Story Outline
Through subterfuge, military deterrence and covert operations, the Russian Federation has subverted and reined in almost every former member of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and has expanded the sphere of influence of the Collective Security Treaty Organization beyond that of the former Warsaw Pact. During this growth in influence, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization initially adopts a policy of appeasement, taking great care to avoid World War 3 with the Russians. It's only when evidence of direct links between growing anti-Western movement in Eastern Europe and Russia is leaked by intelligence operatives that NATO's members finally agree (due in part to public uproar) to reactivate a rapid reaction force first established in the early 21st century.

You are a part of this rapid reaction force, and you won't have to wait long to get in the action. It's widely believed that Poland is quickly on it's way to becoming the next international flashpoint. Warnings have been given to both Russia and CSTO however: NATO can no longer remain idle if a crisis does occur in the region and is prepared to intervene using military action. And though many disregard these warnings as just posturing on the behalf of the Western people, and despite the very distinct possibility that the warnings are just posturing on the behalf of the Western people, the newly appointed commanding officer of your unit plans to deploy his troops (and you) at the first sign of trouble. This is with or without the approval of his superiors.

Character Sheet
Name: (First, Middle, Last Name)

Age: (Given the level of experience the Task Force is looking for, everyone should be at or above twenty, at the very least)

Gender: (Male/Female)

Appearance: (Picture, description or both)

Background: (Civilian history and military service record before joining up with the Task Force)
Rank: (Up to Captain)

Unit: (There's three types of platoons I'll be primarily deploying: Drop Infantry, Drop Mechanized, Drop Armored. Infantry will consist of two eight-man infantry squads divided up into two fireteams with up to four additional weapon specialists attached to the unit. Mechanized units will have one twelve-man infantry squad divided up into two fireteams that will each have one weapon specialist and one mech in support. Armored platoons will be made up of four mechs alone.

This isn't to say you're limited to one of these three. You can either form your own (unique or otherwise) unit in the Task Force and provide specifics about the unit or you can just join one made by someone else. I would recommend that if you don't feel like leading/making a unit putting "Unassigned" on your character sheet until you either find one or I put you somewhere.)

Role: (Your respective role in whatever unit you're in.)

Gear: (Weapons, armor and other notable equipment beyond the standard issue stuff you'll be deploying with.)

Mech: (Details about your mech, if you're even using one. Refer to the post below, feel free to message me about any custom systems and weapons you'd like to add to your mech.)

Joint Task Force - Aegis
First, Joint Task Force Aegis only considers volunteers from NATO's respective member states, most of whom they prefer to have some sort of military experience. To qualify as an actual member of Task Force Aegis, each volunteer must first be vetted and cleared by Aegis' headquarters section. Following this initial background check, each volunteer may then be put through a physically and mentally daunting assessment and selection program that trains potential candidates up to Aegis standards and brings those unfamiliar with certain aspects of Aegis up to speed. Only after going through this program will each recruit be trained for their respective role in the Task Force.

The Task Force itself is divided into four main elements: Headquarters, Infantry, Mech, and Support. Headquarter elements fall under the Headquarters Company, which will be issuing orders and relaying intelligence from Aegis' battle station in geosynchronous orbit above Earth. Infantry elements make up the bulk of the Task Force and consist of versatile drop combat teams issued everything from advanced armored exoskeletons capable of cloaking technology to a vast number of remote controlled drones. Mech elements, as the only armored units in the Task Force, are the muscle behind Aegis and range from light bipedal reconnaissance platforms to four-legged heavy walkers armed to the teeth. Finally, the support elements of the Task Force are the few spaceborne aerial assets under Aegis' command providing logistical and close air support in addition to the various combat engineers, medics and staff personnel that make up the rest of the Headquarters Company.

Available Mech Choices
(Light Bipedal Mech Platform)-2 Alder
A 4.5 meter tall German mech geared towards speed and flexibility. Typically found operating as light armored reconnaissance. The Alder, as a mech designed to both gather intelligence and infiltrate enemy lines, is equipped with a system rendering it invisible to radar. In addition, the Alder is outfitted with the necessary comms equipment to transmit secure messages through either bad weather or radio interference, as well as an updated version of the LAV-25's Improved Thermal Sight System. To defend itself, the Alder is limited to two wrist-mounted 5.56mm machine guns and an up to scale, short range 20mm caliber assault rifle. However, if the Alder pilot is willing to reduce the ammunition for his wrist machine guns, the mech may be equipped with wire guided projectiles built into it's shoulder joints that may assist it in traverse rough terrain.

(Medium Bipedal Mech Platform)-7 Ranger
A very well rounded and versatile American mech standing at 5 meters tall. Though the Ranger is deployed in a wide variety of roles in the Task Force, it specializes in nothing. But what it lacks in a distinct advantage in it's base model it makes up for with it's wide array of weapons. It's primary weapon choices are either an automatic 40mm grenade launcher or a 25mm caliber mid range assault rifle, but the Ranger may also be equipped with a rocket launcher firing guided anti-tank (or anti-air) missiles, a 81mm mortar launcher or a .50 caliber heavy machine gun on it's shoulder. As a secondary weapon, the Ranger may either be equipped with two wrist-mounted 5.56mm machine guns, a chest-mounted 7.62mm machine gun or an automatic 12 gauge shotgun. In addition to it's armament, the Ranger may be equipped with a large jump pack that would enable it to achieve temporary flight in exchange for forgoing shoulder mounted weapons or like the Alder, wire guided projectiles at the cost of some ammunition.

(Heavy Bipedal Mech Platform)-9 Mattis
A heavily armored bipedal mech standing at 5.45 meters tall, the Mattis is another American made mech that may be equipped with any weapons available to the Ranger. However, the Mattis may be armed with two shoulder mounted weapons instead of just one, as opposed to the Ranger. The Mattis may also arm itself with a more heavier shoulder mounted weapon (though it will not be able to arm itself with two shoulder mounted weapons if it does so) that include a 105mm tank cannon, 120mm mortar launcher or four .50 caliber heavy machine guns mounted in pairs on each shoulder. All of these weapons, plus it's thicker armor, will means that the Mattis will move far slower than the Ranger and is unable to effectively use a jump pack or wire guided projectiles though.

(Light Quadrupedal Mech Platform)-3 Spider
A highly mobile, four-legged British mech standing at just over 3.5 meters tall, the Spider has been made to operate in hostile terrain and environments. The Spider's legs are specifically designed to allow it to walk on walls and other hard surfaces, allowing it to quickly bypass enemy forces and to move with ease. And, like the Alder, the Spider is outfitted with electronic hardware that assists the mech in it's role as light reconnaissance. However, unlike the Alder, the Spider is armed with a single 7.62 mm chain gun and just two short range 84-mm unguided missiles. And while the Alder can hold it's own in a direct fight, the Spider's armor renders it very fragile in a fight, allowing it only to withstand limited small arms fire.

(Quadrupedal Weapon and Support Platform)-4 Tortue
A large mech standing at 7 meters tall designed by a joint team of NATO engineers, the Tortue's armor can withstand several direct hits from a tank and can be equipped with a vast array of weapons or advanced systems. Given how few Tortues have been created, most of these platform's features are customized to fit it's role in the Task Force and as a result, two Tortues seen together with the same loadout is a rare sight on the battlefield.

Name: Dylan Bede Nicholson

Age: 22

Gender: male

Appearance:
He stands at 6'2 and has a brown faux hawk. He has a beard that is cut short and lines his chin. He has piercing green eyes and a muscular physique. He weighs 190 pounds and is extremely well built.

Background: He is of native American and Spanish descent, but has startling green eyes. He grew up in a military family in Mississippi. He is extremely intelligent and graduated high school five years early. He then enrolled in college and earned a mechanical engineering degree. During his years in college he met and fell in love with a girl name Rosalie. She was a missionary and traveled the world to help spread the word of god. Dylan is an atheist, but quickly fell in love with her, however She rejected him for an infantry man. He has never really moved on and enlisted in the military as a way to cope with his heartache. He was 18 when enlisted in the military and achieved the rank of 1st lieutenant. He was immediately found for his intelligence and put into the mechanized infantry program where he showed enormous potential. He ended up graduating top of his class and specializes in medium class bipedal mechs. Soon after he was given his own mech and put into the rapid reaction force. For the last year he has been working with them and due to his actions and how new he is he has earned the nickname "Hero". This was given to him in a joking manner due to his actions saving his teammates in a simulated battle. He showed disregard for the well being of himself and his mech in order to save the rest of the squadron and their heavy mech patton in the simulation. This has led many to call him "Hero", and the nickname stuck with him due to his lack of experience and being so new to the unit. However do not be fooled, he may be inexperienced, but what he lacks in combat time he makes up for with intelligence, bravery, and natural talent.

Rank: 1st lieutenant

Unit: 1st breach company A.K.A "Hard Knocks"

Role: medium mech pilot (specialist in HK and defensive tactics. He takes out everything equally well.)

Gear:
-ballistic vest: basic body armor to survive some low caliber rounds.
-sidearm: a basic forty caliber semi automatic sidearm made by smith and Weston
-CX8 combat machete: a two foot long machete to cut through jungle and enemies alike.

Mech:
medium mech 7 ranger class
-25 mm assault rifle.
-Fully automatic 12 gauge shotgun system built into left arm. The firing port is located in the center of the hand.
-shoulder joint wire guided projectiles with burrowing spears. These projectiles burrow into concrete, metal, etc to allow the mech to scale things, as an offensive property can be used to grapple enemy mechs and weapons. These have a range of 20 meters.
-propulsion system This jump pack allows the mech momentary flight for maneuvering terrain.

mech aesthetics and background:
Literally his first mech and his all time favorite. She(YES he actually refers to the mech as she)sports a black and red paint job with roses on the shoulders. She has the words ACTA NON VERBA painted along the arms in gold. There is a picture of a red rose on her assault rifle. The mech is piloted using two flightsicks as well as multiple buttons, and on the inside of the cockpit he has a picture of a missionary girl he loves named Rosalie(hence his mech's name)

my mech is bigger and has harder hitting guns. Not to mention my guy is supposedly a genius, and he has military background. I don't think inferior is a good word for my guy.

Developing both a mech and a trooper right now. I'll choose the one we need the most of as other people start posting their characters.

yeah my mech is designed to be a balance assault mech. It is made to be able to kill infantry light and medium mechs and if it has the time to use it that railgun can even deal with heavy mechs as well.

Well I made mine to specify target the back line, any stragglers, and high ranking officers, and to also take out light and medium mechs quickly.

If you can get close like you said those plasma cutter of mine would decimate your Mech. As well as the fact that they have a longer range than any of your weaponry other than the assault rifle that honestly would probably just ping off the armor. What your Mech does have going towards it is mobility. You have whats more of a stealth rig where mine is a combat rig.

Don't forget I have Tonfas;

Which could probably take out a medium meahc, and my mobility may help me in a fight with your plasma rays, remember I also can quickly change in and out of Insect mode.

Im not the GM but just saying if your a CQC specialist being a mech pilot doesn't seem like it would be something youd want to do. Mechs can be used for CQC but if they have a loadout like mine that is ineffective even with the rocket thrusters. Simply because you don't have the range necessary it would make much more sense to make him an ordinary infantryman. Also being 6'8 isn't a normal human quality in fact there is a disease that makes u that tall. Plus a muscle to body weight ratio and 256lbs at that height would make him skinny and frail not well built. Also I don't see it being easy to pilot a mech if your not only 6'8 but also strapped to the teeth with blades and a gun. The stealth thing seems allright until you consider your role as an HK would be utterly fucked if they had any type of electrical scanning cuz then your camo doesn't work for shit and your severly outgunned. Overall like I said im not the GM and I don't want to be a dick but the character seems kinda weird. Also this is for both Loki and you how do you propose to stop something like the plasma cutters? theyd melt right through your melee weapons. All in all even though I like the idea of CQC mechs they seem more like mobile artillery to me.

Tonfa in martial arts are mainly used as a blocking weapon which would be great against another melee weapon, but you cant block super heated plasma. And whether your on two legs or four getting cut in half kills quite effectively.

Edit: let me apologize to both of you if I sound like an asshole ive been doing Arena way to much lately and those guys argue constantly lol my bad.
