Entering the oddly placed chaos village, the Terminators began to sift through the many trophies and banners placed around the tunnels composing the chamber.

Deimos, scouring for anything of interest, soon came across boxes of modified ammo. Enhanced with the powers of the warp, these bullets are incredibly efficient at ripping through enemy armor.
>Scavenger; 1 XP!

Deimos took;
  • Inferno Bolts; +1d6 damage (Amount; 20)

Looking among the demented banners, Chaplain Aleros found many defiant symbols of chaos. Most notably, the heraldry of the Iron Warrior traitor legion.
>Investigator; 1 XP!

As the other terminators finished up their looting, Rand took to burning the other various items stowed in the makeshift camp.

The flames' crackle was previously the only sound in the scorched chamber, until a larger array of Bolter Fire surprised the terminators from seemingly nowhere. The cultists, aiming from their tunnel cover, had been waiting for a sufficient diversion. With Rand's unexpected Flamer attack being as good as any, The heretics dove into battle, with a few of them coming out of their hiding places to engage in hand-to-hand combat.

Demios was happy to find the new super rounds, but would save them for something big and hairy, something that would truely appriciate being ripped apart by these rounds. Or, rather, something she would truely appriciate. But, all hope of anything else was totally expunged when the entire place was lit up with a Flamer, burning anything that might help them with their investigation.

However, before she could verbally rip into Rand for his foolish actions, Cultists sprang from nowhere and attacked them all. Luck, or some unforseen hand, was with Deimos, asn she was able to avoid both the ranged attacks, and then the physical attacks that came her way. Not one to sit idely by and get shot at, she had her armour calculate the ballistic trajectory of the shots fired in her direction - shots she managed to avoid because of her Enhanced Target Finder's capabilities - and then launch a salvo of Krak missiles in their direction. Hopefully, the charges would blow away any hopes of cover for the Cultsts, and maybe a few actual cultists as well. She then turned her attention to the cultist in front of her, and fired up the Assault Cannon, standard rounds.

"Ha! That's it! Surrender yourselves to the Red Wolf, heretics!" Rand said as he let loose a font of flame from his flamer as result of his overwatch, laughing wholeheartedly as the cultists rushed him and failed to connect, "May you suffer in it's maw!"

With that, Rand would draw up his power sword, attempting to tear into the nearest cultists. Having trained many years, even unsuccessful blows were used to force his opponent into unavoidable situations where a following strike was sure to connect. Even so, he would do his best to position himself at the forefront of the battle, pushing back his enemies to allow for ranged retaliation from his battle brothers.

A blood rage bubbling through his veins at the sight of the heretics, Zethidis aimed his Behemoth astartes at the nearest and fired its huge slug round at the none believer, screaming with all the air he could muster "You fight without the Emperor's strength. Try fighting without your innards, cowards!". Zethidis was a keen shot, and fired as many rifle shots as he could into the soft flesh of the heretics.

His gritted teeth behind his armoured helm were awash with a crimson blood as his dark heart beat ever faster in the fray of battle, his right bare cheekbone scrapping against the cool metallic inside as the gun shot back.

The Chaplain, as he looked upon the banners with disdain, saw one looking back at him, the Iron Mask, backed by a red background. That of the Iron Warriors.
"Brothers! Traitors of the Iro-" Flames wracked the room and bolter fire erupted seemingly from all around him. Chaplain Aleros staggered backwards, he knew he'd been hit, the shots having pierced his most holy shield and armour. Gritting himself against any feeling of pain, he remembered his vows as his eyes searched the tunnel ways for his prey.
"I shall Uphold the Honour of the Emperor and of those that fight besides me... I shall Suffer not the Unclean to Live" He spoke aloud as he marched forwards bringing his Crozius Arcanum to bay. He walked calmly and with purpose, passing his brothers engaged in combat with the heretics that had charged them. His eyes locked onto those that had fired upon him. The Crozius Arcanum in his right hand crackled to life with power as he approached the four heretics. The skull helm of the Chaplain would be the last they ever saw. For those that waged war against the Emperor of Mankind deserved no other.

"HA!" Rand exclaimed as the powerfield tore his assailant apart, the momentum of the swing carrying the blade behind the wolf as he tightened his grip. Noticing the assault of Aleros, Rand could only help but chuckle as he bore his teeth beneath his helm, "Give them hell!" With that, he'd turn his attention down onto the exposed area beneath the encampment.

"Your taint cannot be hidden, you flith!" With that, he'd loose his combi-flamer into the tunnels below, aiming to torch the scattering cultists as they fled and cut off a possible route of retreat.

With a growing rage brimming at the shores of Zethidis' sanity, his hands shaking with bloodlust at the sight of his target being blown apart before him, he laughed menacingly as the heretics attempted to hide beneath them. ""Flee? None can flee my wrath!" Zethidis screamed down into their numbers, his helm covered in the remains of their corrupt brother. Raising his arms above him, letting his rifle drop back around his shoulder - a great black crackling orb began to grow rapidly between his metallic fingertips.

"Your heresy warrants punishment! Even time stands against you!" With this war cry Zethidis hurled the orb forth and watched as it struck the foes below, expanding violently until it enveloped them all. At first expressions of relief covered the Cultists faces, but then these slow grins became viscous frowns as they realised something about them was slow, or rather, something about their enemy was fast.

Grinning uncontrollably Skullcavus opened up his stormbolter into their bodies, and then dove into their flailing bodies with his chain fist roaring - thirsty for flesh.

  • Distortion sphere

Having dealt with the cover of the Cultists in front of her, Deimos turned to the man very close to her currently. Somehow, he had survived, so she squeezed off a full spray rather than the half she had given him last time, in hopes that it would turn him into slightly more dead than he was currently. Everyone else seemed totally into the whole thing, and had she thought, she would have kept an eye on the Legionare, but right now only death mattered.

"Justice demands retribution!" The Chaplain bellowed as he pulled the Crozius Arcanum from the caved skull of the broken body before him. During the mans dying breath, he saw only the skull and the reflection of himself in it's visors, there was no emotion to be read, nothing at all, revealing the insignificance of his existence. Aleros managed to catch the other three heretics before him with a cleave of the most holy maul, now covered in a splatter of gore, although dealing little damage.

"Fleeing like the rats you are!" The voice of Aleros echoed as the heretics scurried into their hole in the floor. The Chaplain joined the Legionnaire firing a torrent of bolter rounds and the Red Wolf at the side of the rigid gap as he unleashed a gout of flames into the tunnels below. Aleros joined the fray, leveling his Storm bolter at those that dared fire back and unleashing a hail of bolter rounds at the heretics below. He hadn't noticed the strange sluggishness to them as they fled, nor the display of physic power by the Legionnaire.
"Rejoice! For today you shall be purified and released from your heretic ways!" Once more his voice resounded around the metal hull, for the heretics and battle brothers alike to hear. The black armour of the chaplain held several marks and holes across its frame, a splattering of blood across his Crozius Arcanum and right gauntlet, Aleros rejoiced, for this was the signature of battle, proving to all that he was a true Templar, found only where the fighting was thickest.

Actions for turn;
Minor Movement: Chaplain Aleros moves to the hole created by the Cultists where they are now hiding.
Action 1: Aleros fires his Storm bolter at a random Cultist that he hit the turn prior.
Action 2: Aleros fires his Storm bolter at the same Cultist unless he is dead, in which case will fire at a random Cultist.

Watching as the cultists fall helplessly against both his merciless wrath and the respectable brothers beside him, Zethidis jumps heavily from where he stands down into their still bodies with a metallic crash following by a limp splash and kneels amongst the pools of blood and scattered flesh scraps. Beneath his hoarse breath, like a desperate man below murderous water, the softest of whispers can be heard faintly over the comms as his arm hisses and purrs.

Suddenly a cultist body is thrust into the air, and Zethidis covers himself in the crimson rain that follows as his loyal saw rips the carcass apart. "I bathe in the blood of the impure, as they will all soon bathe in there's, may Numan take this sacrifice - the light of the Emperor be hidden". With this Skullcavus shifts into the shadows before him and readies himself to scout or fight.

The skull and it's visors watched, emotionless as the last of the cultists were gunned down or fled into the inky darkness of the metal tomb. For that was what this hulk would become their tomb, no longer would the taint infest this dark place, but be bathed in the most holy light of the Emperor, for that was his will.

The same helm looked down upon the Legionnaire of the Damned, as he held the bloody corpse aloft, blood seeping from wounds on the body and raining upon his black armour, seemingly powered by the blood, the Chaplain watched as the Legionnaire blended with the shadows, witnessing first hand the powers of the warp before his eyes, he knew this to be the most unholy power born from only the corrupting taint of the warp. The macabre display was not one fitting of an Adeptus Astartes of the most holy Imperium.
"Abhor the Witch, Destroy the witch" The Crozius Arcanum, gripped in his right gauntlet hummed to life as energy began to dance, similarly the twin barrels of his Storm Bolter, wisps of smoke protruding from either were now leveled at the Terminator in the hole below.
"Brother Zethidis, as Chaplain of this mission, responsible for preserving the immortal soul, and to armour those against heresy and false pride. I find you wanting... You will relinquish yourself before me, you claim loyalty to the Emperor and yet your deeds speak in contrast. You would act a most bloody ritual and dare chant his name. Prove your loyalty, lest i be forced to administer the Emperor's Mercy." His voice resounded, alive with grim determination, belying nothing more as he gazed down at the Legionnaire bathed in blood, from atop the hole.

Rand chuckled, overlooking the pit where two of his brother now squabbled as his eyes took to scanning the area about them. Though his weapons never lowered, he still seemed much more at ease since the cease in the fight, "Let me know when you two come to blows, then I'll be interested," his voice resounded over the vox before eyeing over the corridor that flickered with psychic energy. It was only then that he felt the twinge of pain that had been inflicted upon him by the tainted bastards, rolling his shoulders to dismiss the feeling as he once again spoke over vox, "We need to get moving. Establishing a foothold must be paramount."

With that, he'd resume over looking his comrades, ensuring that no foreign surprises arose from their skirmish before.

Deimos heard the Chaplain exclaim 'abhour the witch' after the last cultist had died. Checking her weapon to see it was still functioning right, she looked up and saw the Legionare and the Chaplain about to make this mission harder than it should have been. So, with a lot of *thud*s from her terminator armour, she walked between the two, getting directly in the way of everything.
"I have met a few witches in my time. Some of them are pretty cute as well. I mean, I still shot them all, but I think you are going a bit crazy about this. Ok, Chaplains are recruited for their crazy, but this crazy, is a little too crazy. So, let's just keep going with what we are doing, and not make this any harder than it has to be. We aren't exactly numeorus, you know?"

Zethidis was silent and still in the deep shadows, keeping a keen eye on his alien surroundings with his rifle aimed down the passage which the cowardly cultists fled down. His finger twitched slightly as his blood began to slow its flow, and his nerves fell quiet. Reaching back to grip his servo, he heard the Chaplain exclaim a witches presence and spun on his heavy heels to see no such thing – lifting his head his eyes reached the helm of the exclaimer with his stormbolter raised.

Lowering his rifle, Zethidis stood patiently as his apparent brother blatantly threatened him, daring to question his loyalty. Once the unwelcome outburst washed over Skullcavus, he began to climb up the rubble left by the explosion that had formed the gaping wound in the floor.

As his armor was heaved slowly further up the small mound, with his body within it, his onward march was halted suddenly as Deimos stepped between himself and the offender. Her words were a welcome contrast to those of the Chaplain, and it seemed an investment of trust would be suitable for this Brother.

However, Zethidis would not let such an ill-mannered speech go unanswered for, and so heaved himself back onto the level of his Brothers and rested a hand on Deimos' shoulder, his faceless helm looking into hers as the last of the heretics blood fizzled and steamed away from his black metallic shell. His voice broke against the silence as a wave breaks against a beach, and if any emotion was heard at all, it was great anger held back by a patient calm “Thank you... I will however... Face the chaplain, if you will...”.

Once finished Zethidis exerted the smallest of forces on Deimos and pushed past her. Facing the Chaplain, Zethidis let his rifle rest with a shrieked thud on the metal of the floor, his stormbolter also falling to the floor.

“Mercy?” His voice scratched the comms with its sharp talons. “ I am yet to feel such luxury, Chaplain.” His hand slowly lifted, and rest on the stormbolter that was pointed at him. “I have never felt the kind mercy of a stormbolter... Nor that of a Crozius Arcanum.” He skull hissed from its home on the back of his armor and hovered by him now, its empty eyes staring at the side of his helm.

“No...The only mercy I have ever felt is that of which you speak... The mercy of the Emperor.” The skull began to move around his helm slowly, the many locks and seals being broken. Zethidis stood silently for a moment as the job was finished and the raised his hands to his helm. “ In my chapter, some call me Skullcavus.” Lifting his helm away, his horrific face and its grotesque features were revealed.

The lower left jaw shines a bright white as the blood stained bone was exposed, surrounding the gap in his flesh, many small metal plates have been drilled and melded into his face to stop the flesh from ripping. His left eye has been replaced by an optical substitute, although it is not an exact fit, as the cavernous dark in the shallow of his eye can still be seen around the soft red light. His teeth are metallic and his lips drip with an almost black but red blood. A cough escapes him, though his face seems not to shift or change, but a small stream of blood surges from the depths of his throat and trickles between his teeth.

Though these wounds are not abnormal, the unnerving features are what is left. His entire face, from chin to crown consists of small patches, stitches still visible, each a different shade and complexion. From his right cheekbone to the tip of the same ear, covering both his eye and forehead the skin is a mix of violent and raw reds to deep scorched earth black.

“Neither I nor my Legionnaire Brothers were shown mercy, Chaplain. Khorne and his followers know no such word. We stood, upon the very bones of our fallen brethren as the Daemons came in waves. Falling to our united might they were vanquished and burnt.” A droplet of blood streams from behind Zethidis' optical eye and down his face and over the white of his jaw. “ Then a great rumbling following... And we were met with such hatred... The Black Legion banner crested the hills... and so the Legion of the Damned... The chapter you dare scorn!” Spittle and blood rush from Zethidis' lips as his rage grows. “We raised our own banner and fought with equal hate and MERCY was not shown on that day.”
“My squad killed from afar... our retribution cut down our foes... then a soft crackling from behind our line... A chaos sorcerer appeared from nowhere.” Zethidis' tone and voice cracks like a whip now, he speaks fast and aggressively – these memories are far from comforting.

“I was the first to fall to this abomination, a fiery ball struck my helm and sent me flying from my position into an adjacent wall of the broken building we were in, the fire continued to burn, and its thirst was only quenched when it had fed on my flesh.” Zethidis now points to the burnt right of his face, his eyes never leaving the helm of the Chaplain. “ My Brothers fell subsequently, all 8 of them to this single and powerful enemy. The monster turned to me, levitating and dropping each of their corpses before me... He walked slowly along their bodies, each step was upon their skulls and each skull cracked and collapsed to his boot.”
Zethidis pauses for a moment and picks up the rifle from the floor. “Brother Vuldie.” Pausing once more he reaches to the stormbolter and yet another blood droplet runs from his face. “Brother Prast.” . Zethidis lay the weapons down gently and his skull began to circle his head once more. “When finally he had finished his fun I lay there half conscious, and watched like a helpless spectator as his blade and hand ripped what remained of my flesh from my face, leaving the burnt section clinging to my skull.”
“When I awoke... I was lay there still... My brothers around me numbered few but we had claimed a bitter victory. When we returned to our ships I was fixed up. They had salvaged what remained up my Brothers, and now I carry them with me, stitched into my own identity. They are a part of me. I refused any other replacement other than my one eye, the other stays but is of little use after being burnt.”

Zethidis speaks slowly now, he has calmed at the thought of his fallen brothers and that they live on in him. “They could not recover enough to cover the entirety of my face... The sorcerer made sure of that it seems...”.

Zethidis raises his dark helm in his hand and places back where it belongs, and the skull floats around him once more. “You do my Brothers and I a great disrespect to question my loyalty... The fire that burnt me has given me powers that once my enemy might have harnessed... I hold no allegiance to its origins... The Emperor gave me the strength to live on... So long as I live I will kill those that taint his name...”.

The helm hissed and with one final seal clicking into place, Zethidis grabs the skull and puts it back into its holder, he then takes his rifle and places onto his back and lifts the stormbolter from the floor. “Do not speak of loyalty to me Chaplain, my loyalty is undying.” With this Zethidis turns from his Brother and walks slowly down the mound of rubble once more with echoing thuds, his guard up as well as his stormbolter as he reaches the bottom.

The Chaplain stood, impassive with an unnatural calm as evident by his stance, and below the helm, his features. For there was nothing more needed, only duty and the requirement that his charge be done. He would meter out the Emperor's will with the utmost of loyalty and steadfastness, even if it resulted in his own death. He watched as the Legionnaire climbed to meet him, in response Aleros would take a few steps back in order to allow the astartes to talk on even ground, he could afford the marine that much, to talk as equals before the truth.

Watching as Deimos stepped between the two brothers, he didn't know which angered him more. Her brash and blatant trust she seemed to place in the Legionnaire or her reasoning, fraternizing with the enemy and the heretic. His resolve and calmness remained as he watched the Legionnaire place a hand upon the Imperial Fist, that which might be seen as a symbol of comfort to those not of the adeptus astartes, conditioned to feel no such emotion. What Aleros saw was the corrupting taint of the warp placing a hand on a member of his founding chapter.
"Deimos, step back and allow justice to be dealt here. The taint if left at bay will serve only to corrupt, and then those who fight besides it." He spoke in response.

At the precipice of a jagged, molten hole, descending into darkness and blood. The two terminators stood face to face, one donned in black armour bearings bones of the damned, the other black, bearing the simplistic markings of a chaplain, a Rosarius dropping over the imperial Aquila across his chest and evident damage across it's surface. One skull helm, once more looking into the cracked skull helm of the other. Aleros watched the marine before him, as he spoke of mercy, the servo skull moving around his helm removing that which kept his helm secure.

Aleros remained unnerved and unflinching, as he looked upon the desecrated flesh of the terminator. His appearance, scarred and desecrated. If Zethidis had hoped for a reaction. he was to receive none as he revealed his face to the Chaplain.

His face was an abomination of flesh, sown together. Surely no Apothecary of the Imperium would mend a wound, even as serious as Zethidis' in such a way, for Bionics were readily available. No, this held a much darker meaning to the Chaplain, doing nothing but enforcing the Chaplains previous views of the Legionnaire. Aleros however would word nothing as he listened to Zethidis recounting his tale, until it had ended and the cracked skull helm once more contorted the Legionnaires voice through the vox.
"Brother Zethidis, we all bear scars for what we fight and believe in. We expect as much mercy as that which we deal to the enemy. None."
"Do not tell me of your scars and expect them to represent your loyalty to the Emperor. For I have seen the stoutest of warriors fall to the corrupting influence of chaos and the warp, despite heralding scars of war and able to claim a number of kills in the Emperors' name."
The Chaplain spoke steadily, as the Legionnaire turned his back. Aleros clamped one hand on the terminators shoulder, holding him in place as he spoke.

"Your face and your wounds, which you claim as your defense. Mean nothing, for even Dreadnoughts, those that have made greater sacrifices can be corrupted by the most unholy. You wield powers of the witch and heretic, you wield that which you can not understand, such power is unholy and corrupting, do so in my presence and I WILL strike you down where you stand. My charge as Chaplain is to root out this taint before it can take root. And that is what i shall do. Your loyalty is unquestionable, to whom however is. I will allow you one chance to prove your worth, you shall remain with us, prove your loyalty in combat in the Emperors name and you shall be absolved of doubt in the anvil of war. Cross us however, and you will receive the mercy you crave." The Chaplain spoke, before releasing his grip on the terminator, allowing him to make his way down the pit.

Aleros remained at the top, watching from the edge of the twisted gap.
"I do not believe it wise to begin traversing those twisting tunnels, one could easily become lost. We would be best continuing down the hall, for more chaos awaits us. There you shall prove your worth Legionnaire of the Damned, before your brothers and the Emperor." The Chaplains words echoed down the pit.

The Terminators, with a slight quarrel ripping through their men, discern their ultimate goal to be within the grasp of the chaotic hall.

Walking down the hall, the Heros are not faced with more assualtiants, but with yet more stranger and vivid visages that could trouble even the most willed of Astartes. The walls blend in with these hallicinations, the faces of daemons burning like white hot furnaces against the metal sides of the corridor.

Soon, the Terminators are blinded by these warping daemonta, almost transporting them to a imaginary setting away from the reality of the Spacehulk.

Suddenly, through the abstract fires and creatures burning around the persisting terminators, comes the appearance of 3 unreal doors, each formed in the shape of an alienated facial expression.
  • The First, with an expression of extreme bloodlust and fury, shows a multitude of allegiance to the god Khorne.
  • The Second, with bloated features and a hopeless aura, gives it's origins to Father Nurgle and his sickening legions.
  • The third, glowing purple and releasing an alluring musk, shows an incarnate of pleasure and desire, attracting the Terminator's with it's desecrating, Slaanesh scent.

Having come to the split in their pathways, Rand held up his powersword as if signaling the squad to a halt. As his eyes scanned over each of the doorways, he couldn't help the subtle growl beginning to resonate over the vox, "Bloody hells... They've certainly made themselves at home." Carefully the Wolf would begin to pace before the doors, "We can't have that now... I'd see this ship torched before I let these swine settle here," a subtle glance would be cast back towards the party, "If it were up to me, we'd deliver our judgement onto the 'Bastards of Khorne'. But I won't lie... That door to the far right has my attention," Another growl would resound, this one disturbingly more sensual, followed shortly by a round of laughter.

Drawing up his flamer, he'd wait for his party to decide on a course of action, "Choose quickly, brothers. The All-Father must not be kept waiting.

Aleros, the Black Templar gazed at each door. Each bearing the marks of the Chaos gods, three of the four were present. The bloodthirstiness of Khorne, the plagues of Nurgle and the pleasure incarnate of Slaanesh.
"They have taken it upon themselves to box themselves in like rats. Like wheat they will fall before us, no matter their gods for we are the sickle of the Emperor." They would find battle behind all doors he sensed, but the most hard fought would be the daemons of Khorne, those whom lived for war and blood. His gaze fell on the Legionnaire, it seems those aspects were present in their own midst. He would watch over the Legionnaire, for the terminator was now his charge. His to bring back to the path of enlightenment. However, part of him was in doubt. Bringing the Legionnaire into the more powerful forces of the warp might twist him further into the abyss he had begun to walk, or bring him into the light. Either was an option and a risk.

"I say they want blood, who are we but the most worthy to sate their bloodlust with their own. And Zethidis, you might earn your honour, and sate your own glory. Bringing retribution to those that have wronged you, those that have scarred you" He spoke, a goading hidden within his words. He sensed the anger within Zethidis, it would be more powerful and useful aimed at the legions of Khorne rather than the Chaplain.
"I will wage war wherever the group as a whole wishes. However, allow me a moment to recuperate. Rand i suggest you do the same. And back there, in that dark camp of those Cultists, now slain. Before the room was set aflame, I saw the banner of the Iron Legion, Be wary brothers, traitor astartes lay nearby."

Actions this turn;
Action 1: Chaplain Aleros overwatches with his Storm Bolter on the Doors of Khorne.
Action 2: Aleros begins to Regenerate
