Far-fetched or not, I will admit that your mech concept is friggin' cool. Evangelion as a divine manifestation, well done.

Yea, it started off as an ancient construct that would be found after he traveled forwards into the future. The idea to be more personally involved in the combat brought along the Avatar concept.

Going to hopefully go over stuff with GS later today, but at the very least I'll say that a divine mecha isn't really farfetched, since Brave Raideen (for example) was literally a deity, and mystical powersources and backgrounds tend to show up in the super robot genre more often than you'd expect.

That's good to know. I've been invested in Gundam and a bit of Evangelion, so I had no idea that it had been thought of. I'm looking forward to everyones opinion.

I'm sorry to say that the Gunman and Evangelion will have to be vetoed. Much too close to the sources, plus you're out right using the images and they're too powerful for the beginning of the game. Scythe mech and soldier mecha is accepted.

...This is the exact reason I asked about expies. Clearly we have differing opinions on what constitutes an expy. There also didn't seem to be any standard set for mecha power level. And I would let you know that finding an image for a super robot mecha that doesn't belong to some anime or another that still fits one's needs is a herculean task.

Probably just gonna go ahead and withdraw my interest.

I'm having a hard time even attempting to revamp or begin a new CS. I'm not sure what exactly you're expecting. Do you want completely original mechas? are canon mecha pictures off limit?

Right um, explanation time. Expies are basically something that shares a lot of the same characteristics as the source but at the same time different enough to be their own character.

This is an example of expies: Char Aznable who inspired a whole slew of clones after him. Note that while all of them have masks and mystique, they are all uniquely different enough to not be the same person. You can use something close to canon mecha in terms of appearance and function, but outright using the form is kinda bad form for something considered an original mecha game. ^^.

Ahh, I get it now. As long as it isn't out right the same. Its okay. Also, I was under the impression that Super Robots were suppose to be exceptionally strong. If I downgrade the mecha a bit, would it be fine to use that character. Or would you prefer I switch it up (which I might end up doing anyway, not sure yet).

Super robots aren't necessarily about dickwaving powerlevels. Mazinger Z, the original one, is probably the single most iconic super robot, on account of being the first mecha to be operated from a cockpit, and its most powerful attack was a heat beam from the chest while its main feature was being a giant robot made to fight giant monsters. No world ending super power of god and humanity's will to be found, no psychic shenanigans. A super doesn't have to be ridiculously overpowered nor does a real have to be inherently weaker. It's a matter of style and, in Super Robot Wars, a gameplay mechanic.

Generally speaking supers are defined by being colorful, distinctive, based around a rather obvious motif or otherwise taken more as a unique entity itself rather than just a giant stompy weapon that could be mass produced, with their own arsenal generally being more outlandish, toyetic even, and not very grounded on reality, if at all. Why is a super robot's ultimate weapon a sword that can cleanly bisect things several times larger than the sword's blade? Why not just use an extra large gun? Because it's cool. Sure you might get some explanation in some show or another, but it's all meaningless mumbo jumbo. In SRW, a super is a unit that tends to have more health, armor and firepower than reals, but can not dodge an attack to save its life and they tend to be less accurate and more resource-intensive, having limited uses for their most powerful attacks n whatnot.

Real robots, on the other hand, take more towards a sense of realism. A sense of realism, not realism, the genre is inherently unrealistic. Mass produced weapons of war that are treated somewhat less as characters in their own right depending on the show, armed with gear quite grounded on reality beyond having added cool factor like making all weapons beams of energy. Handheld, upscaled versions of real world military arsenals, missile pods, some manner of realistic take on currently conceptual weapons like railguns as time goes by, you get the idea. In SRW a real is a unit that is far more dodgy that supers, meaning they can actually outlive supers as long as they don't get tagged by a big hit, and while their weapons tend to be weaker they're more accurate and/or less resource-intensive.

If you get down to it it's all just a matter of style. Thanks to SRW, there's also a gameplay divide associated with it but even then that isn't always entirely accurate. Dancouga, for instance, tends to be frail as fuck for a super, the tradeoff being that it hits harder than most. This all reminds me, and I'm not criticizing the bio or nothing, but the only thing "super robot" about Apollosarcher's mech is the gameplay thing of "gotta be a super to be tanky". It's a generally featureless grey and brown military machine whose entire motif is "human soldier but bigger", armed with an upscaled real world arsenal of guns. That's a real if I've ever seen one.

And yes, I am making a bio, I've just been slow since I've been enjoying relaxing after a finals rush. I'll get it done today or tomorrow at the latest.

Name: Doctor Ludwig Fiedler

Age: 27

Gender: Male

Personality: Doctor Ludwig Fiedler is a primary example of where brilliance and insanity meets, and as such could be seen as teetering on either side of the playing field. He is an incredibly hyper-active individual who conducts all sorts of experiments, from relatively mundane, to highly advanced, all in the pursuit of even more knowledge. He has no sense regarding the personal space of others, and is almost always cheerful. He is rather theatrical in his nature, rather often performing over the top gestures to illustrate points, especially when he goes into monologues about his relation to the Greatest Swiss Scientist, Victor Frankenstein, and how he continues to follow in his foot-steps, bringing forth the great fires of Prometheus and its knowledge. When he is working, he is completely devoted to his task, and will not eat, sleep, or take any break until he finishes it. Ludwig also has very deep relationships, not with people (as most are put off by his insanity, even though he really tries to make friends.), but with his tools. In particular he has a deep kinship, boarding on love with his blow-torch he affectionately calls Rebecca.

Brief Back-story: Ludwig Fiedler was born to a small family in Switzerland to Goat Herders. At an early age he created his very own android, beyond what many individuals who practiced could do. This, is what inspired a mysterious and shady group, to take the boy within their ranks. And by take, it was quite literally, they kidnapped him in the dead of night, but they did leave a note for Ludwig’s Parents to inform them of this. And the group, which was a branch of the Custodians, did promise that Ludwig could see his family again. So Ludwig was raised in a sterile environment, which had no peers of his own age, where he would learn the disciplines of the many sciences, especially Robotics, which the boy was quite gifted at. The boy was happy, though he’d would have liked to have some aspects of a normal childhood, like dealing with peers, but he very much enjoyed the education and praises he received from the scientists who raised him. And, the Scientists loved raising the boy, and were quite kind to him, all agreeing that they shouldn't do anything morally wrong to the child. Well besides the initial kidnapping in the dead-of-night, but that had to be done, and it was apologized for many times.
And so, Ludwig, grown up, works for the Custodians to Defend the Earth, and to progress the human race further, as the HEIR OF FRANKENSTEIN SHOULD!

Skills: Doctor Ludwig Fiedler is a Doctor of Robotics, and as such has an incredible mastery upon the subject, knowing precisely how they work, and easily able to craft so many strange wonders with even the most basic of tools. Which, as to be expected, really translates well into piloting the crafts of giant robots.

Besides his mastery of Robotics, he is rather skilled in Chemistry and Biology, as is to be expected of an Heir of the Frankenstein Lineage. Usually he uses his knowledge of it to make several neurological agents, and other biological agents.

And, in a pinch, he could help address many medical emergencies, but the fact that he likes to be ‘creative’ in his approaches to it, tends to make people want another doctor. (Even though Ludwig promised that they would only be partially cyborg-ized, and that they’d have total control over their functions…other than the releasing of a biological agent which would cause blisters in the eyesockets of only certain members of the mamilia kingdom. For some reason they’d rather just a ‘normal individual’.)

He can also decently play the pipe organ.

Abilities: N/a, he’s just a normal human. Well pseudo-normal, he’s normal when it comes to human abilities, but personality wise, he’s definitely not normal.

Mecha

Name: Modern-day Prometheus

Type: Super

Appearance:"I succeeded in discovering the cause of generation and life; nay, more, I became myself capable of bestowing animation upon lifeless matter."

Specifications: This 45 meter tall, Mecha was made by Doctor Fiedler himself to defend the universe! Primarily it is used in the fight against other giant mecha robots used for evil, and the horrible aliens of space. It does this by implementing mass stuns, to the respective neurological systems, actuators, etc. of the target in question, which makes it easier to kill them off.

Equipment System: This baby is powered by a damn nuclear fusion core. It has incredibly tough shielding, (as to be expected of a super) both physically and shield generators (which do shield off EMP blasts, usually its own.) located in the upper echelons of the shoulders. Speaking of the shoulders, they can open up like deranged little maws, that shoot out heavy concentrations of neurological agents, that works on alien XNA, which hinders the neurological pathways from operating. Of course the douse delivered is the most important thing, regarding how long the alien would stay up for. Its gun arm is the source of much of the EMP blasting the robot can do, which if it is in range of any mecha, is going to shut down the systems. As such, it is really, really good at doing accidental friendly fire, to allied mechas, and even itself if Ludwig forgot to activate the shielding. The gun arm also can shoot sound-waves as a destructive force. The Claw Arm, is a devastating melee weapon, able to scavenge apart mecha armor that are within range of it. Speed, is not at all this mecha’s strong suit, even with its jet-boosted feet, which is primarily used for taking off into space to fight off the aliens.

Pilot

Name: Princess Amelia Winterbloom Vaspria the Third

Age: 14

Gender: Female

Appearance: "Ah, welcome to the castle... I did not know my parents had a guest." She also has a pilot suit.

Personality: Amelia is a polite girl with a rather gentle disposition. Brought up as the sole heir to the throne of Vaspria, Amelia was taught from a young age to conduct herself calmly and gracefully, and to that end she has done quite well. Amelia is, however, quite naive and not particularly equipped to deal with the outside world beyond Vaspria's gardens, which is why her new situation is such a jarring struggle for her. Even under duress, Amelia attempts to be a patient and calm girl, but it becomes very difficult to do so the worse a situation becomes. As Amelia was brought up, she was instilled with a strong sense of justice, something that she will not abandon. If she sees people being attacked or threatened, she is liable to become angry and try to defend them. In spite of her many good intentions, Amelia's upbringing was somewhat spoiled and it shows, as she will often not understand why people are not always willing to bring her food or help her dress.

Brief Backstory: The country of Vaspria was a small European nation. It possessed a high level of technological prowess, but in spite of this it was often compared by visitors to some kind of fantasy world. For the common fashion of Vaspria, the architecture, resembles most closely the middle ages, in spite of enjoying a much higher standard of living then that period. Vaspria is ruled by a King and Queen, and they had a daughter, Amelia. Amelia was raised to be the successor to the throne, the Queen of Vaspria. Her life was rather idyllic, but it was not to last. There were dissenters in Vaspria, and they betrayed the country to terrorists, and the royal palace was attacked, the King and Queen taken prisoner. They were not able to capture the Princess, however. The royal guards, and the maids, showed her to one of Vaspria's defensive machines(a royal model), as all the royal family had been trained in piloting and controlling such machines, and she was able to escape. The plan was that she would be able to inform others of what had happened, so that they could come to Vaspria's aid. However, there are so many dangers to the world, it can only be hoped that she is able to return quickly.

Skills: Amelia has been trained in horseback riding, art, some sciences, and in the piloting of Vaspria's mecha.

Abilities: N/A

Mecha

Name: ARM-1 Spark Knight

Type: Real Robot

Appearance: Juuust ignore the serial number and stuff

Specifications: A relatively small mecha, Spark Knight is designed to be a rapidly-moving and highly mobile fighter capable of taking on much larger targets.

Equipment System: Spark Knight is unshielded and has light armor. It makes up for this by being equipped a propulsion system allowing it to freely fly and rapidly maneuver around its enemies. In addition, it is equipped with a myriad of laser systems built into the armor of the mecha, firing from its palms and shoulders primarily in a lightshow od destruction. Finally, Spark Knight is equipped with a module allowing for an offensive barrier, but this module is very difficult to utilize properly.

Name: Johnny Tsunami

Age: 23

Gender: Male

Appearance: Johnny rocks a sick pompadour and radical sideburns. His eyes are eternally covered by a pair of opaque sunglasses, and he sports a sweet red jacket with a winged sword on the back. Under this, he wears a black tee shirt and blue jeans, and his feet are covered by sneakers. He wears a lucky charm on his neck: a jade coin with Chinese writing on it.

Personality: A brash, irrational man, Johnny Tsunami rockets towards his goal, fist in hand. He cares little for odds, statistics, or consequences for that matter. His blood is too hot, his fist too clenched, his pomp too styling to care. His greatest joy in life is piloting giant robots for the sheer joy of piloting giant robots. He fails to understand why anyone wouldn't have this as their dream job.
His hobbies are dancing, board games, and eating out.

Brief Backstory: Johnny was born into the mean streets of Neo-Tokyo, running wild with a gang of equally stylish delinquents. Those were his early days, riding through the streets and fighting rival themed gangs of delinquents from other schools. Through it all, though, Johnny wanted more, in his search for something cooler than what he already had. After graduating high school, he enlisted into Japan's armed mecha division, and was almost immediately discharged for disorderly conduct. After this, he fell in with a group of mech mercenaries, traveling the world and building up his own custom piece of machinery. Five years later he was a freelancer, combing the land like his hair in search of adventure when he was contacted by the Custodians, and brought in as a professional pilot.

Skills: Johnny's an ace pilot with the perfect feel for his machine. On top of this, he's a decent street brawler and a second to none dancer. He's terrible at board games, though. Just, awful at them.

Abilities: None. He's just a good pilot.

Mecha
Name: Burst Noble

Type: Super Robot

Appearance: The mech appears as a slick, humanoid robot, colored bright red. The limbs and body look sleek, like a martial artist, if martial artists were gigantic robots. The head has a golden, circular crest of gold, and is designed to look as if it's wearing a face plate.

Specifications: Burst Noble was designed as a melee specialized unit, boasting an array of edged weapons, dexterity, and high ground mobility.

Equipment System: Burst Noble's primary armament at first appears to be a set of bladed wings. The "feathers" actually comprise an armory consisting of over a dozen swords of varying sizes, from relatively gladius length to almost as long as the mech itself. The longest feathers, located on the end, are a pair of long blaster rifles, so as not to sacrifice long range battle completely. The weapons are assisted into Burst Noble's hands by a set of small dendrites, and the wings themselves are articulated, and can be used in a slashing motion. The swords can also be launched out at high speeds in an emergency attack.
For flight assistance, Burst Noble has a pair of thrusters located on the back, just under where the wings attach to the body, though it lacks fine mobility in air, so much as it just rockets forward as fast as it can go. On the ground, Burst Noble is much more mobile, using surprising agility, assisted by bursts from the rockets to weave around quickly.

Name: Saarang ag Agrips

Age: 75 of your human years.

Gender: Male

Appearance: Saarang is a 7ft tall green lizard man who is heavy with muscle. He has claws on his hands and feet, a long tail, mouth full of sharp sharp teeth, and a colorful frill around his neck that he keeps flat most of the time. Black spikes run down his back and the length of his tail. He has three deeps scars across one eye that extend down his neck and halfway down his chest. Wears the ceremonial bronze chest plate of his people, a loincloth, a flowing red cape, and a belt of which to carry his huge black iron mace.

Personality: A steadfast and honorable warrior, Saarang never turns down an opportunity to test himself against a true foe. As an extension of this, he does not like fighting people who are weak or unable to defend themselves. Is always serious, at all times, and values discipline. Does not understand the concepts of metaphor or humor, but is desperate to learn. Loves music and song, and often spends his off hours listening to something or other while training or working. Is conflicted about his place in the world, but determined to follow the path he has chosen to the end.

Brief Backstory: Saarang is a Jovian Lizard from the moons of Jupiter, winning fame and glory as a warrior of the great Red Frilled King. Eventually being promoted to general of the Imperial Army, he led the great Mechasaurus armada that subdued the rest of the moons and formed the great Jovian Empire. When the Red King eventually cast his eyes on Earth Saarang was among the first to descend from the enormous Stellerdactyles to meet the defenders of the blue planet. But as the battle continued Saarang found himself both enamored with things he had never experienced back on Jupiter, such as "music" and "entertainment", and dissatisfied with the underhanded tactics employed by the Red Frilled King and his fellow generals. The final straw was when three other generals ambushed Gogekkor V, a warrior of Earth that Saarang had come to respect very much, during an honorable duel between the two. He turned on them, killing one general and savagely wounding another, but not in time to save Gogekkor. His quick intervention had, however, been enough to save its young pilots. Disavowed and stranded on Earth, Saarang resolved to put his considerable might to use protecting the planet that had won his respect.

Skills: Amazing fighter, not much else. Understands English, but does not like speaking it because it hurts his throat to do so.

Abilities: Saarang is stronger than any normal human, easily capable bench pressing tanks and punching holes in solid stone. Saarang shares a psychic connection with his Mechasaurus Red Horn, able to feel its emotions and sense with its senses if they are fully connected.

Mecha

Name: Red Horn

Type: Super

Appearance: Red Horn is actually a cyborg in the style of this image, except covered in much more armor that only revels a barest amount of flesh. Likes its name says, it has two horns on the head in addition to big blades sticking out of the sides of its arms.

Specifications: Mechasaurs are genetically grown in a lab and then thoroughly augmented with cybernetics. While most are designed as weapons to be dropped onto the enemy so they can rampage about and do damage, Red Horn is the personal steed of a Jovian General and is thus bonded to him psychically. Befitting Saarang, it is specializing in getting up in the enemy face and tearing it off while relying on its armor to tank most of the damage it takes getting to them. It is a large, fast, heavy melee attacker.

Equipment System: Red Horn's cockpit is nothing more than a room in the creatures head where Saarang stands and connects to the beasts mind. While fully connected Saarang experiences everything that Red Horn does, essentially becoming one with it. Red Horn can either walk on two legs, hunched over like a Allosaurus, or on four for additional speed. It's bite and claws each put down enough pressure to crunch up mech armor, and the blades on it's arms can be extended forward to act as swords. These swords can be superheated for additional effectiveness. Red Horns most deadly attack is its titular Red Horn, where it stores energy in its horns, impales the enemy on them, then releases the stored energy directly into them. It's only ranged ability is that it can breath fire.

While it may look robotic, Red Horn is still a living creature that must eat, drink, and breath. However, thanks to its body's extensive genetic engineering it does each of these things efficiently. It can survive on just one ton of meat a week, mostly fish, and similar amount of water. In addition, it can last without oxygen for up to a week after a deep breath. It can be injured, but has an incredibly effective healing factor and can come back from even the most grievous of injuries if given appropriate time to recuperate.

Red Horn has a personalty, though a very subdued one. It can act without orders from Saarang, though will only do so when it is in danger. Anyone approved by Saarang can give it reasonable orders, such as "move out of the way" or "lift your foot so I can do maintenance," and it even has preferences with regards to mechanics and food.

I see what looks like shoutouts to Nadesico and Macross, and this pleases me. Also cyborg dinosaurs make me think of Getter Robo, which is always good.

Will need to discuss the new characters with GS, buuut I like the look of them myself so yeah. ...Also it's a good thing I'm planning on making both a super and a real, since we're starting to skew heavily towards supers. XD Although seeing how almost every other mecha RP I see here seems to focus solely on reals, that's not too bad really.

I was actually considering both a Super and a Real too. The real was from Venus instead of Jupiter, and came from an all female psychic race that was conquered by the Martians after The War of the Worlds and turned into a slave race of soldiers for their next attempt on Earth. Basically a newtype with an angelic mech that attacked with flying swords, looking to free her homeworld from Martian tyranny.

But in the end Dinosaurs won out.
