Lunatic Dance | Mather Memorial High School

Tavia might have described the dance as going nicely if stranger than previous dances. Normally she'd drink some punch, lounge with her friends, drink some bad liquor, then go home. There wasn't much dancing (which, as she liked to mockingly say, was a major bummer), getting any recognition for her costume (she hadn't ever expected any in the first place though, so no room for disappointment there) or chatting up her classmates. Noting it was both Kenneth and Winter and all the others from class in some way presumably causing this change made her laugh. Social Conscience shaking up her routine yet again it seemed.

Shaking her head ruefully at her standing table where Ken had left her, she took another sip from her cup. The night was still a bit early for drinking.

When the doors burst open, Tavia wasn't ready for wolves. When everyone started screaming, she took off for the doors, sticking to the walls and blending in with the other bodies. Of course, she was always ready for whatever life threw at her, part of being in the Wong family honestly, but not for wolves specifically. Nearing some exits, one of them turned toward her, and she immediately threw herself to the floor under several large props. Staring up at it from her hiding spot, stifling her breaths and anxiously waiting for it to move on, Tavia could see its black-gray pelt in clear detail. The canine features on a humanoid body was unnatural and seeing it in front of her pulled a shiver down her spine. The snarling maw and the blood shining on its claws weren't helping.

There was something about being in so much danger that while her body's only goal was to get out, her mind had the chance to distance itself. And she couldn't help but wonder at how much of a B-Rate horror movie everything must have looked, with the horrifying monster and a distressed damsel in a stupidly attention-grabbing dress. Not that it was her fault, how did anyone prepare themselves for werewolves anyway? Silver bullets, clothing thrown at them by a familiar person, right? Anthony told her about it once.

A howl came from the center of the gym and the wolf went away after one final sniff in her direction. Keeping still, Tavia scanned the room for her friends. After several desperate seconds of her very carefully controlling her breathing and not thinking what could have happened to Anthony and Kat, she spotted their shaking forms where the werewolves managed to corral the students together. Letting out a trembling sigh of relief, she quietly darted toward somewhere, anywhere, with some mirrors. What was the point of having powers if they couldn't kill something? Sparing a glance behind her, she saw someone in a hoodie kill some werewolves with a liberal dosage of fire. That was the sort of thing that'd be useful right about now.

As Tavia raced up the stairs towards the mirror-lined walls of the work out room above the gym, she went through all the shit she stashed at school through her head for something useful. Before she could think of anything though, she skidded to a stop. Sebastian, Evander, and Rita were there, corpses at their feet. She didn't question it or Rita's clenched fists, the chill coming from Evander, or any of it because it honestly didn't matter by now.

She didn't bother to linger. Not even thinking about hiding her abilities, Tavia ran into the mirrors lining the opposite end of the room and disappeared with a flashy swish of her dress. The mirror plane gave her a chance to catch her breath and she near about collapsed. Several seconds of her heaving breaths in total silence and she was good to go. The hallways were a literal blur as she jogged through them. Students ran for the exits in slow motion as she passed them by. Belle and Ken looked like they were doing alright with getting them out.

Clearly, she was useless in a fight. After tonight, she was making her siblings teach her how to beat shit up, she swore to god. Jumping out from the girls' locker room nearby, she slammed into one of the walls because of the awkward landing on her heels. Tavia wouldn't have seen him if she hadn't fell, but Elroy's body was clearly hidden in the showers.

Wide eyed, she stepped cautiously toward him. She didn't know if she was glad or not that he didn't startle when she leaned over him. With no idea if this was the right procedure or not, she checked his pulse. Letting out the breath she didn't know she was holding, she sighed in relief. Sitting down on the shower room floor next to him, Tavia rubbed a hand over her face, reasonably frazzled. Maybe she should have ran out with the other students, but she couldn't just leave Elroy on his own like this. Leaning against the wall, her heart stopped beating in her ears, but she bitterly clenched her fists at every loud noise she heard coming from outside.
I just wanna say that hey cool stuff going on y'all and that I won't be able to get a post in for a few days, but not too long, Sunday at the latest!

Lunatic Dance | Mather Memorial High School

The white ruff scratched at Tavia's throat, but she was sure she'd get used to the feel of it after a while. A little itch meant nothing to having a good costume. Especially seeing as Kat and Anthony, who'd came over to her house so they could all go together, looked the same if just a little bit whiter. As she put on the final touches of her costume, retro-reflective ruffles and all, Anthony painted a waning crescent moon on his cheek, a waxing crescent on Kat's, and a full moon in the middle of Tavia's forehead. It was the only theme thing the two on either side of her did.

Instead of springing her abilities on them the night of the dance, Kat drove them to school in her tiny car. Tavia huffed in the backseat, surrounded by practically glowing fabric, crossing her arms. The two in front of her were busy chatting about whatever the hell people like them talked about and instead of putting music on, Anthony had them listening to some podcast about... she wasn't even listening, it was so boring.

As they parked, Tavia opened the door and sprung out from the backseat before the car stopped and slammed it shut. Dramatics were probably not a good idea in the shoes she was in, but having her friends focused on the dance and not on whatever was always good in her books.

"If you ever die because of that," Kat said, "I'll be singing "I told you so"s on your grave."

Tavia snorted and hooked her arms through theirs, saying, "Fight me."

Anthony spotted some friends closer to the front of the line and pushed through other people on his way to get to them. Tavia and Kat had no choice but to follow along as their arms were still hooked together but it wasn't like they were complaining about not waiting as long to get in.

Once they paid and got inside, Kat immediately pulled them towards the food. As they filled up their cups and grabbed snacks, Anthony said, "I still don't know why you come to these things."

Tavia shrugged and stole a chip from his plate. "Dunno, they're fun, ain't they?"

Kat wrinkled her nose as she sipped from her cup. "We've all got better things to do than go to a school dance."

They headed towards the standing tables along the wall, Tavia making sure to keep the two latched onto her or else they'd wander off. Anthony, a little annoyed by the uncomfortable height of the table, dragged a chair over, saying, "You don't even get to actually dance or anything. Unless you've taken up grinding?"

Tavia grimaced and stole another chip from him. He and Kat shared a Look and then looked incredibly smug at her. She hated the Look. Like, like, what was that word she'd heard them say before? Commiser- something? Whatever. "You don't even win best costume, Tavi."

Leaning against the wall, she rolled her eyes at her favorite social morons. "It's not about winnin' and it's not about dancin', you two. S'about the experience." She needed better friends. More entertaining friends at least.

"Sure, sure," one of them said, sharing another Look, god they were so similar. As Tavia was starting to get bored, Kat pulled two small books out of her stupid big purse, the traitor. Immediately, her and Anthony's attention went directly to their books and Tavia knew she wouldn't be able to pull their attention back to the dance unless it was to tell them it was time to go home. Lightly kicking Kat in the shin, she walked away from the pair.

Sighing fondly, she scoped the room for someone, anyone, to talk to. She saw Jozza. Then Elroy. Some people she didn't particularly know from Social Whatever. She continued scoping the room for someone that would be fun to talk to. Someone who wouldn't be immensely awkward to talk to, that was the goal.
I've been busy this weekend so I'll likely get in my post later today or tomorrow.

Social Conscience | Mather Memorial High School

Honestly, s'up with this place? Thought the main was supposed to be nice, Tavia complained to herself as she put her stuff away. First it was cold around that Evander kid's area and then the room gets steamy the moment that guy opened the door. Even the old art building wasn't half so bad. Someone really needed to fix the temperature regulation up there.

She leaned casually against her desk, glancing surreptitiously at the clock every so often. Judging from all her stuff cleared away and the bag thrown over her shoulder, it'd be clear to anyone she was ready to leave. It was also clear, though, that Jozza thought they'd all still be sitting around and telling each other their stories, even when the clock was ticking away indifferently. Also, Jozza? Man, she had to stop with those nicknames. As people shuffled around, she pulled her phone out and went about answering her notifications. A great example of an apathetic American high schooler, if she said so herself.

When she looked up again, Elroy was in the room. Huh. She put her phone back in her bag. Kid was always pretty keen on answering her questions, though too bad for him about the whole... arm and fam situation. Yeah, she wouldn't be calling it that around other people any time soon. He was prolly here because of, and she paused and smiled gleefully to herself when he announced it, the first week's dance.

It wasn't like she ever won those things, popularity contest tripe and all that, but themed parties always excited her. Though, since she was friends with all these "your vote matters" people, she'd throw in her lot with, well. Whoever told her to do it first, to be honest. But anyway, the themed events were when she could unabashedly focus on her costumes and no one would say shit about school work or dance practice, least no one she'd bother listening to anyways. Whole days of nothing but fabric and sewing!

Though, a loon dance, that left her so many options. As she went through all the possibilities in her head, the bell rang and she leisurely made her way out of the room, tossing a farewell behind her to whoever. Manners and all that. But should she go for European avante garde or Asian avante garde? Or mayhaps... she'd combine the two. Yes, that'd definitely do it. She resolved to finish some wonky looking thing for the dance as she entered the girl's bathroom.

As Tavia climbed through the bathroom mirror, the distinct lack of any strange temperatures in the rest of her building passed through her mind but she chalked it up to just that one room being a pain. She had more pressing matters to concern herself with.
I'm interested in this as well!
I'm intrigued... Put me on the maybe list too
I got to write "circle wank" in the collab so I guess I'm OK with whatever happens after.
You all are in for a real treat when our collab is finished. Sebastian has already sufficiently grossed out @Roman.

Yours sounds like so much fun, ours is just four people being nice to each other.
@CrumbsWell, even if Magical Girl Blues isn't up, you've still gotten me into the mood for a fantasy noir if you're up for one of those? I've got some ideas if that's any incentive.
