Question about multiple accounts.

Hi there, I'm 71342. I wanted to ask about using multiple accounts in a roleplay thread, specifically using it to support your own opinions that you posted on one account (and supporting it with the other).

Like for, put crudely, being an ass and making it sound like everyone agrees with your (not your, the reader, but the user who does that) behaviour. Or harassment.

Is it legal here in Roleplayerguild? I know it might be silly to some to ask this but I just wanted to make sure, a roleplay I joined might have this issue and I'm asking in case this person gets out of hand.

Fairly certain is isn't, though I could be mistaken. Highly doubtful it's okay though.
(I'm just going with RPG's time-old rule of "Be Fonz-cool" here)

I'd let a mod know about your suspicions if you think this is what's going on in your RP. Would you mind linking the RP in question, just so we have more to go off than your word for it?
I'm not a mod by the way, in the event that I sounded more like one than I thought

Ah, sockpuppetry. My old nemesis. Well, looked at what I suspect the rp in question is and, granted, it's not unusual if they are two separate people. I have a friend on the guild who frequently recruits me via skype and he forgets to tell other people he did so. So the situation isn't implausible.

That all said, I can't find the Terms and Conditions to prove whether or not it's even allowed on the site but, if you suspect it to be the case, best to drop out before you invest a lot of effort. If it is the case, you dodge a bullet (since no one EVER makes a sockpuppet with good intentions) and leave the rp to collapse over the fact it's essentially a one-person story. If it turns out not to be the case, well, sounds like you're not going to have the best time anyhow if they make you suspect sockpuppetry is going on. Sad but true.

Yeah I'd let a mod know about it so they can check the IP addresses and origin of each message sent!

I'd like to keep this a low profile though so I can't send you the link, it's one of the roleplays I recently joined and I don't want to accuse until I've gotten more evidence (aka, the person starts using his other account and acting like an ass again).

Your input was valuable and it really helps. :) Btw is that a yugioh card in your icon? I remember something like it!

Yeah I'm not having a good time, basically this game starter is very rude and behaves badly, but plays it off as his 'co-gm' so people don't immediately leave his game because of him.

I'm fairly certain of it because I went through the list of games they've joined from the beginning till now and their/his behaviour has never changed. They were always mostly the same games too.

He's basically trying to play it off this way for all the roleplay matters and it irks me. I'm on the verge of dropping out because of this and will surely report him when I do, but... you know society has brain-washed us into giving second chances. Even to the most condemned. :P

I wanted to clarify this matter so that the staff of this site don't laugh at me when I do. You two helped confIrm my doubts though! :)

I was going to say that multi-accounts were never allowed.

But then I remembered that I technically have two accounts.
I just never touch the second cause I had made it and then instantly went "I don't want this name again" and made a new one.

Then I also remembered people I RP'ed with who in other RP's used multiple accounts to help represent different RP characters.

But in regards to simply spamming threads with false agreement/validation?
No... that's easily ban worthy.

Much consideration, you three are right. I'm not going to enjoy the game anyway with this sockpuppetting going on behind the scenes, regardless of what happens. I'm going to report what I suspect to heyseuss, one of the mods. Tnks guys.

I can't say with full certainty, but I remember somewhere that it was said that one could have up to five accounts since people with a large group RP like to have an account for the RP itself that all the GMs can access. Though, like stated, I can't say with full certainty. Might want to ask a mod or admin just to be completely sure on this matter.
