I still don't know what I want to do. I wanted to be an elementary school teacher but they are laying off teachers like crazy here. I was thinking of being a phsycologist but still not sure if that is the right job for me. I won't be doing in home care for much longer but I still wish I could figure out what is right for me

@Akayaofthemoon We've got way too many elementary and high school teachers in Ontario (and Canada in general minus Nunavut) but I don't think I could even handle teaching kids or god forbid teenagers anyways. Plus I'm very scared that I'd end up really hurting a kid due to my own childhood upbringing, because I'm already starting to notice lapses around kids. It's quite terrible really and it's definitely something I need to work on, but yeah, never around kids. Especially young kids. Won't ever adopt kids either. Dear god I would never wish any kid to find themselves under my care as a parent completely responsible for their being. Never ever ever. Seriously, never.

Psychology is something I've considered as well as being a social worker but after further research on the careers I'm not sure that's what I want either. Being a professor (most likely in some social science but also possibly in a language or 'science' science field) is the closest fit I can find other than writing (which I definitely still need work on especially since I've been holding off writing for a while now and thought of maybe taking up roleplaying again to sort of get the feel back) but it's incredibly hard to make a living off writing, so that's something I kind of have to do on the side. I wish there was some magical way to figure out what was right for us but unfortunately there isn't.

My family and everyone says I am too nurturing and kids flock to me so they have always wanted me in a career with children. I am very good with them and though I'm childish, I can step up and be responsible with ease. I look at all points of an argument and see it from all sides. I don't give advice without thinking the possiblities through.

I think I would be good with children and I honestly can wait until I am in a better financial place to have kids. I think I could be a good mother

As for being a psychologist, I am good at advice and always love to help so I might be good at it. I volunteered as a social services and I found I could never be a social worker. It is too hard. You place kids in homes but you also have to rip them away even if it is a good family. I couldn't do that

Kids seem to like me and I (mostly) like kids as well, it's just that there's no way in hell I can trust myself around them, which is why I can't ever have a career centered around them nor have them myself, both also being things I don't desire as well as things I could never trust myself with. Especially not the latter. Never. I can definitely see you as the motherly type, though, and think you'd be a good mother from what I have seen from you.

There are various reasons as to why I couldn't be a psychologist or social worker, but ye. Anyways, whatever we both do happen to do in the future Akaya, I just hope it works out well for us and those around us.

You and me both. Only the future knows what it is going to hold for me and for now I am just going to take it each day at a time ^-^
