Grade like rank? or grade like school grade? I'm a Corporal in the reserves, but I'm technically a cadet, because I'm doing senior level ROTC in college so I can get out as an Officer,

But I've done basic training, I go on field exercises with my reserve unit, the whole 9 yards

Oh no, why would you want to go to the dark side? Just don't be one of those butter bars who think they're God's gift to the world and needs to be slapped around by a salty NCO and then left to the E-4 mafia; It never ends well.

Hey, an extra 12 grand a year just starting out is plenty of incentive, its taken me three years to get to E-4, another year in college to get my butter bar and im getting bumped up to the tune of 35k a year.

lol, and no, if I ever started getting high and mighty, my mentor would likely kick the shit out of me in front of my entire platoon

Hi all. I just wanted to let everyone know that I'm not dead and that I'm still working on revising my first character. It's taking a while due to my workload, but that's easing up, so I should have it done tonight or tomorrow.

Also, thanks vietmyke and Feisty-Pants for your service! :D

Haha, it wouldn't take you so long to get promoted if you'd join the real army. I'm a five year E-6 and still spent two years in the reserves before going active, though I'm in a notoriously quick promoting MOS. But still, get as much specialized training as you can before you commission, especially if your current MOS is related to the branch you want to get into as an officer. (I'm sure you've heard this about a billion times before, but I couldn't help it.)

Oh, and I like the way your mentor thinks. :D

Meh, when I'm on the field doing army stuff, I carry 2 canteens each holding about a quart, neither of which are particularly heavy or burdensome at all. So at any one time I'm carrying half a gallon, I imagine that would be enough to do some basic, emergency maneuvers, or like... make a water whip.Edit: I think half a gallon is only something like 4 pounds

This is true. Back when I used to go backpacking a lot, it wasn't uncommon to carry a gallon or two, depending on distance and availability of water. At the same time though, it might be a tad inconvenient. We'll see though.

I'm about as much of a civilian as it's possible to be; though I am presently stationed in the Gulf.

Yeah. It came as a surprise for a lot of people. Salty was a bit surprised when I told him years ago. (I was only an E-3 back then.)

@ Genshal. I was uncertain exactly where you wanted your character to start, so I left it rather open.

@ Headphones. I need to do a collaboration with you between the Archmage and Skye.

@ Everyone, if you want to, feel free to do collabs with me at any time.
