An airy electronic beat filled the smoky, hazy room of the bar. The TV flickered quietly on the far wall, set to a news channel. An eco-terrorist attack had recently been unleashed, a series of dirty bombs across New Helena. The local police department had kicked into full gear, with private security firms looking to preserve their employer’s investments. Vehicles drove to and fro. The public transit line was completely shut down.

Different, smaller news pieces drifted lazily across the dim, dirty screen. A raid on an ancient set of ruins yielded new technology for Transen Corporation. The military was performing exercises in the traditionally rebellious region of Ampshure. A private security firm gunned down ten. A prominent theocrat had been assassinated. It painted a gruesome picture of strife and conflict.

A cigarette was crushed into a grimy ashtray. The brief flick of a lighter, and the light warmth and security of a small flame. A circle of men sat at one of the corner tables of the bar, every so often glancing up to the news. They spoke in hushed tones, of politics and recent events. These weren’t the average patrons.

One was New Helena’s G6E inspector, the most prominent anti-terrorist division in the police department’s arsenal. The next was a prominent congressman of the fascist lean. Finally, the last was a CEO of an arms corporation, the largest in the region. They controlled the flow of weapons in and out of New Helena.

A singular beep. The green glow of a holographic display. The inspector got to his feet, shrugging on his trenchcoat. Saying his goodbyes to his benefactors, he made his exit. His division had been called to handle the attack. The remnants of his position lingered, the smoke trail slowly drifting upwards in a lazy arc.

The other two continued their smoke. They spoke very little amongst themselves. Mainly they shared looks, sending orders and messages across their respective empires from the safety of the bar and their holowatches.
Think about the size of mainland China.

EDIT: I can adjust it, but I'd like to keep it large to justify the split congress.

@Arawak
@Arawak How's that?
Any history for them?

I assume they're Solomon based, correct?

I don't really have much to go on, so I wasn't touching that for now. And yes, they're on Soloman.

Name: Aurealis
Perspective: Human
Information:

Aurealis is a hypercapitalist, industrialized society, numbering 500 million, with a strong emphasis on its military-industrial complex. Massive mega corporations are state players on an unprecedented scale, and they often field their own private militaries when they are not leveraging the truly oversized state military to their advantage. The congress is split controversially, with many different players ranging from anarcho-capitalists to fascists in control of a large number of seats.

The majority party is the anarcho-capitalists, making up about 35 percent of the seats. The next majority party are the fascists, making up only 20 less seats. From there, bickering socialists on various points of the line of ideologies make up another large portion of the seats. After that, the social democrats and the environmentalists make up 10 of the seats. Another 3 seats are occupied by theocrats. The theocrats are the most unpopular in the parliament.

The President of Aurealis is highly controversial, hailing from an authoritarian-socialist party. This has split the government even further, a fractured shell manipulated by mega corporations. They are blatantly xenophobic, preferring to blast away aliens and ask questions never. The only thing they see non-humans as good for is their technology.

The military is largely oversized, featuring about 3 million combatants and 12 million noncombatants. This is mostly pandering to the fascists, as a large majority of national combat is done by mega corporations for their own goals. Nevertheless, the military remains capable of unilateral action across the world.

The police are mostly private security firms, though some nationalized regiments do exist, mainly counter-terrorism and urban patrol.

The culture of Aurealis is extremely varied, owing to its vast span across Soloman. They are almost always xenophobic, and currently, nationalism and militarism are on the rise. This is in response to the mega corporations playing god, with the fascists and socialists in the government advising more national unity. The nation stands on the verge of riots and is essentially a corporate police state.

Individuality is valued above all in most areas, while in others a national identity is slowly beginning to arise.
