So imagine this, it's either 1912 or 1923 in a small town in the Texas Panhandle. The community at large relies on, and feeds on a growing agricultural industry as encouraged by the US federal government. This is the era where local government bodies and state-level government advertised bountiful harvest and cucumbers the size of houses. And for the intents of the RP, we play in such a fictional town that'd be a part of this life-style.

Old wood-paved main street. 19th century/early 20th century life for the common person. Classic stuff, you dig?

Might sound like a bullshit hang-out RP, in which you might wonder why I'm even bothering. So what's the gimmick? It's twist? Well, how about it's played with a malevolent god looming overhead.

The concept to my knowledge has been done before. A guy I knew operated an RP such as this. An RP in which I - acting as a likely GM - would cast upon the town a number of "disasters" to toy with the inhabitants. This may be anything from the mundane to the extreme. And the RP will be the attempts of the townsfolk - who you play as with your characters - to cope with the presiding influence of this "pagan" god, reacting to it, trying to run from it, seeking shelter to evade its hell, appease it.

You could certainly go down to the soda fountain on your own time. That stuff's still there. But RP's like this always need something to shake it up. RP's like this always need a Jumanji-tier event.

Might want to change the name, though.

"Malevolent God" sounds ominous and dramatic when it sounds like you want something fun and spontaneous.

It was spur of the moment, and the title is work in progress.

Sounds a little like Twin Peaks. I was always a sucker for the seemingly nice town with a horrible secret. Count me in.
