Education affects military success. I'll be revamping it to be more useful when this WiR is over and I start my next one.

Is that why the Italian officers were so challenged by directions early on?

Minor gripe, OC. The population of Germany appears to be around 4 million lower than it was in 1860, and 7 million lower than what it was in 1870.

@So Boerd; fixed.

Quick warning. This game is going to get boring real fast if the rest of you keep tiptoeing around Germany.

That's what I've been sayin' in Chatzy, but apparently I'm a bad person for pointing it out.

It is both entirely reasonable and largely beneficial for the Netherlands to be courting a positive relationship with Germany.

Aside from my brief alignment with the Eighth (for opportunistic reasons mostly), there are no friendly relations between Germany and Austria. It may seem like it, but that may be because I haven't had a chance to show it. We've had some talks in Chatzy though that make my stance pretty clear. I'm not continuing hostilities with Germany, simply because there is nothing for me to gain on that front anymore, so it's not worth fighting. But I'm not being super friendly with them either. It took So Boerd a bit of persuasion just to get me to agree to consider opening friendly relations with Germany. And in the end, all I agreed to was a small deal that benefits us both (to do with improving my industry). Austria is by no means a close ally though. Not an enemy, but not an ally either.

With the French-German defensive pact no one would risk it.

Italys' education at beginning of game = 32%

I must have gotten a terrible roll when I tried to send my officers over to the US to watch the ACW.

Everyone and their brother are allies with Germany. >.> Russia, France (which could mean GB getting involved), Spain. And the Allied Powers in the War of the Eighth Alliance already has shown us how fast an alliance can fall apart.

And don't forget all those treaties the Allies signed with the Eighth Alliance. No war for another 5-10 years.

UR-Qing Relations said UR: Reduce your troop numbers NOW!!!

Qing: Dude, we're at war with Russia and Prussia. We need all the men that we can get!

UR: I don't care. This mean's war!

Pretty much what happened IC.

@dedonus, how would you feel with 2 million troops on the other side of your summer vacation spots fence? :P especially when I egged their home a few years ago.

Pasta insisted I posted a treaty to go with our deal so everyone saw that our (potential) friendship is happening gradually and not all of a sudden.

Insisted sounds so harsh. :P merely suggested. I didn't spend more than one pm on the matter! :p

Edit: btw...whatever happened to Spain/Italy?

Hey, at least that was a long-lived treaty. That was two months ago.
