phone, I would hope they break your phone or whatever device you're using. There really isn't any down time between the two for the second parent involved unless there's a c-section, or if they are denied access into the room with their partner. Also, to tap in to your social media bit again, why would you let anyone except for those you actually care for know? Fuck people who aren't playing important roles in your life and who you do not love. They don't matter to you, so there's no reason to tell them. The most you'd get from them is a couple reblogs, likes or retweets aside from the pseudo-excitement they'll try to show you online.

EDIT) Furthermore: Your "nice try" comment: your username sounds like it'd be the name of a condom from a dead end pilot show on Adult Swim. You should have stuck with Gwazi, because at least we could abbreviate it to where it doesn't sound dumb while also leaving out Magnum.

This, if your water broke and you're not in extreme pain yet you're just kind of bored and waiting for the mind boggling excruciating pain that will both re-arrange your organs, and shift the bones inside of you to make way for this massive parasite that will leech money, goodwill, and any energy you have for the next 18-25 years. That was the last moment of peace she'll have, don't you shit on the last moments of wellness she has before she has to go into the cold disgustingly dreary mine that is parenthood.

You're so cheery.

I already gave one, quick way to notifying everyone.
Which may be exactly what you need if you're expecting to start pushing the baby out at any moment.

Heisenberg said It's weird behavior. Also, posting the news on social media rather than calling your loved ones is very poor manners. It's better to call those who you want to be involved directly.

Depends on the individual and how you were raised.
I assume you were raised with the "Doing things over the phone is rude for big deals" sort of mindset?

Many people see technology like facebook as simply tools to accelerate the process of informing people.
It's not rude at all to inform someone of news somewhere they probably check a lot, and where notifying everyone can take 2 minutes rather than say 2 hours.
What one person thinks is rude is not rude in everyone's mind, cultural differences after all.

Heisenberg said And if you got a woman pregnant, to answer your hypothetical, and instead of actually being with them for the process (unless it's a c-section) you user your phone, I would hope they break your phone or whatever device you're using.

You're hypothetical was having your water break. Not being with someone whose water broke.
So the hypothetical I treated as assuming I myself was pregnant, hence hypothetical and why I felt the need to point that out being male.

Heisenberg said Also, to tap in to your social media bit again, why would you let anyone except for those you actually care for know? Fuck people who aren't playing important roles in your life and who you do not love. They don't matter to you, so there's no reason to tell them.

Cause it also notifies those you do care for maybe?
You can set lists if you want for status to only show for those 'important people'.

Plus some people restrict their friends list only for those they care for. Not everyone's adds every person they've seen the face of before.
Also, just because someone may not be too close is no reason to avoid giving them said info.
You have a kid, sure you won't go out of your way to tell them, but why complain about them knowing if they do happen to find out?
