HISTORY:
Erik Brindley, a deep colonist, was born on the small, harsh colony of Lunia, a world near the center of its solar system covered with makeshift cities and brutal deserts. He was born in the core city of New Ivory, the capital city on Lunia. His father worked in a factory for a crappy but liveable wage, his mother was unemployed like many others in the city, she spent her time caring for Erik and his sister, Jacqueline.
Erik and his sister were troublemakers, though they never did anything really serious, they often pickpocketed others, though they tended to target the better off people, stealing from the poor was pointless. Erik planned to leave Lunia as quickly as he could, but these plans were halted by several events which occurred.
Towards the end of his schooling, Erik's mother was killed by an unknown assailant, though Erik himself believed it was some strung out druggy who tried to mug his mother in order to get money to feed his disgusting habit. The police, who were very incompetent and corrupt never found the murderer, which still angers Erik to this day, as he just wanted to find the sick man who could take his caring mother's life, she had done nothing wrong, she only wanted to raise her kids and find happiness on an unhappy world.
Erik took care of his sister more, as their father grew terribly depressed after his wife's death, he seemed to be disconnected with his two children, which caused concern in both of them. Their concerns were right as soon after both of them had finished school, their father took his own life through hanging. Erik never blamed his father for going out the way he did, he could tell his father was at peace with his decision, knowing that his two children were at the point where they could care for themselves, the man missed his wife so much, he wasn't the same person without her.
Erik enlisted shortly after leaving Lumia at the age of 20, his sister and him drifting apart. The last words she told him were thay she going to become a nurse, help the needy and sick. He hasn't spoken to her since then, and he'd like to make contact with her once more. Maybe after the mission, well, if he survives.
Erik's enlistment was the right idea as he distinguished himself as a skilled soldier, especially as an explosive expert within the military. If someone needed a bomb placed, Erik knew exactly the right one to choose, where to place it and the distance they needed to retreat to avoid being blown away along with the explosive.
He spent nine years in the military, doing whatever he was asked, fighting in several battles and gaining a new view on things along the way. After a short shore leave, he received a request to join an elite crew meeting on Sycamore. He left for the planet immediately, interested in what it was really about.
