@Mr Allen J
In my case, there are two types of players - the contractors and servants. I logged in, read the oldest ping first, and in the board someone asked if contractors post first. I remember the night prior the GM mentioned he'll be making the intro soon, so I replied the someone: "GM said he'll post intro first" in case they mess up the order before the GM replies.

Then GM tells me "if I look into IC I'd see they posted". Hurt me with that sass, but okay, move on. Saw the intro was really vague and made me unsure how my contractor should begin the scene where my servant is signed to me, since the "rules" of the world may be not what my wild imagination led me to be.

I admitted to GM I don't know how to start because the mechanism is unclear for me, since the intro really doesn't even touch the process at all, and I clarified I asked in respect to his world.

My answer?

"Well I never said all contracts are obtained the same way, basically it's (a procedure to get contract)."

It pissed me off so much, especially when the head and tail of the post are contrasts, and the GM was all "I try to be supportive and make sure everyone's needs are tended to" to someone else in the group right after sassing me. Now I'm just angry I wept a few tears about it. And angrier because I feel petty to want out before even stepping foot in the IC.

If a GM's a cunt, their RP's gonna end up smelling and feeling like one big dirty cunt. I'd leave in that scenario.

Somewhat related, I can't help but roll my eyes at people that act like they take pride in being an uncompromising fuckface(may not be word-for-word) as a GM or whatever else, even if I know they're joking. It's just comes off as agonizingly edgy and it makes me want to pry their kneecaps off with a crowbar.

As a general guideline, if I'm not having fun with a roleplay, I don't keep roleplaying. Having fun is a chief goal, so if other players or the GM is ruining the experience for me, I'll politely inform them that I'm dropping out and vanish.

Rule of thumb: if it feels more like a chore and less like a pastime, it's probably not fun anymore.

(I'm lucky enough to be GREATLY enjoying my roleplays at present, though... I'm actually really loving GMing on this website thus far, too.)

I quite liked the premise, and since a friend is in it too, I want(end) to stay - especially when said friend is roleplaying with me in a thing together for the first time.

I feel like if I made a CS, hyped about it after pulling my friend into the roleplay, and decide to quit because I'm such a baby, it's something ... shameful? (For myself!)

Have you folks ever experienced or felt such scenarios?

Just recently, actually! A few of my friends were creating a new roleplaying website, specific to a particular anime. I reached out to an old friend, and convinced him to join the creation process. Of course, just weeks later, everyone was at each others' throats. It was a miserable experience, and I ended up leaving. Had to tell my friend "sorry I convinced you to join, just to leave."

Yeah, I had a BIG event like this go down this last year. One of my tabletop friends moved to Washington state, so we decided to continue our in-person game online. But things didn't play the way I expected, and it also got really weird because folks - players AND their characters, mind; OOC and IC - decided my character was a "bitch" for not wanting to date someone else's character. Various factors came in, and I just decided that playing the game was a chore / not fun. I didn't want to be a part of the game anymore. So, I left, even though that was the only game I had with my online friend.

I sometimes regret that for various reasons, but... I dunno. When I start to not enjoy a game anymore, I just stop.

This is an odd thing to bitch about but what gets me is that realistically I would of been dead 40-70 years roughly before the idea of personal spaces ship become a thing and individualist space expansionism takes place, unless bionics becomes really good at keeping old people going I'm never going to get to fly around in a crappy, low grade death trap and jokishly call myself Han Solo.

The current state of affairs doesn't lift my spirits for a new space race either, especially after that whole shirt fiasco for the comet landing. My only real hope that a modern space race culture will take place if Mars one mission is successful but I'll be shifting past middle age before I know that or not.

God Speed you magnificent bastards none the less.

RIGHT?!

I'm like, "Okay, so I know I lived through 8-bit to full blown touchscreen games, and from rust-prone cars to these mar-freakin'-velous vehicles that run on hydroelectricity, and from wooden long houses to concrete stilts, tiny fuzzy television to plasma LCD, but is it okay if I witness inter-planet travel too? Preferably before I'm too old to try it out?"

Well, we got some luck. I think we might just get a break when we're very old to see space travel but nothing what it would be like if we had own ships, you know. Virgin open up a space visit trip called Galaxy but it costs a hell of a lot and uses some new kind of transformer plane/space ship hybrid, you also got to under go astronaut training or something. That's not inter-planet but its commercialization of things exclusive to astronauts, maybe if Mar One is successful galaxy will set up some sort of vacation to mars and we can all overthrow the oxygen taxing government/corporation.

Still, it's a real boot up the ass of my hopes and dreams of being a legit space fairer. I want a rebirth of the colonial days where Europe went "holy shit. We can use wooden ships to go to places" but with space ships. It's also be great that if I get really sick of a places shit I literally have infinity to fly into. While now I got to go home and watch cat memes.

VR stuff coming out dulls the pain though.

Forgetting Ignoring.

@ScreenAcne
Dude, you're not alone in this. I have a friend who said he wants to get married on the moon. ON THE MOON.

UPDATE: Guess he just wanted to be over the moon on the moon. Poor chum.

Support your anti-aging project today. Hey, they made a pill that can extend your life span by ten years so the transhumanist can't be too off on their adamant support of life extension sciences. Our best chance to the whole thing.

Oh, oh. Puns. I believe you and I are going to get along. One sec, let me try one.

I bet he's a huge frank Sinatra fan too.

Yeah, from what I understand wishing to send their spouses to the moon is a common desires.

Would you sass a kid in your RP if they commented that your intro is too vague to understand the mechanism of your world?

That's just needless snark, I can be playful AND have a backbone, but never will I belittle my players in such a way. Never.

He's lucky I like my friend in it enough I don't drop the roleplay like hot potato. But I do feel a bit of regret convincing my friend to partake in it now. Childish, I know. ;d

How so?

It's not too difficult to beautify a post, well to me at least. Something I noticed a few months ago was the use of greys as text, along with knowing how to fool the BBC code into performing in certain ways.

  • Item 2: Pellentesque id felis ut ex ultricies dictum ac vel turpis. Fusce ullamcorper mauris quis dapibus semper.
  • Item 3: Maecenas ultrices felis id rutrum finibus. Morbi at consequat mauris. Donec quis eros mi.
Simple CS design

EDIT: (Yes, an edit in this early) The grey color I use is CCCCCC, but some people use different shades. It's just enough to soften the look and allow white to act as a natural bolding agent. Even without 'colour', greys can help any reader as blocks of white tends to look rather harsh on the eyes.

Firstly Underlines and spacing
L O R E U M I P S U M
[h3][color=ed145b][u][b] L O R E U M I P S U M [/b][/u][/color][/h3]
L O R E U M I P S U M
[h3][u][b][color=ed145b] L O R E U M I P S U M [/color][/b][/u][/h3]

By positioning the colour code outside the underline code, the line will be white, otherwise it will follow that colour. Also note that each letter has a space in between it so that the headings don't feel so cluttered. Compare the below.
L O R E U M - LOREUM

It's not much, but it can help with changing the look and feel of a heading by making it grander. Also I tend to put 4 spaces between words so they are packed out and not crammed together to accidentally form a single word.

The other thing to try is spacing between lines and where you place your BB code. Horizontal Rules are easy to see as they tent to be unusual with their workings.
Example
[Hr][Hr]Word[Hr][Hr]
Word[Hr]
[Hr]

Word

Word

By adding a new line, the HR actually drops to the next line, thus creating a space. This unusual attribute also extends over to align tags, indents, headers and even lists. Understanding this will allow you to trick the code into adding spaces when you need it, and hiding them when you don't. Going back to my header example you can see it in effect.
L O R E U M I P S U M
Dolor sit amet
[h3][color=ed145b][u][b] L O R E U M I P S U M [/b][/u][/color][color=ed145b][sup][b]Dolor sit amet[/b][/sup][/color][/h3]
L O R E U M I P S U M
Dolor sit amet
[h3][color=ed145b][u][b] L O R E U M I P S U M [/b][/u][/color][/h3][h3][color=ed145b][sup][b]Dolor sit amet[/b][/sup][/color][/h3]

By keeping the text within one H3 tag, I can reduce a space and condense my wording up. Also, note that I used a sup tag which will keep the font of the H3 text, but the text size will be closer to normal text size, thus tricking the reader into thinking a different font has been used for regular text. Sup also raises the text so it will blend in with the heading, but the sub tag can be used for a similar effect with words in a paragraph.
Dolor sit amet:
Suspendisse fermentum pellentesque dui, quis consectetur dui hendrerit a. Class aptent taciti sociosqu ad litora torquent per conubia nostra, per inceptos himenaeos. Nunc tempor risus sit amet posuere sollicitudin.

Finally, the TAB button is also a space button (most people work this out by now) so it's great for creating tables and an alternative to indents.
Lorem Ipsum
dolor sit amet | 5 |
consectetur | 72 |
adipiscing elit | 100 |
Nulla sed pharetra erat | N/A |
id interdum enim | Yes |

[u] [b]Lorem Ipsum[/b] [/u]
[i]dolor sit amet[/i] | 5 |
[i]consectetur[/i] | 72 |
[i]adipiscing elit[/i] | 100 |
[i]Nulla sed pharetra erat[/i] | N/A |
[i]id interdum enim[/i] | Yes |

Basically combine these and your CS should appeal to pretty much anyone. Hope that's what you were after, but the more you experiment, the more you can work out what helps in CS designs and what doesn't work.

Note: PNG images of underline flourishes and dividers help with the overall look as well.

Sorry if It's not the best grammar wise or such. This is how the whole post looks as code.

The lack of size change had to be worked around with, but oh well. It's also good to standardize all fonts anyway, and people will care more for substance than appearance.

Seriously though, her profile. Ugh, so admiring.

Anyway! I'll put my workshop here (don't post in there). Use the themes I have up as inspiration or whatever use you see for it. Share all the love around!

Thanks for sharing yours too, NB. :3
