>Inquisition Mission log #11980; Relay Imminent:

Striking down onto the surface of the desolate space hulk, 'Fallen Icarus', The terminators of terminator squad B1067 descended by drop pod onto their target. The majority of the squad was successfully transported to the material mass via pods, but a select few were kept for further psychological and physical inspection.

Pods pierced the main abdomen of the space hulk, allowing terminator squad B1067 full access to the core of the hulk. Future transmissions expected within 0.5 day(s)...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rattle of the Drop pod jumbles your senses as you descended towards your target, The expressions of your comrades covered by their emotionless terminator masks allowing you no comfort of your humanly surroundings. Preparing your equipment and yourself for impact, a soft hum starts to resonate from around the Drop pod as it pierces the Space hulk's thin atmosphere. The hum is soon followed by the harsh reality of contact, breaking through the first layer of imperial ships that served as the space hulk's protective coating.
Slowing down, the inertia of the fall curdling your insides, you arrive at your final destination within the space hulk.

The doors of the drop pod creep open, revealing a landing place within a maze of corridors, distorted and bonded together by years in the warp.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are three corridors, 2 on the left of the inserted drop pod and 1 on the right, all of which are poorly lite.
  • The first on the left shows signs of Pyschic energy, the walls seemingly morphing and turning within the corner of your spectrum, creating an ominous feel.
  • The second teems with the same Pyschic energy, but instead produces a supernatural growl that carries over to the first hall.
  • The last, located on the right, travels steeply upwards and sustains pools of liquid. The watery substances are reflective, but smell of brimstone.

Standing and stepping out of the drop pod, Zethidis reaches back and takes his Recon Skull from its holder. Throwing up into the air it hovers there and he enters a prompt command into his console and it begins to scan all three corridors for thermal energy and register noise refraction for objects.

Taking his Rifle from his shoulder he puts his back to the drop pod and faces the two corridors to its left. His chain stays retracted on his left arm.

Deimos stepped off the drop pod, never really getting used to them no matter how many times they where used. She looked on, seeing three ways to go, and not really sure which one was the best. Or the safest. But, one of her team mates had already sent out a recon skull to scan for possible hits. With that up in the air, Deimos was content to wait, keeping her Assault Cannon ready, and looking from one entrance to the next. Anything could happen, at any time, but The Emperor would protect....possibly.

'I offer my life to the Emperor, I pray that He accepts it.
I offer my strength to the Emperor, I pray that he redresses it.
I offer my blood to the Emperor, I pray that it quenches His thirst.
I offer my body on the altar of the battlefield, I pray He grants me a noble death.
I pray for His protection, as I offer all that I am.'

As the drop pod shook and swayed upon it's descent, any who looked upon Brother Rand could see his eyes closed with his helmet set off to one side. Though speaking no words, his mere presence seemed reverent, steady, and unaffected by the ever moving vessel. It was only with the heavy sounds of the pod landing that would spark any sort of reaction from the red armored Terminator. Quickly he'd grab his helmet and fasten it to his armor, the hissing of seals and clattering of latches echoing softly within the enclosed space as the electronics inside seemed to flicker to life. Enviromental seals, check. Vital signs for his battle brothers and himself, check.

"Testing vox communications," His gruff and commanding voice spoke out, resounding on any speakers or open channels connected to his own. Once convinced that everything checked out, he could be seen retrieving his weapons- the familiar hum and droning of a powersword resounding as the blade sprung to life in his grasp. "It's about damned time! Not even the Emperor could've steeled my nerves any longer!" This was the first sign of any sort of emotion from the warrior as he rounded to face his battle brothers. It was then he noticed the servo skull drifting off into the distance, causing the warrior to chuckle audibly as he switched on the pict feed, "Already on the alert! Happy to see you're not all milk-sops fresh from initiation."

Chaplain Aleros stood, metal servo-arms clamped around his shoulders firmly strapping him into place as the Drop pod shuddered during flight. He found himself silently reflecting the mission behind the skull helm, neither showing nor offering emotion, one hand clasped his Rosarius as they descended upon the space hulk. He was no stranger to drop pod landings, the Black Templars Combat Doctrine involved the heavy use of drop pod assaults and this was no different. He gazed around at the team he was assigned to. The Red Wolf, donning the pelt of a Fenrisian Wolf of his founding chapters home-world across his armour, Aleros noticed the Power Sword at his side and his chanting in the Emperors name as they descended, Aleros' own voice joined the chanting. Then there was the Imperial Fist, apart of his own founding chapter and the teams heavy weapons expert. And last of all, and most troubling was the Legion of the Damned. The chapter was renowned for appearing amidst combat in the most dire of situations for the Imperium. Why one was with them now was surely a bad omen. Aleros gaze, lingered on the Legionnaire, the Legion of the Damned was renowned across the galaxy for their abilities but also for their origin. The Warp had claimed them and changed them. The warp bore only heretics and witches, he would watch the Legionnaire closely.

Aleros, methodically and calmly, checked and looked over his armour, weapons and equipment, these gifts of the Emperor that would protect him and his brothers during their trial. The pod shuddered with impact, the doors parted. The servo arms came free. As his brothers all left the pod, Aleros took his Crozius Arcanum in his right hand, crackling with energy at his touch much like the Red Wolf's power sword, his other released the Rosarius around his neck and took the Storm Bolter attached to his hip. He emerged from the pod, looking over his brothers who where already in motion, a servo skull was moving from hall to hall.
"Aleros, here" He spoke plainly as the Red Wolfs voice crackled over his comm for a vox check.
"The Emperor watches over us, know that we proceed under his protection and will." He spoke over the vox caster integrated into his helm, the vox twisting his voice to robotic as he gazed around the metal sarcophagus that was the space hulk.

A crackling came over the coms, the muffled sound of someone choking on their own clotting blood, then Zethidis spoke slowly with a deep and scraping voice - like a freshly bloodied skull being dragged slowly along the floor. Skullcavus' words were always slow and planned, like many, they remained emotionless and the only change in pitch and tone came from his own boredom at the effort of speech.

When he spoke, it was as if he was your end, his words the last you would ever hear.

"My Brothers. The skulls scanning will complete imminently, the collected data will prove useful. Take this time to adjust to the darkness, it will prove to be your closest ally." As he spoke, a black smoke rose from Zethidis' helm and mixed with the shadows of the hulks interior.

Taking a knee, supported by his bulking rifle, Zethidis began to mutter hushed words in his ghostly voice - a faint black aura growing from his chest.

The skull beeped momentarily and returned to him, uploading data to his drive.

Deimos smiled softly behind her helmet as one of her brothers seemed aggitated by the drop pod.
"Ohh, someone might think a little drop-pod scared you. What are you going to do if we find something nasty in here? Like, a horde of Nobs, or even, Emperor Forbid, some some Traitor Marines" She teased, still watching for any movement, but ribbing her Brother all the same. "And, really, I doubt they would send milk-sops fresh from initiation onto a Space Hulk in Terminator armour unless they had taken leave of their senses so much that the Lord of Change couldn't predict their next move". Her smile was erased when the Legionare spoke, in a rather jarring and unnerving voice. He warranted no reply, but Deimos' gaze stayed on him. He could snap at any moment, and become a threat to everyone, even more so in that armour, even she would take a while to get through it.

With the terminators departing from their Drop pod transport into the foreign environment of the space hulk, skepticism rose among the diverse terminators as they drew lines between their chapters.

With the return of Zethidis's servitor, came a more indepth data of the dangers awaiting the terminators within the SpaceHulk.
  • The first corridor showed definite signs of physic energy, mostly chaotic, that reached almost entirely to the back of the dim corridor. Few thermal readings were found, except for a few resembling furnaces.
  • The second corridor emitted an equal magnitude of Pyschic powers, but instead resonated a more savage, omnipotent will. Blotches of thermal signs lined the walls of the 2nd hall.
  • The last hall, yet containing no Pyschic signs, possessed a low sound origin undiscernable to the un-trained ear. Thermal signatures were found among the puddles lining the absolute darkness, more puddles being found near the end of the corridor more so then the entrance.

In addition, scratching sounds and movements could be heard above the terminators, the ceiling coming alive with these hostile sounds.

Thumbing the comforting button beside his index finger inside his suit, Zethidis' Chainblade slithered from its hidden home and out into the open with a loud humming that equalled the volume of the scratching above. Holding his stormbolter up to the ceiling he tore into it with the several rotating blades, firing steadily into the hole he created.

Over the tremendous thunder of his gun and the endless groaning for his chain fist, his chilling voice could be heard over the comms - his helm stayed fixed on the two corridors to the left, he wasn't evening looking at what he was doing, but strangely he was unwavering accurate in not shooting himself.

"Am I the only one with bullets Brothers? Come, shed some blood for yourselves." Zethidis' haunting laugh scratched across the comms like a rolling thunder, a volcanic eruption of hideous thrill.

Mulling over the information provided by the servo skull, Rand gave pause. Seems all available routes were showing signs of some activity or another, "At least this won't be boring." Rand remarked, rolling his shoulder as the Fenrisian pelt on his mantle shifted along with the massive plating. Stepping before the other battle brothers, the Red Wolf placed himself at the left most corridor (the one containing the chaotic presence) as his head turned towards the Imperial Fist.

"We'll find out soon, won't we 'brother'," The wolf could not help but smirk beneath his helm as he drew up his combi-flamer and sword. It was then that he noticed the display of the Legionaire, bellowing out with laughter as he began his trek down the left most corridor, "Ha! There's a kindred soul! Let us go, my blade hungers!"

Chaplain Aleros watched, remaining in his position by the drop pod door as he watched the small pict screen appearing before the servo skull with information on each hallway, as he did so he took note of his combat brothers, turning to petty insults of one another. These would be those that he would have to trust to protect him and in turn him to protect them. May the Emperor have mercy.
"Chaos... Brothers us let us cleanse this taint." He spoke through his vox caster, as he looked at the left most corridor. It seemed the Red Wolf was already heading in that direction, he began making his own way there, the servos in his armour creating the low noise only the servos of power armour could make as he made each step. He stopped mid-stride when he heard the scratching and movement above. Without warning, bolter fire erupted in the room, the sound of each shot echoing throughout the room and hull.

"Brother, stay your hand! Lest you bring this room crashing upon us... In the Emperors name, calm yourself!" Aleros bellowed as he spun round on the Legionnaire of the Damned, approaching him as he fired into the ceiling, not even looking at where he aimed. Such recklessness.
"Are all of your chapter so reckless. As to fire first without seeing your quarry! Everything in this damned space hulk will know of our presence!" He shouted more as he closed in on the Legionnaire, reaching out, Aleros grabbed the marines bolter.
"Cease your fire" He spoke plainly now, anger still present in his voice at such a display but more controlled, his gaze fell onto the marine. One skull helm looking into another.
"Remain vigilant, wait until we know what is above" He spoke once more as his gaze rose silently to the ceiling. His Storm bolter raised and ready. Overwatch.

Any biting remark Deimos would have made at Rand's pointed comment towards her gender was cut off when bullets suddenly started flying towards some unseen enemy, and Ran ran off with a claim that his blade hungered. It was all very, spontanious and rather reckless.
"Am I the only sane one here?" She asked herself, engaging her suit's Enhnaced Target Finder to try and give her a more accurate picture of what she was meant to be shooting at. The idea of dumping rounds into the darkness was not appealing, considering there wouldn't be much of a chance to resupply the - while large - ammo for her weapons. That said, the trigger of her Autocannon was primed, and the moment she saw something, it would get a very large Lead Sandwich. It also seemed that the Chaplain had some sense, since he berrated the Legionare for his rash attack, which Deimos could really get behind. She liked things to be precise, and planned out, rather than charging in like some Khornette.

With more confusion, and Bolter Fire, growing in their ranks. The terminator's find themselves already engulfed in the illusionary atmosphere of the Space Hulk.

Zethidis, eager to get to the fight, fires up into the ceiling of the corridor chamber in hopes of obliterating whatever's up there.

Zethidis fires Snaps Shots at Unknown
  • Snap Shots; Zethidis is reduced to 1d6 BS
  • Zethidis rolls a 5 for ballistics
  • Unknown rolls a 8 for ballistics
  • Zethidis misses

With his Bolter Fire being interrupted by Chaplain Aleros, Zethidis missed any chance he had at filling the unknown xenos with lead. The remainder of the unknown creatures scurried off in the direction of 2nd hall way, with a few going the way of the right one.

As they fled, Deimos was able to capture shots of the vermin's heat signatures with her target finder. The cretans resembled that of multi-limbed, lizard humanoids, with most of the heat resonating from the slobber that dripped from their oversized mouths.

Rand, standing beside the warping 1st hall, was suddenly affected by the Pyschic energy within the corridor. Visages of demons, heretics, and other unsavory thoughts clouded his vision. Yet, due to his strong will, hardened from the fires of the 'red wolf', Rand soon dispels the temptations swarming him.

Shaking his head in slight disbelief at the vision in his head, Rand grits his teeth in an audible growl over the vox as the vision of the daemons and chaotic sights began to fade. Holding up his powersword he'd motion for the other terminators to follow, "Settle your bickering later! For now, we move." Though he was reluctant to tell his comrades of the visions in his head, he'd merely mutter these words, "Chaos dwells here."

His sword and flamer at the ready, Rand would hold his position at the door. Settling into an overwatch position, aiming to take fire at the first non-friendly to show itself in the hall.

Chaplain Aleros kept his gaze on the metal ceiling above. Awaiting the repercussions of Zethidis' reckless actions in the moments prior. There was to be none, the scratching and scampering above began to recede down the hall behind them and the right most.
"Deimos, did you get a read on them?" The Chaplains voice crackled over the vox. He took a few steps back, regarding the Legionnaire before him. Watching him for a few seconds before turning his back and making his way towards the warped corridor, approaching the Red Wolfs back. A growl echoed across his vox, one that could only be described as that of a wolf.
"Brother Rand, is everything alright?" He spoke as he approached.

Taking up position behind the Red Wolf, the chaplain held his Crozius Arcanum at the ready, crackling with energy as it danced around the mauls head. Should the need arise, he would be able to strike with it. The corridor appeared even more warped from his position, surely this was the doing of the warp, twisting the metal. Where the warp was, heretics and chaos followed. For Alaros this was a chance to prove his worth. To wage his own crusade against the forces of the warp should they reside within the space hulk.
"This trial will test our faith, prove yourself worthy in the glory of the Emperor and we shall succeed. For the Emperor protects." His voice echoed across the vox comms as he followed the Red Wolf into the darkness.

Deimos nodded, but that didn't really do anything because her armour wouldn't move with a nod, it'd be a rather crappy Sealed Atmosphere if it did.
"Yea. I got them, they looked like some sort of man-lizard with several more limbs than usual, and a lot of slobber. I'll admit that I have nevere been the best monster hunter, so I have no idea what they are. Could be Tyranids, in which case there might be some bad juju around here" She then turned and saw them moving down a hall, away from those lizardy bastards. Because 'Chaos dwelled there', like Chaos was any more of a threat to giant biological Eating machines. But, still, she followed as well, scanning the area with her Enhanced Target Finder, just in case something thought it'd be funny to jump out of the shadows.

With the majority of the Terminators entering the most dangerous of the halls, they are soon bombarded with the same visages that Rand had been plaqued with before. Bloody spectrals dance along their vision as they traverse through the corridor.
  • Aleros is Disturbed (-1 WS and -1 BS)
  • Deimos is Disturbed (-1 WS and -1 BS)
  • Zethidis is Disturbed (-1 WS and -1 BS)
  • Rand is immune to Disturbed

Though obscured by these supernatural entities, the actual interior of the metallic alley is still visible to the terminators. The iron walls have been warped into the faces of chaos's victims, the mouths of which produce a red hot fire that licks at any who cross their path.
Farther down the corridor, tunnels have been bored into the sides of the widening hall, tons of which create halls of their own. Soft pattering and growls are heard from these tunnels, many of which seem to follow the heroes as they stride carefully down the Passageway.

Only 1/3 of the way down the hall, the terminators are faced with a most problematic Dilemma. Interlocking tunnels have corroded the core structure of the warped alley, causing a small village to take root in the dank hall, much like a road block. Metal banners and trophies of heresy line this dark camp, with whatever inhabitants it fostered seemingly absent for the time being.

A quick search or two here may recover information valuable to the foreign Terminators. But be wary, the deamonic pattering you had heard before grows subtely within this room.

Deimos was suddenly assailed with visions of death and dismemberment. While the actual visions where nothing to amazing for a woman who had been fighting and killing for hundreds of years, the suddeness of them was the shocker. She watched rather closely in case they where of importance, but a few seconds in showed her that they where just the general Chaos Hallicination.

What did catch her eye, after the shock value of the visions disapated and they melded in with the rest of the hundreds of years, was some interesting trophies, and banners. With slightly to much enthusiasm, Deimos stepped forward and gave her attention to sifting through them, trying to find anything of interest.

Chaplain Aleros, steeled himself against the visions flooding his vision. The true power of Chaos manifesting in his mind, the power which they would soon face. What he bore witness to disturbed him terribly and he would never speak of it again. He knew his battle brothers would be experiencing similar machinations of chaos.
"Kinsmen, we are being tested. We cannot know what madness assails us nor what lies ahead. But what we do know is duty. Our duty to cleanse this space hulk and deny it to the enemy. Remain strong." His voice rang out as they made their way further into the hulk, into chaos.

As the Chaplain looked across the village of twisted metal before them. His courage rose, whatever inhabited this unholy site was of the physical realm. Something that could be slain and therefore eradicated from the hulk. As he watched Deimos looking through the trophies that adorned the camp, Aleros' own gaze was drawn towards the banners. Searching for a symbol of allegiance, whether it be to the chaos gods or a chapter if their steel was to be truly tested this day. He needed to know that which would become his quarry. Meanwhile, his mind worked for a more long term action.
"We now face a choice. Do we continue along this path we have begun, or remain and await whatever abomination inhabits this dark place. And end it." His voice crackled over the vox.

"The Emperor's Wrath does not suffer these blights idly! We will face our foe, and see it judged by the Emperor's fury!" The Wolf bellowed as he drew up his flamer, "Let us see this taint purged!" Giving his brothers a moment to clear from the range of his assault, Rand would begin to loose a font of flame across the scene that would engulf and ignite all flammable substances. As he watched the fires erupt from his actions, he held his combi-weapon aloft, awaiting in overwatch for whatever came in response.
