C R I S I S M A R S

E V O L U T I O N

Mars, the red world. Settled in the twenty first century as the population of Earth increased as did the population of Mars. Eventually the noted Lorne Corporation perfected terraforming technology in the mid twenty second century, humanity on Mars no longer had to live in a dome. They were truly free. Since then the Martian Cities have grown exponentially as Earth has become increasingly overpopulated, with Earths ruling body - The United Nations offering incentives for the working class to move to the Lunar and Martian Colonies where jobs are plentiful. However unrest began to grow due to the distance between Earth and Mars, why should the United Nations get to make decisions that affect the masses on Mars?

Then on the eve of the twenty third century the entire population of Mars felt an unexplainable seismic event rock the entire planet. The event was still being investigated one month later when, without reason, people all over the planet began exhibiting strange, unique and superhuman abilities. The United Security Force immediately began cracking down on these individuals. Tensions are rising on Mars, this is where we begin...

Welcome to Crisis Mars, in this roleplay we will be experiencing the lives of individuals whose lives were changed by an event that gave them extraordinary powers. These people have no idea how they gained their abilities, all they know is that the UN and their 'United Security Force' have begun hunting down these individuals, causing people to disappear all over Mars simply adding to the growing dissent. Mars has become a boiling pot of conflicting views and opinions, between the Pro-Earth camps and the Independent Mars groups.

This is a sandbox game, however I will periodically introduce an event that anyone in the IC can join should they so choose. While I have spent some time on background lore/technological information besides the rules that I list you are free to create and help shape this world. Now that that is past, let's get onto the good stuff.

Timeline

1610:First telescopic observation of the night sky: Discovery of Jupiter's moons, lunar craters and the phases of Venus.
1961: Yuri Gagarin becomes the first man in space, First flight of the famous Apollo program takes place in the same year.
1969: Apollo 11 lands on the moon, Neil Armstrong being the first human being to set foot on it's surface.
1972: The last Apollo mission flies.
1974: First attempt at landing on Mars.
1976: The first martian landing takes place.
1991: Soviet Union is Dissolved.
1997: First operational Rover on another planet lands on Mars.
1998: The International Space Station is sent into orbit to be constructed.
2019: The Icarus program launches it's first mission to attempt to land a man on Mars.
2023: The first man lands on Mars with the success of Icarus-3.
2050: The first colony is founded upon the Moon.
2070: A small colony is started on Mars.
2073: All Nations within the United Nations agree to turn sovereignty over to a senate by mass vote. The United Kingdoms Jason Lorne becomes the first elected President of the United Nations.
2075: 'Armstrong Town' is officially recognized by the United Nations.
2080: Nations flock to join the United Nations as the Red Alliance (China, North Korea, Cuba, Russia, Vietman and some smaller countries) invades South Korea.
2090: The UN and RA try to hold a peace summit, a cease fire is called.
2099: Martian Colony grows to the point of receiving a seat within the UN Senate. This is the first and only seat it will ever hold.
2100: The RA advanced further into South Korea. The UN declares war.
2105: A Nuclear Warhead is fired at the United Kingdom, London is lost.
2106: All out UN Offensive. The RA is disbanded by the end of the year. Main settlement on Mars is renamed to "New London".
2110: The United Nations becomes the primary power on Earth.
2126: World Peace is Declared.
2149: Fresh Air initiative makes the Mars Atmosphere habitable.
2150: New Londons Dome is dismantled.
2151: Gateway a new city on Mars is established, marketed as a primary spaceport.
2152: An exploration team is sent to Jupiters Moon Titan. It is lost with all hands.
2159: Mining operations begin in the Asteroid belt, all ore is processed and refined on Mars.
2165: The Hub is constructed and placed as a refueling point within the belt, second mission to Titan is dubbed a success.
2179: The Lorne Corporation conducts another mission to Titan via Mars in order to establish a research outpost.
2191: Dissent begins to grow on Mars as the working class expands and the economic gap grows.
2198: Protests and Riots begin arguing against the unfair treatment of Mars and her people.
2199: UN-Military presence increases.
2200: Mars shakes for an unknown reason.
Febuary 2200: People begin exhibiting super-human abilities.
March 14th 2200: Roleplay begins.

United Nations

The United Nations was formed after the events of the Second World War. However it wasn't until the events of the 2100s that the United Nations finally took control. Each member state elected a representative into the Senate, and every four years an election was held as to who would represent the planet as a whole. Since then, there has been no war on Earth.

The UN Controls Mars with an iron fist, under the guise of a guiding father figure. Mars, despite being an entire planet, only gets one representative in the Senate and the only candidates who have the power to get elected are funded by large corporations with ties to Earth. There is a general feeling of distrust towards the UN due to the amount of control they wield over the Martians. Protests have become a regular occurance outside of the UN Spire in the centre of New London. Thus far the UN has responded peacefully to these protests, changing labour laws and giving the Martians a little more freedom. However in recent days there has been a noticably larger military presence.

Lunar Colony

The Lunar Colony was the first to be established in 2050. It is substantially smaller than the colonies in Mars comprising of only one settlement named 'Armstrong Town', a name that started as a nickname but became official in 2075. This colony is largerly designed for research due to the inability to make the moons atmosphere habitable. That said most space traffic to Mars comes through the Armstrong Spaceport as a fuel saving measure.

Many people from the Lunar Colony only live there on rotation. The majority of junior staff come from Mars and have longer rotations than the senior staff that is largely comprised of people from Earth. This is claimed due to the fact that Martians are used to the lower gravity than those from Earth.

Mars

The first colony on Mars was established in 2070. Initially called Tharsis it was later renamed to New London in honor of the destruction of London in the war with the Red Alliance. It remained a domed city until 2150 when the Lorne Corporation successfully completed it's Fresh Air initiative. Celeberation was had and eventually the dome came down. A single slab of hexagonal glass sits in a park within the city as a memorial, in it is carved the names of all those who died in order to make Mars a better world. Though with no need for a dome New London quickly expanded, mining and refining operations thrived.

New sites were able to be opened in mineral rich areas and in 2151 Mars' second city Gateway is founded. Marketed as a space port it boasts state of the art ship building, launching and landing facilities. Meant to be a stepping stone for Humanities next steps among the stars, it becomes a major refinery when mining operations are launched in the belt and Mars gains an economic boom. However as the Lorne Corporation and the UN gain complete control over Mars dissent begins to grow within the populance. Protests are held in New London, site of the UN-Spire. An increased Military Presence is the response.

In 2200 the entire planet feels a seismic event, unexplainable and most scientists on planet shift their focus to discovering the reason behind this phenomenon. However one month later as people began exhibiting super-human abilities the UN quickly began abducting and imprisoning people. This could not have happened at a worse time, as the dissent has only grown as a result.

Technology

Artificual Intelligence

After an incident in 2143 all A.I. projects have been disbanded and the practice of developing a computer program capable of thinking for itself has been made illegal. The public can only speculate at the reason behind this law all that is known is at least one death was caused due to an altercation with an A.I.

This law is not present on Mars, allowing the military and other organisations to employ A.I systems such as the Advanced Reconnaissance and Tactical Electronic Interface (ARTEI) prototypes and the Command Control and Analysis Centre (CCAC).

Virtual Intelligence

It is a finite difference however V.I programs are still the norm for robotic systems as well as most other computer systems. These however require annual memory wipes by law to prevent a V.I from accumulating too much data and possibly becoming more advanced.

Hologram Technology

Holograms while common are still highly expensive, the smaller more portable devices only owned by the richest businessmen or playboys. Largely used for advertisement or entertainment purposes they have found their ways into education, law enforcement, health care and other sectors. They're most commonly seen on Mars through the Public Announcement system, with transmitters dotted all over the city to relay important news tot he masses.

That said the most simplistic form of hologram is available to the masses. In that holotablets exist. Holotablets have a small strip of battery and a pane of glass. A 2d Hologram is projected onto this glass that can then be interacted with by touch.

United Security Force

United Security Force

The United Security Force, or U.S.F. is the primary military of the United Nations, and consists of ground, air, naval, and spacefaring forces. The USF's primary goal is the protection and security of the UN from internal and external threats, and are a combination of a military and police force. Highly militarized, the USF is the largest armed force in the solar system, and features dozens of specialized divisons within it designed for specific tasks. With advanced technology, training, and numbers, the USF have risen from its once humble position as a protection service for UN officials to a full fledged peacekeeping force.

USF Peacekeeper Corps

The most visible, and largest division within the USF is its Peacekeeper Corps. Flooded with hundreds of volunteers each year, searching for ways to make a difference, join a brotherhood, or merely make a better life for themselves, the Peacekeeper Corps fills the USF's primary role as police officers and peacekeepers. Peacekeepers vary from lightly armed and armored law-enforcement roles, to more heavily equipped SWAT and security roles. The Peacekeeper Corps by far have the least experienced men and women within its ranks, and is often the starting point for careers in the USF. Quality of training and equipment is typically inferior to the other divisions due to the larger numbers and inexperience of its members. USF Peacekeepers are often supported by X2 security mechs and occasionally A-1 mechs.

USF Regulars

Well trained and disciplined, the USF regulars make up the primary component of the USF's fighting forces. Regulars is where most individuals spend the majority of their USF career. Well organized, and equipped with high quality technology and equipment. While not as numerous as the Peacekeeper Corps, the USF Regulrs maintain a sizable force, and have approximately 20,000 soldiers currently garrisoned on Mars. USF Regulars are commonly encased in B-01 Combat armor, and are regularly supported by X3 combat mechs. The soldiers stationed on Mars sport red armor plates as opposed to the Earth group's blue.

USF Special Forces

Heavily armed, and exceptionally well trained, the USF Special Forces are a force to be reckoned with. Regularly dubbed "Hunters", USF Special Forces soldiers often operate in small units or alone, and are highly competent and equipped with cutting edge technology. The exact number of Hunters in the USF is unknown, and the roster of names is highly classified. Highly independent, the nature of most of their missions are unknown to the rest of the USF, and it isn't uncommon for Hunters find themselves on the wrong side of the common law. Hunters have no specified uniform, but commonly wear some form of the advanced CA-05 Battle Armor when involved in combat situations.

USF Equipment & firearms

M440 Carbine
Lorne Corporation's modernization of the venerable 21st century AR-15 platform. The M440 is a compact and lightweight weapon that is easy to use and highly customizable. A moderately priced mid-tier firearm, the M440 is the standard rifle for USF Peacekeepers who favor it for its versatility and effectiveness. While not the hardest hitting rifle on the market by far, the M440 is quite accurate for its light frame, and has modest armor penetration capabilities. Often fitted with an adjustable electronic sight and foregrip, X2 security Mechs are often spotted using M440s with large drum magazines.

CQC-11 Shotgun
A pump action shotgun in popular use by police forces, military, and civilian shooters, the CQC-11 is hefty and rugged, and is relied upon for many shooting needs. Using a 7+1 internal tube magazine, the CQC-11 can load a variety of ammunition, from buckshot, to slug, suppression foam, and rubber. While not the most advanced weapon in the USF arsenal, the CQC-11 is cheap, easy to use, and sturdy enough to be used as a club in dire situations.

C32 Carbine/SMG
Putting intermediate cartridges in a compact, submachinegun frame, the C32 carbine delivers impressive firepower at close ranges. Originally designed as a submachinegun, the UN quickly demanded that this weapon be upgraded to use the armor piercing rounds that rifles used, due to the increasing presence of armor on high profile criminals and pirates. The C32 frame features a powerful recoil-reduction system, making this weapon exceptionally easy to control, and useful in close quarters situation, as well as medium distance engagements. Its specially designed shock absorbing stock further reduces the amount of recoil felt. The result is a relatively lightweight and easy to control weapon, with rifle grade firepower. This weapon is highly favored amongst all divisions of the USF. Civilian models of this weapon are limited to semi-automatic functions and load pistol caliber ammunition.

M780 Assault Rifle
The standard assault weapon of the USF, this powerful assault rifle fires full power 7.62 rounds from a sturdy frame. Featuring a decent sized barrel for accuracy, and a 24 round magazine, this weapon sees common use by USF regulars, and is occasionally used as a marksman weapon by Peacekeepers. This weapon can also be equipped with a bipod and high capacity magazine to serve as a light machinegun system. Relatively versatile, this weapon, while heavier and more expensive than the more common M440, remains popular with the civilian population as well. Military variants feature automatic, and two-round burst modes, while civilian variants are single-fire only.

STAKEN Battle Rifle
A heavy battle rifle typically used by the USF, but occasionally used as a machinegun platform. Designed by Enson Corp. the STAKEN fires advanced, chemically powered 7.62mm rounds with considerable velocity and accuracy. The weapon is heavy, and difficult to handle, with considerable recoil but it features almost unparalleled stopping power, punching clean through lighter or unreinforced cover. Used extensively by USF Regulars requiring heavy firepower, it features a fire rate of 750 rpm, usually uses a 20 round box magazine, though a larger 50 round box is often combined with a bipod for a heavy mounted weapon. It is also the primary weapon for A-1 Tactical Enforcers. The STAKEN is a highly regulated weapon, and is illegal for regular citizens to own.

R36 Combat Shotgun
These powerful bullpup shotguns are favored by military and special forces and are capable of firing a wide variety of ammunition types, from standard shot, to slugs, electrostun, rubber, and suppression foam. Featuring a 12 round magazine, these weapons have a hefty kick, but considerable stopping power. While the R36 is often used as a primary weapon, the A-1 Tactical enforcer uses the R36 as a sidearm.

APP-3 Pistol
The Takashi Industry's APP-3 is one of the most common weapons in the solar system. A versatile, ubiquitous ballistic weapon, this pistol is a common sight throughout the system, and is a common sidearm for militaries, police forces, civilians and criminals alike. The APP-3 has a built in laser/light module, and can be fitted in a variety of sidearm calibers, though the most common is .45 HSC. It is sturdy, rugged, and reliable, though is a decidedly mid-tier weapon. Military variants include a three-round burst setting as well as a semi-automatic setting, civilian models only have semi-automatic firing modes.

Bullhammer Mk II
A powerful revolver weapon favored by sport shooters, snipers, and special forces, the Bullhammer Mk II is a heavy revolver that fires the powerful .357 magnum rounds, which can be fitted with small micro-explosives in the case of the military. An advanced recoil compensation system built into the weapon results in high muzzle velocity and power, with a comparatively lower recoil. The Bullhammer has a break-open frame (it opens from the top- like the MP412 Rex), and a double action trigger, and comes built in with a targeting laser.

Electron Grenade
The Electron Grenade is a multi-purpose smart grenade made for incapacitating enemy infantry and electronics. The Electron Grenade has multiple settings. At its standard setting, the Electron Grenade emits a sudden lethal electrical charge detonating explosives capable of eliminating enemy personnel within a 15 foot radius, and incapacitating them at up to 25 feet. A more common, lower power setting emits a less-then-lethal charge, capable of incapacitating personnel within a 15 foot radius. The EMP setting emits a powerful electrical charge capable of overloading and disabling all electronics within a 10 foot radius. This high powered electrical charge also disables the explosive within the grenade from within - though the grenade's case protects it from charges from outside. The Scan setting emits a low power charge across a 30 foot radius, the low powered wash of electricity marks the silhouette of anyone caught within the blast on the HUDS of USF troopers. Due to the relative low power of the scanning charge, the grenade can be picked up and reused almost indefinitely.


Electron Mace
Heavily used by riot police, the Electron Mace is a retractable baton used for the express purpose of clubbing uncooperative or otherwise troublesome individuals. At the push of a button the mace's head projects an electrical field capable of sending a powerful, debilitating shock through the intended target. Highly effective on unarmored targets, and capable of disrupting electronics, the Electron Mace is often used as a less lethal alternative to a melee or close combat weapon.

USF Robotics

X2 Security Mech
The X-2 Security Mech is for all intents and purposes, a robotic cop. Powered by a B-Grade Lorne V.I. the X-2 is considerably "smarter" than its cousin, the X-3. However, unlike the X-3, the X-2 is nowhere near as sturdy, and while its structure is considerably sturdier and stronger than that of the average human, it is still fairly vulnerable to small arms fire, and is often protected by additional armor. Relatively fast and dexterous, the X-2s are often equipped with advanced scanning and camera equipment, and often serve as scouts for Peacekeeper squads in situations where it is too dangerous to risk a human life. They're commonly seen sporting USF Peacekeeper armor and equipment, and each Peacekeeper squad typically has 1-3 X-2s supplementing their ranks.


X3 Robotic Infantry Mech
The ubiquitous X-3 is the most easily recognized robot on Mars. Cheap (relatively speaking), sturdy, and obedient, the X-3 stands in at roughly 6'4", and features extremely durable plating. Typically powered by a C-Grade V.I. the X-3 is considerably slower, physically and mentally than its X-2 counterpart, but is still capable of beating the standard human reaction time. Resistant to small arms fire, the X-3 often serves alongside USF Regulars as frontline infantry, and it isn't uncommon for there to be an X-3 for every 2 or 3 USF regular. The X-3 is not solely used by the USF either, and many PMCs and private companies use the X-3, and even pirates and raiders have gotten their hands on at least a few X-3s.


A-1 Tactical Enforcer
Considerably less common than the more ubiquitous X2 and X3 robotic infantry units. the A-1 Tac-Enforcer stands in at 7 feet in height, though their effective height while in a combat stance is closer is closer to 6'8" and weighs just under a ton when fully equipped. The A-1 Tac-Enforcer is a highly advanced droid, designed specifically for handling riots, as well as engaging tactical combat scenarios, and is surprisingly mobile and agile for its size. Its already sturdy artificial body is clothed with diamond-carbon weave kevlar, and encased in additional high strength alloy armor plates are equipped on the body making the A-1 highly resistant to small arms fire, natural hazards, and explosives. Equipped for large scale riots, the A-1 is even capable of being a threat to medium sized vehicles. These units are typically equipped with A-Grade V.I., and are rather expensive.

Lorne Corporation

The Lorne Corporation was established in 2004 in the United Kingdom. It remained small until 2020 where it declared, despite the United Kingdoms lack of interest in space exploration they would be the first people to put a man on the surface of Mars. It wasn't an easy task. Using wealth gained through advances in aeronautical engineering they finally came through on their promise in 2073. Jason Lorne, son of Tiberius Lorne founder of the LC_{Lorne Corporation} became the first man on Mars. That only solidified the LC place on Earth as a powerhouse.

Throughout the late twenty first and early twenty second century the LC began to expand it's horizons and influence into robotics, computing, chemistry, biology and almost every conceivable branch of science. By 2120 every human being on Earth had a computer and internet connection 24/7 thanks to the LC. When the UN began throwing money at companies to try and develop terraforming technologies for Mars the LC jumped at the possibility, as out of Earth based companies, the LC had the largest stake on Mars. Their first initiative was the Ray Shield Protocol however that fell through to be replaced by the Fresh Air Initiative. Based around several spires placed around Mars the concept was that the spires were self sufficient and self monitoring. Using known techniques to heat the planet, releasing gases to create a layer of ozone, the Spires would then activate.

Taking useful materials out of the planet crust the Spires would then use reserves of material to pump out fresh clean air. However one of the first Spires to be dropped on Mars was lost as it failed to slow on entering orbit crashing into the planets surface. The success came in 2149 where the Spire within New London was the first to be activated: as it had been the most difficult as it needed to be erected.

Since then the LC has solidified itself as a powerhouse on Mars, making everything from mining equipment to clothes. While other companies have come and gone the LC focuses on it's expansion with the planned Titan Expedition in the coming years, it has also played a part in the disappearances of the Populance across Mars after the quake of 2200. Though only a handful of personnel know about that.

Name: Jason 'Jay' Thompson
Alias: N/A
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Appearance: Jason is a young man of African American descent, standing around the height of 6'1". His physique is rather straightforward - broad shoulders and calloused hands tells of a rough life, and his form, although not bulky, is lean and muscular, and obviously packs a punch. His eyes are a dark gray, almost seemingly grayish-black in different lightings, and they tend to shine a slight silver whenever he stresses his powers to the limits - something he tries to keep to a minimum. Looks and attractiveness is something he gives absolutely no shits about, and tends to keep his hair cut relatively short - he can't exactly grow luxurious locks, now can he? As far as clothing style goes, Jason is pretty simple. Regular t-shirts and jeans, sneakers, and usually some sort of jacket thrown over it, be it a hoodie or collared coat.

Abilities: To keep it straight-forward, Jason harbors the ability of Telekinesis - something that took him by extreme surprise once it began acting up. The textbook definition of 'telekinesis' is the ability to influence/manipulate/move objects/matter with your mind, and at a broad level, this is what Jason can do. With the power of his brain in and of itself, usually punctuated/powered by physical movements, Jason can pull, push, tear, crush, and generally manipulate other matter. This also extends to himself - with only a thought, he can throw his own body, in a controlled manner, through the air, in superhuman jumps, gliding, and even flight - although the constant strain it puts on his mind stops him from prolonged flying, or aerial levitation as it is technically called. Although telekinesis is a very versatile power, Jason has only had it for a short while, and is, thusly, relatively inexperienced with it. The maximum weight he has found that he could life without feeling lightheaded is around the size of a large vehicle, and that was with a while of 'exercising' his powers, sort of like working out a muscle.

With the enhancement to his brain power, Jason has also found himself reacting more sharply to threats, his instincts and reflexes seemingly honed to an inhuman degree. This has been followed by his memory improving signficantly, if not outright photographic.

Skills: Growing up on the streets for most of his life, and not in a very nice neighborhood, Jason has learned a thing or two about fighting. In addition to his natural scrapper skills, and his honed reflexes, Jason has been on-and-off visiting a small, relatively unknown boxing gym, working on his jabs, hooks, and general close-combat prowess. Other than this, he is a naturally smart guy, even if he dropped out of high-school in the middle of his last year. His streetsmarts, common sense, and clever mind is something that has kept him from getting shot up and wasted in his lifetime, and he plans on keeping it that way.

Flaws: To balance out his skills, Jason is not booksmart-savvy. He had relatively nice grades when he attended school, mostly A's and B's, but he had never learned best by studying - he learned by doing and touching - practical things. In addition to this, he was definitely not raised in a rich or pish-posh household, and thus, he does not have the formal etiquette one needs when speaking to political and influential people of higher standards. He doesn't take people talking down to him, and doesn't care about the chain of command - frivolous politics and dick-measuring is something he simply doesn't have time for.

Background: Growing up as a child, 'Mars' was basically 'Earth' to Jason. He never knew his mother, and didn't really care - his father was the only one there for him, and the only person he really cared about.

Barry stands at a tall 6 foot 2 and has a muscular physique. His hair is a dark brown and is never allowed to grow long enough to spoil his style. He keeps himself clean shaven at all times, taking as much pride in his appearance as he does in his work. When in civilian attire, he can often be seen in a sharp dressed suit, complete with a tie bar and suspenders. When his 'rage mode' activates, streams of orange 'aura' can be seen flowing from him, and his eyes will often glow neon orange if he moves quickly enough

Abilities:
Barry has the ability of activating a 'rage mode' during a fight. The rage mode is usually limited to being activated just after someone hits, Barry, but he has been able to occasionally activate it through will. When in the rage mode, he hits hard enough to break walls, moves faster than a machine gun, and can even dodge a speeding bullet. However, this speed is mainly limited to his upper body, allowing him to punch at intense speeds. His running speed is buffed, but just to the level of slightly above olympic level.
Skills:

• Could have become a professional boxer if he didn't become a gangster, extremely quick at punching and packs a lot of power even when out of rage mode.
• Skilled in the use of firearms
• Fit enough to do what is basically makeshift parkour, untrained of course.

Flaws:

• Has to keep up appearances within the gang and therefore while he tries his best to do good, at times he needs to do bad for the sake of maintaining his identity.
• His durability is unaffected by his power, and anything that can kill a human can kill him.
• Cannot ride motorbikes to save his life.
• Not really sure if you'd call this a flaw, but he dislikes hitting women even if they are threatening his life. Of course, common sense takes over if he's in total danger.

Background:
Finbarr 'Barry' Wainwright was born in the slums of New London. His upbringing was dire, his father walked out while Barry was only young and his mother struggled to make ends meet. Often times she had to choose between heating the house and buying food, life was terrible to say the least.

Barry fell in with a bad crowd at a young age. Of course, being children they had done little wrong, but it was the children he had become friends with's families that were the problem. By the time he was 12, his friends brothers had hired him as a drug runner

Alias: "The Incredible Cactus Man" (Colleague nickname, based on an incident where he revealed his bone spikes through his skin, causing severe damage to a pushy mugger's hand)

Gender: Male

Appearance: Varies, his ability to change his height (very slightly), face(Cheeks and chin), and other small tics leave his true appearance unknown, but due to uncontrollable factors, portions can be seen. He is around 7'3". He is a natural brunette, though currently his hair is dyed blonde. Yoshihiro is muscular, despite being quite lean. He has hazel eyes. Currently, his face rests with high cheekbones, small eyes, and a small chin, a blonde beard grown over it. He is around 220 pounds.

Abilities: Manipulation of skeletal structure and increased bone, bone marrow, and associated cell healing factor. Yoshihiro is able to produce weapons from his own bone, and change facial appearance and bone density. Yoshihiro is able to survive massive blunt force trauma, though cutting and stabbing are just as fatal. Despite his ability, Yoshihiro is unable to heal tissue at the same rate, leaving him bloodied and torn if he is forced to go all out, and he is just as susceptible to bleeding as everyone else, as such, he is suited more towards a quick attack than the long haul. Yoshihiro's bones may also have issues setting if broken, forcing him to break them into place himself or seek surgery. As a result, Yoshihiro requires a high calcium diet, based mostly on milk and cheese, though he is a fan of cereal.

Skills: Yoshihiro is a military man by trade, trained in close combat and marksmanship, however, he left active service soon after a mission that traumatized him. Yoshihiro has spent most of his adult life working with machinery, and is skilled in the operation of it. As a youth, Yoshihiro trained in German fencing, and is in possession of a (Blunt) old earth Zweihander.

Flaws: Yoshihiro is unskilled in the operation of firearms, having not used one in quite a time, he also has difficulty holding one due to his PTSD. He also is unilingual, speaking only English, leaving his ability at disguise somewhat weakened. He suffers from PTSD

"What even are you?" The soldier sounded afraid, even though his cocky tones seemed to unbalance that. Yoshihiro looked at him, a thin man with a gun, not more than eighteen at most. Yoshihiro felt grossly afraid of himself as the X-ray found the fact that his neck was regenerating it's broken vertebrae. What was he? A monster? His body was growing bone faster than he could feel, was he going to turn into a sideshow attraction? A head the size of a beehive? "The incredible beehead man", the only job he would get would be at the circus, and those were few and far between these days. These days... what day was it? Last thing he remembered was landing on the stairs, a popping in his neck, and then sleep, few dreams, fewer thoughts. Had he been in a coma? When he'd awoke, they'd immediately come over to speak to him, and upon realizing that he was able to walk, the nurse had seemed deathly afraid.

"Calm down, I'm a doctor, there's an explanation to this." The soldier bit his lip. "Is there?" The doctor looked at the X-ray in silence for a few moments, before speaking slowly. "Hell if I can find it." Those words... too familiar, Yoshihiro remembered those words from... that mission. Immediately he began sweating, his heart beating faster and faster, his limbs writhing. "Calm down son! You-" A pained breath left the doctor's mouth as Yoshihiro kicked him in the throat in his writhing, he was unaware, but realized something was wrong, someone had hurt the doctor, someone was coming to kill him! He leapt from the bed, throwing a palm towards the position that the doctor had crouched down from, unfortunately the doctor stood at the same time, and Yoshihiro's palm met the man's chest. He lowered the hand at his throat, and it fell limply to the ground. Yoshihiro felt a wetness on the palm, and a red had began to spread across the doctor's clothes, before he fell, leaving Yoshihiro's arm extended. Hyperventilating, Yoshihiro slowly turned the palm towards his face, and he saw the blade, it came from the middle of his hand, bathed in the doctor's blood. His head turned, horrified to the soldier, who clutched his chest, tears running down his cheeks in fear.

"What... are you?"

Appearance: Ray stands just under six feet tall, his frame muscular and strong like that of a top athlete. His dark brown hair is buzzed short, his face is almost never cleanly shaven, he currently sports a goatee with accompanying stubble. He tends to wear clothing that doesn't make him stick out. Black boots, dark blue jeans, a grey t shirt and a leather jacket one of his more common styles.

Abilities: Ray's only superpower is teleportation. He is only in the most basic stages with the power, able to teleport himself across a room or a few blocks away with relative ease. He is unable to do anything more than that at the current strength of his powers. The act of teleportation is near instantaneous, once he has the location in mind he is able to teleport to it. He is able to teleport through walls, though the thickness of the walls can cause him trouble. A flimsy wooden wall is easy, a military grade steel one is a different story.

If he has his hands around someone, then he is able to teleport them with him, it also applies to objects but only those he can hold in his arms or are on his person. He is still inexperienced with the power and has only teleported from and to floored areas. Teleporting onto a plane, a moving car or into the air itself is not something he has tried and might not end well.

He also retains his speed when teleporting, for example if he teleports out of a car then he still moves as quickly as the car is. It allows him to pack a huge punch but must be careful to avoid inadvertent self harm.

Stress or pain causes problems with the power, as does tiredness or sickness, if he is affected by any of these then his teleportation tends to not be perfect, he could intend to teleport one place and instead go a different one accidentally, or not even move. Using the power too much in a short span causes him headaches, the more usage the more painful they are to him. In extreme cases where he overuses the power this can lead to his death.

Skills:

• His body is in top shape from consistent exercise.
• Trained and skilled in the use of firearms, best with semiautomatic pistols.
• Ray is a talented hand to hand combatant, knowing a few forms of martial arts he learned while in the military.
• Has a tactical mind, often surveys a situation before putting himself into it.

Flaws:

• Ray is as durable as a normal human being, in fact he's entirely a normal man expect for his teleportation power.
• He has a cynical outlook, never fully trusting anyone else. All that really matters to him is himself and his own life. Not the easiest person to get along with and one with not a ton of friends.
• He's a moral nihilist, in other words he doesn't believe in morality. Morals are a societal construct, nothing is inherently wrong or right to him. He does what is right for himself. If it benefits him to do something, he'll do it.
• Ray has been known to use people, when he's done with them he tosses them aside, often faking compassion or friendship while using them. Lying comes easy to him.

Background:
Ray Villarreal was born on earth to a lower middle class family in the state of California, an only child. He didn't have a lot of money growing up, but was not dirt poor. His father was an ex marine, as was his father's father and so on. In other words, it was expected that one day Ray would become a military man. His parents fought a lot growing up, often striking each other out view from their son. His father was a very strict man, one that disciplined Ray harshly, beating him when he acted wrongly.

The young Ray was not much of a student, though he passed all of his classes, he just never cared much for school. He got in with the wrong crowd whilst in high school, partying, doing drugs, drinking, committing petty crimes. Right after finishing high school he enlisted in the Marine Corps, his father pushing him towards it, though Ray was not against it.

While in the military Ray showed talents for such a life, his father had taught him how to use a gun, that part of the training was a breeze. He fit in remarkably well with the mantra, following orders and commands, though not out of a like for them but rather to avoid the consequences of not doing so. It's too bad there was not a war going on, he would have jumped feet first into it. He did his four years of service then was honorably discharged, taking the first flight to Mars that he could, eager for new opportunities on the new world.

Ray arrived on Mars as the dissent on the world began to grow, he landed a job in security for one of the wealthy mining corporations. The occupation paid well enough and with the rising tensions he wasn't often bored while at work. For a few years he held the job until he quit it and entered the less 'official' ways of living. At first it was as a bodyguard, protecting important people against the rising tides of society, then mercenary work as violence become more common.

He didn't pick a side when the UN increased its military presence, anyone that offered him enough money he would align himself with. Ray was a freelancer to the very core, making more money than ever. He would do whatever he needed, killing, robbery, assault, all common deeds. He was passed out when the planet shook, it was unusual to him, but earthquakes were nothing out of the ordinary back home.

He thought nothing of it until he teleported for the first time, unknowingly doing it, disappearing from his apartment into the hallway just outside of it. At first Ray thought that he had been drinking too much and was just hallucinating, then he did it again, consciously. It made him happy to have such a gift, in his line of work it would fit just perfectly, though he is still learning how to use the power and has to be careful.

The sounds of the city could be heard in the distance as Ray Villarreal walked down the street. A moment ago he was on the furthest outskirts of the city, a few blocks away but even now he was treading alongside the edge of New London's limits. He was in a warehouse district at the latest hours of the day, most of the workers had gone home to their families. He wasn't here for any of them, there was a wanted man he had been sent after, Jack MacAleese, some hotshot gangster who no longer found himself calling the shots. A two-bit drug dealer who thought he mattered. Ray had been tracking the man for days and narrowed down where he liked to hang out and sell his poisons.

Four figures came into his view as he popped around a fence, they hadn't noticed him moving towards them. The empty building behind them provided shade where they could commit the shadiest of deals. As Ray moved closer, in clear view of all four, one of them broke away after a handshake with another, a drug deal had just been made. Ray slowed in his walk, his eyes upon the departing man as he got into his vehicle. The three remaining criminals had their own eyes on Ray, one of them with a smile on his face. He was also the shortest one and the marked man, the two around him were his muscle, it was MacAleese.

"Can I help you, my man? Unless you're asking for directions I think you know what you're here for." MacAleese said as he flashed a cocky smile. He didn't know what Ray was actually here for.

"You made a bad deal a few weeks back, ripped off some very angry people. They want an apology and some reimbursement." Ray replied as he stopped in his step a few feet away from the group. His eyes finally leaving the departed man's vehicle as it sped off. No there would be no witnesses.

"What the hell are you talking about?" The dealer replied. One eyebrow raised, the smile evaporating.

"Carrozza, you made a deal with him, weren't truthful on your end of it. He sent me to find you and convince you." Ray said, as he locked eyes with MacAleese.

"Who are you to be making demands of me, punk? If you can't count, there's three of us and one of you," MacAleese shot back, then popped open his jacket to show that he was packing heat. His two brutes did the same, each of the with handguns. It was to be expected. "Why don't you just back off and leave, I'll forget this happened, you can tell Carrozza that same message. Back off."

"I was told you wouldn't listen to reason. I'm glad, it's more fun doing it my own way." Ray said, a smile appearing on his face before he disappeared. Making use of his recently acquired teleportation ability.

"What the fu-" MacAleese stated as the man had literally just vanished before him. Unless he was some kind of hologram, it didn't make any sense.

Still didn't when he heard the gunshot and the first of his goons dropped to the floor. He turned to find Ray behind the now dead man, his own pistol still raised as he pulled the trigger, taking out MacAleese's second companion. Holograms didn't do that. The drug dealer reached for his own piece, his hand shaking as he did so, Ray noticed the action and once more teleported, leaving the fool there with his gun raised at nothing. Then he felt someone throw a hard kick into his side from behind, right to the kidney which caused him to drop his gun.

"Let's go for a ride." Ray said from behind, taunting the marked man as he placed his hands firmly around him before they both were teleported away. MacAleese now looked down to see a grave dug in front of him, the perfect size for his body. His eyes looked around him, the freak had transported them both away from the city. There was only red dirt around them.

"Come on man, we can work something else. You don't need to do this. I can p-pay you a lot of cash if you let me go." MacAleese said as he felt the cold steel of a gun's barrel press against the back of his head.

"Not as much as it would take for me to spare you." Ray replied with another smile, then fired his pistol, the shot ringing out as MacAleese dropped dead right into his pre-dug grave. The super powered man kicked some dirt onto the corpse, not nearly enough to hide the body. He didn't care about that part, he would be gone by the time they found the dead man.

With another smirk Ray holstered his pistol then teleported once more, this time back towards the city, his head starting to ring from the usage of his powers. It wasn't anything some pills and booze couldn't fix.

Like to hear it. I will be expanding on the lore tonight, though so far I don't think there's anything that will affect anyones sheets. Except remember Mars has slightly lower gravity than Earth which means people like @Heat from Earth will be slightly stronger for a period of time, however without an extreme fitness routine they'll lose that advantage due to muscle degeneration.

Gender: Female
Appearance: Evie is a young woman, long dark hair, brown eyes. She is 5'4 and slender. She has small hands, but rough from working a sewing machine in the factory and her nails are always short because she bites them. Her clothes are home-made, either by herself or her mother, or something she has stolen from the factory. Her hair needs a good brush, but she never really pays any attention to it. She normally has it tied up or at least pushed back from her face.

Abilities: Evie's superpower is invisibility. She has yet to control it, mostly finding herself phasing in and out of visibility. She knows when it is happening because she feels a sensation, almost like pins and needles. Her mother is the only one who knows about it, as she walked into Evie's room one day to find her standing in front of the mirror, invisible from the waist down. Her mother of course screamed. This jolted Evie's concentration and she became visible. Evie has been practising trying to stay fully invisible for longer periods of time, because at present she can only be completely invisible for about a minute before a hand or foot reappears. Her mother hates her practising in the house, but Evie uses her invisibility quite often to sneak in and out. More recently, Evie discovered if she is touching someone or something else, the invisibility can spread to them to.

Skills and Flaws

Skills: Evie is good at calming people down. She is softly spoken and she can see a situation from a variety of viewpoints. This comes from years of arguing with her brother and always managing to diffuse any situation. Evie has a passion for reading and is very literate. She would often spend whole days in the library studying up on anything and everything. Evie is also good at running, making sure she stays in shape, she runs anywhere from 5-15km a day.

Flaws: Evie has never used any kind of weapon or been in a fight. If it came down to fight or flight, flight wins every time for Evie. Evie is also very stubborn and always likes to do things her own way. Evie struggles to trust people, mainly because she doesn't want to get hurt when they die or leave her.

Background

Background: Evie was born in 2179 in New London. Her parents were working class, both of them working two jobs just to get enough money for food for the family. Evie has one older brother, Justin. Her childhood was mainly normal, they lived in a small house just on the outskirts of the "bad" part of town. Her father always used to joke that they had the best house in a bad neighbourhood. Her mother always used to sigh. Both her parents worked in a factory during the day time, making clothes. Her mother would sneak clothes home for the children, luckily never getting caught. Her father worked as a security officer in the evenings, while her mother worked on some kind of "hotline" out of the parents bedroom at night. Evie could her her mother whispering away at late hours.

Life ticked along in the Morris household, things staying the status quo for sometime. Justin wanted to work for the Lorne Corporation because he thought it would be his only chance to move up in the world. He applied many times for a job but never got accepted. In 2195, Evie's father died in an accident at the factory. The family plummeted into a depression, emotionally and financially. Evie's mother quit her night job and Justin took over her father's job at the factory and as a security officer. Things weren't really the same without their father. Evie finished her education and joined her mother at the factory, thinking there wasn't any other way to live.

In 2198, when the riots began, Justin got swept up in the movement. He quit both his jobs and spent all his time organising protests, attending marches and riots. Their mother always tried to tell him to be careful, but he didn't listen. One night in September, during one particularly nasty protest, Justin was killed. The circumstances of his death were never revealed. He just never came home and Evie had a lot of questions that remained unanswered.

When Mars shook in 2200, things started to change for Evie. She didn't know what initially, but things started happening around her. People she knew began disappearing and she noticed herself that she had changed.

The alarm clock went off at 5am, same as it did everyday. Evie could hear her mother moving around in the other room. She could tell the light from the hallway had been turned on, as the glowing yellow light crept under the bottom of her bedroom door. She silenced the alarm with the flick of a switch and quickly jumped out of bed. She threw on her running clothes before her body had a chance to react to the cold. She pulled on her tatty running shoes and opened the door, trying to stop it creaking. She walked down the hallway, past her mother's door, which was slightly ajar. Evie could see her mother sitting on the edge of her bed, picture of her late husband, Evie's father in her hand. Evie didn't want her mother to see her, so she slipped past and out the door.

The air outside was crisp, cool. There was a light wind that blew in her face and she made her way down the street. She had a set route, that only varied depending on the distance she wanted to cover. Today would be a long run, 10km at least. She slowly worked her way into a steady jog, not wanting to overdo it before she hit the middle kms, the hardest part. She liked being out in New London when it was early, when most other people were still asleep. There was a quietness to the city that didn't happen at any other time of the day. There was a stillness that she never seemed to get used to.

Evie's route took her past the factory she worked at, black smoke pouring out the top at all hours of the day. She had never worked the night shift, but she assumed it was just as boring as the day time. As she ran past the factory, she wondered if there would ever be anything else for her to do in life. It seemed that like her parents, she was destined to work there forever, or at least until another tragedy struck. But maybe things were changing now. Since the shake, the management of the factory had been giving lots of overtime to staff. Her mother had been working double shifts some day. It was like they were desperate to get clothes made in case they needed to shut down. And of course, there were trying to replace members of staff that had disappeared since the shake. Evie had heard whispers, rumours about what happened, but nothing confirmed.

Evie could theorise all she liked, but she never got any answers. It did give her something to think about on her runs though. An hour later, Evie returns home, having just come short of her 10km target. She is drenched in sweat but feeling refreshed. Her mother is in the kitchen now, preparing breakfast. Evie slips past into the bathroom to get ready for work. She showers quickly and gets dressed, knowing her mother would want to leave for work as soon as she was ready. Evie stood in front of the mirror in the bathroom, tying her long brown hair up.

"Evie, hurry up. We need to go." Her mother called from the kitchen. Evie didn't acknowledge her, instead continuing to stare at herself in the mirror. She turns to leave, but pauses. Her fingers begin tingling, that weird pins and needles sensation. She looks down at her hand, and she can see it is slowly changing into the colour of the carpet. No, she isn't changing colour, she is just becoming transparent. Evie turns back to the mirror, focusing on her hands, her arms, her upper body. Slowly, her reflection disappears.

"Evie, come on. We will be late!" Her mother calls, even louder now, footsteps coming down the hall. Evie stops looking in the mirror and the tingling sensation dissipates. She grins to herself, "still got it" she thinks. Then she sighs, and leaves the bathroom, off to work for another day.
