Well, my manifest destiny upgrade seems to be encompassed by some of the development and tech. That being said, can I just replace my mechanical adaptations with a special electronic grenade? It would be a grenade that can be lobbed/thrown, which is capable of frying electronics and circuits within a 5 meter radius of its detonation. However, when it lands near a living organism, then it gets an incapacitating shock. This shock may even cause cardiac arrest in some humans whose cardiovascular system aren't healthy. Note, it isn't an EMP grenade. It's a device that literally emits a burst of high voltage electricity.

IDK, but I finally got an idea of some of my equipment requests Brovo:

HALO – Heat and Alternate Light Optics – multi-function goggles with variable channels: Heat-source, low-light/nightvision, or protective film versus flash-bangs and welding torches.

Micro-torch – Portable torch that can be held in the palm of one's hand with a small tank that can be carried in one's backpack. Meant for quick patch jobs or for cutting through thinner metals.

Insulated Gloves – A simple pair of gloves with grips on them insulated to keep her from accidentally short-circuiting any of her equipment or setting anything off

Remote Control Car – Simple remote control vehicle amped up with an extended range, better terrain capabilities and superior speed

Toy Grab Bag – Various toys and knick-knacks Georgia carries about with her

Electronic Scraps – Various Electronic scraps that Georgia can rig in a pinch to facilitate whatever needs she might have

Wrist-Mounted UI – Bit of like a personal computer. Able to connect to and download information from other computers, tracks ally locations, communicates with Tenzin and allows her to view local maps.

Special Request –

Freddie – Floating robotic scouting eye companion to be upgraded over time. At the moment, a salvaged bit of scrap that has been rebuilt to and programmed back to be able to do basic scouting parameters, able to identify and register friendlies based upon those programmed in at the start of a mission and added in with a command... With a command, will begin a scouting patrol and begin to mark those that it encounters which will be uploaded to Georgia's UI so that she can reference them. Also comes built-in with a handy dandy panic alarm and flashlight!

Er....If I remember correctly, Brovo mentioned that special requests should be...non-combat oriented.

And it doesnt really do much combat wise. All it does is briefly flash her a current location of a target on her map. It wouldn't give her any specifics of what it is, just location and number. Not even size. So at the end of the day, i would be better off if i decided to strap a video camera to the remote control vehicle. But that's not what i want to do. : D this is something in part I plan on working in tandem with my psychic meld ability and in the future upgrading with points spent in the grunt field. In the meantime, it has no practical combat applications-- unless you're talking about utility-- at which point i have to strip off every single item i have in my inventory ever because I can think of a use for everything combat wise because I am just that ingenuitive.

GourmetItalia said I mean ... not that Chris' death was entirely his fault; Brovo ultimately froze up Jorick's character and afterwards, Melonhead's character just ate it.

No, it was completely his fault. Jorick's character locking him up saved him and I did that to stop Jorick from getting off'd in a tactical plan that lacked any kind of coherent thinking.

Modern Military Tactics Never Ever Put Infantry Blindly Forward. Ever. Ever. Sending infantry blindly forward, especially in small numbers, is tantamount to tactical suicide. Especially against enemies who have unknown capabilities but who were powerful enough to take on a mechanized battalion and utterly annihilate it with seemingly few casualties on their part.

You send drones to scout ahead. You send tanks to push the front line. You use helicopters for the aerial view. You use radar, SATCON, intel, scouting squad armed with multi-vision scopes--anything but going blindly ahead. With just a shotgun.

The mistake was made abundantly clear when he fired his shotgun at close range and it didn't kill his target. What was Jorick's rifle going to do, irritate it? Locking up and then having the passive benefit of TITK was the only reason he survived that massive tactical ineptitude. What he should have done was listen to Kadaeux and stay behind the heavily armoured mech with intense duel wield flamethrowers and provide covering fire to ensure nothing could, say, jump on his mech's knee and start tearing through the armour to the cockpit like some shadow wolves ended up doing to Zed's mech before he could even get to the battle. Instead, Melonhead took his arena training to good use--run ahead blindly and get slaughtered by the unknown enemy, and all he did was nearly take his ally out with him.

So, not to bash Melonhead or anything, but the guy has no concept of modern battlefield tactics, or spatial awareness, or basic survival traits. These things culminated to ultimately get Chris murdered.

It also didn't help that he kept doing several actions every post, which split his total alloted time up. So instead of getting to line up a shot carefully, in the same time he could have done that, he threw a grenade, dashed around a corner, and attempted to scout through the fog for the enemy, all within that time frame. (Again, though, lacking spatial awareness is the reason this happened. It's like giving an entire speech in the middle of a fight. It dumbfoundedly breaks spatial awareness and I use that to kill people off.)

Tempest said HALO – Heat and Alternate Light Optics – multi-function goggles with variable channels: Heat-source, low-light/nightvision, or protective film versus flash-bangs and welding torches.

Will be added to R&D later.

Tempest said Micro-torch – Portable torch that can be held in the palm of one's hand with a small tank that can be carried in one's backpack. Meant for quick patch jobs or for cutting through thinner metals.

Maybe. Let me think on it.

Tempest said Insulated Gloves – A simple pair of gloves with grips on them insulated to keep her from accidentally short-circuiting any of her equipment or setting anything off.

? How will insulated gloves... ? I mean they might protect you but how will they stop things from going off?

Tempest said Remote Control Car – Simple remote control vehicle amped up with an extended range, better terrain capabilities and superior speed

No. Either it's not useful or it's trying to nab the robot buddy passive from Pilots. Either way... At least not right now.

Tempest said Toy Grab Bag – Various toys and knick-knacks Georgia carries about with her

Approved, sure. lol

Tempest said Electronic Scraps – Various Electronic scraps that Georgia can rig in a pinch to facilitate whatever needs she might have

Maybe. Yes, tentatively.

Tempest said Wrist-Mounted UI – Bit of like a personal computer. Able to connect to and download information from other computers, tracks ally locations, communicates with Tenzin and allows her to view local maps.

Tenzin?

At least, not right now. Maybe with the next wave of missions. Unless you took this as a unique of some sort.

Brovo, you take all my fun toys away!

But ya, they were just a rushed idea of fun things at like 1 am in the morning. Some were more for everyone than just myself.. IE) HALO, Microtorch, Wristmounted UI were all things I think everyone should have. *shrugs*

Freddie will be something I plan to nab later on, you can bet your ass on it. Do hope HALO gets into R&D *thumbs up*

Dammit, still bummer about no RC car. Now what will I play with in my downtime. *goes to pout in the corner*

Scrap and toybag were going under Georgia's achievement skill she unlocked. Just figured I'd add it under her official item list.

So he's not quite finished, still need to flesh out some fluff items and his bio but for the most part my character is ready.

Name:Edward 'Ned' Lawson
Age: 27
Sex: Male.
Appearance:
History Type:
Australian Backpacker: Coming from the land down under with twisted, more dangerous versions of already dangerous wildlife, your character is a damned fine survivalist, and shows this with a knowledge of various creatures and wildlife a clear cut above that of the average person. They also tend to be better with last second melee weaponry than anyone else, seeing as how many of the creatures on the Australian continent are stealth predators...
(Can typically spot weaknesses in enemies before anyone else can, bonuses to melee weapons, have a slightly better chance at detecting an attempted sneak attack before it occurs.)

Technical Information:

Career Path: Pilot-Grunt Multi-Class.

Mech:
Designation: Dingo QAM-B3
Size: Small.
Occupants: One.
General Description: Unlike the standard Bipedal mechs used by Bunker Chicago the Dingo is a quadruped design. The Torso is horizontal with a turret mounted on the top and a 'forward section' contains the scanners, holds the joints for the front legs and has a weapon hardpoint. It stands about 10 meters tall including its turret and is approximately 17 meters in length.

Liam Grillod Modifications and Improvements

Added Weapon Modification: LAS-Mod

Custom Modification - Breezy Cartridges: Thanks to what essentially boils down as having bored holes into strategic points of his rifle, and the addition of a coolant system having been installed, Liam's rifle now faces fewer instances of over heating. Allowing him to fire for longer periods of time, and enables a quicker rate of fire as well.

Added Combat Training: Adrenaline Junkie

Upgraded Combat Training: A Soldier's Wrath

Research and Development

1. Alpha
2. Legionaire
3. Shield
4. Mechanical Warhorse
5. Plushie

1. Nanobots
2. Omega
3. Variable Structure
4. Firestarter
5. NTAP 2.0

P.S. Deploy Liam to the Shadow Zone Wing as well please.

We appreciate the input, Brovo 8). I can't say Melonhead's character didn't have it coming, but from what you're telling us, Brovo, I get the sense that you found Melonhead's actions worse than useless. It's a damn shame because prior to Chris' death, not only did I forward multiple PMs Melonhead's way, but I emphasized pointers regarding the Shadow Zone Fog, the Wolves potentially threatening Brucey or Daniel, the mutant tower, combined arms overlapping fire, the dangers of moving alone as well as listing all the major threats that could have ripped Chris to shreads; Limey you can vouch for me on this one because I sent you messages as well, outlining what I saw could potentially benefit as well as harm Southwest Sector's existing squad. Of course, Melonhead ignored me and did the exact opposite of what I advised and eventually, his character basically ate a rumbling chainsaw 8P. I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all because I'll admit; I'm not entirely well versed in infantry-tactics, but ... I did try to give Melonhead my honest two-cents.

In the near future, I can only pray I haven't or won't execute anything comparable to Melonhead because being stupid and alone in the Shadow Zone or wastelands without buddies, backup, or sound tactical decisions would almost gaurantee me shitting my pants. In fact, the moment I noticed that Peter was dropping into Battlezone: Downtown Chicago's Southeast Sector; alone; I already almost shit my pants =_=.

@GourmetItalia: Your Manifest Destiny pick is approved. It can be changed later if technology upgrades make it irrelevant.

It is.

@Gat: Finish the biography and I could approve this.

@Icarus: Breezy Cartridges approved and oooh, a LAS-MOD.

A Soldier's Wrath
--Rampage (Rank 2): When an ally is hit, this character now gains an accuracy bonus against the opposing target both for his reaction shot and for the next post. If an ally (named NPC or PC) is incapacitated, badly injured, or slain outright, this character enters into a battle fervour that renders them immune to panic and greatly increases resistance against psychic assaults until the target which harmed their friend retreats from the field of battle or is slain.
I can tell the X-Com Players apart from everyone else on the tech votes. The X-Commies are rushing for nanos and power suits. Getting some nasty flashbacks are we?

Voting is over now. The results are in.

Development
#1: Shield. (Will be ready by the next wave of missions.)
#2: Mechanical Warhorse. (Will be ready by the next wave of missions.)
#3: Legionaire. (Project started but not fully funded.)
#4: Alpha. (Insufficient scrap to spare. Project on hold.)
#5: Plushie. (Insufficient scrap to spare. Project on hold.)

Research
#1: Nano. (Will be ready for development by the next wave of missions.)
#2: Fire Starter. (Will be ready for development by the next wave of missions.)
#3: Variable Structure. (Partially funded.)
#4: Omega. (Insufficient Research.)
#5: NTAP 2.0. (Insufficient Research.)

Missions Starting: Tuesday. The reason for the delay is partially because of The BadgerMoth Saga I've started in Spam and partially because my brain is all scattered and frazzled.
GourmetItalia said I don't mean to sound like a know-it-all because I'll admit; I'm not entirely well versed in infantry-tactics, but ... I try to give Melonhead my honest two-cents. HA! Don't worry about it. I don't expect people to be masters of military tactics, that's asking too much, but some common sense goes a long way. Like recognizing basic attributes: Mechs have a lot of armour. Infantry don't.

Raen Elvarasi said Well, hey, I found it funny. And Brovo, the most relative thing it would fall under is basic common sense, I believe. XD *Reminisces on all the times of blindly dashing around a corner into a Sectopod* So, yeah...Sometimes slow and steady loses the race when it comes to how fast you die.

Yeah.

PS: This is why Snipers have sensor pods. ;)
EDIT

Check out NPC placement and updated mission rosters.

Good News: NPC's I feel were placed very well. Derek isn't listed because he can go anywhere at will anyway.

Bad News: Shadow Zone is understaffed and Retrieval has no NPC support. Fuck up once in Retrieval and you will probably die.
