Also I have two questions regarding the contest, what is meant by Motif: Paper and when you say the character is the lancer of the team what does that mean in terms of combat?

If I told you what it meant, it wouldn't be much fun, so I'll tell you what it might mean: the character wears literal paper armor, the character has a semblance that manipulates confetti, the character really likes making lists, the character's skin is 'paper-thin' physically, leaving him/her with a crushing weakness, the character's skin is 'paper-thin' metaphorically and he/she flies off the handle at the slightest provocation, the character is totally enamored by origami, the character's semblance can bring origami to life, the character's name is 'paper' in another language...I could go on. In terms of combat? Nothing at all. Check this out.

I'm not familiar with Adventure Time, but I expect that is the the case. Pretty much. Just as with 'Crippled' it is very much open to interpretation.

In regards to paper, has anyone here read the webcomic Paranatural? Isabel's abilities would be great for use as a character. She controls paper and shit with her book. Personally, I think it'd be great as a weapon and a Semblance. By the way its a great webcomic and you should READ IT NOW.

@Kaithas Embolden the section categories and add a space between categories for readability's sake, please. You might want to see if you can develop the personality section any more. When looking at your semblance, I'm seeing a pretty thorough similarity to Yang's semblance, which increases her physical power and abilities (including strength and speed) as she fights and gets angrier, though in Yang's case it allows her to produce fire at high rage levels as well.

I invented the semblance post personality, I'll flesh the personality out more as I get a feel for the character. I've read Yang's semblance, and to be honest, Rowan's isn't that similar.

Yang's Semblance manifests itself in the form of fire, which emanates from her hair. With it she has the ability to absorb energy from the damage she's taken, and redirect it at her opponent, effectively making her stronger with each hit. Her ability also causes her eyes to change color from violet to red, which is a "side-effect" of her Semblance.[3] When using her Semblance, she draws power from her hair.[4] Monty Oum has compared Yang's semblace to a "Power Meter" from fighting games.[5]

-RWBY Wiki Rowan gathers power from her own emotional state, not the attacks of enemies, and she has natural armor instead of just nullifying their attacks. It's not as powerful, but Rowan doesn't require actual physical trauma to use it.

I'd like to make a comparison between Natsu Dragneel of Fairy Tail and Pyro of X-Men. Natsu has an innate magical power, allowing him to create fire. Pyro must rely on preexisting sources for fire, like a lighter, but he can manipulate those flames. At the end of the day, both are shooting fire. If you judge that a different fuel source makes it sufficiently different (and interesting), you're free to go ahead with it. I expect that her physical 'transformation' helps makes this difference; perhaps you could outline for us what she looks like with her semblance fully engaged.

The ironic thing is that all the songs Sapphire loves on the violin are in complete opposition to her personality. A good portion of them are light, funny stories about true love and happily ever afters and sweet sounding Gaelic songs. Most people looking at her would expect punk rock.

I plan on it. The fundamental, crucial difference is that Rowan's is transformative and Yang's is just a special aura.

I have come to the conclusion I took the Unsubtle's personality too far. This is not what a marine sounds like, not in such a calm environment as a classroom. What I wrote IC sounds like a 12 to 14 year old gamer trying to sound hardcore. I did think about changing what I wrote but then I got a far better idea. She is currently only a year old or so at best. Because it is a machine we are talking about years do not translate 1:1 but still, she's young. Now building a tank is neither simple nor cheap. Marcus had to cut corners somewhere so he built the Unsubtle in a chopshop in a run down corner of the kingdom. Remember that his 'family' did not really condone his activities and gave him marginal support at best. That is basically where she 'grew up' if you will. Next door to the shop there were a couple of bored pre teens playing the Remnant version of CoD, and that is really where she learned most of her languages from. Marcus is not exactly stellar at conversations even at things that don't usually talk back. Ergo all of these curses are just Unsubtle repeating stuff she heard with little to no regard for context or meaning. All she knows is that they're thing to say when you're angry... or scared. As a tank, she is pretty much okay with killing and violence, that is her purpose after all. However this ties back to the subplot I had about Marcus' family. Marcus got some praise in his early years before it was expected to kill at least one reisen before breakfast etcetera. Unsubtle does not have that positive base to work from. All she has ever known is people looking down on her or indifference. All this positive attention is completely new and smells like a ruse. Beacon is some strange new place full of bright lights and people getting close and complimenting her and poking around underneath the engine cover and whatnot. The whole experience is utterly terrifying to the poor thing. This fear plus the apex predator instincts result in her attacking in the only way she can at the moment, namely violent swearing. It is like a dog baring it's teeth and growling, or a cat raising it's hackles.
