Hmm. Can't say it rolls off the tongue.

Anyway, in playing around with pronouncing Volkimir's name, myself, I got around to recording a bit of his dialogue. I consider myself something of an ameteur voice actor, so this was fun. Forgive my mic quality; still shopping for a better one.

Actually edited the post. So it's a bit different, not by much though.

If you heard someone say it, it might come off differently to you. In fact, since you so handily just handed me the tool to allow you to hear it being said.

Here. It rolls off the tongue if you know how to say it. It's the amount of vowels next to eachother that confuses the brain into thinking that the mouth would have trouble saying the name(s). Entirely understandable though, considering. I'm just used to my own names so I know how to pronounce them. Plus...phonetics are useful :P

But jokes aside, I didn't expect Volkimir to sound like that. For some reason, I expected stereotypical, German, vampire voice. Go you! Maybe I should do some singing for Altim?

Also, I sent a message to Transience to update him on stuff that happened this weekend, hopefully enough that he can easily catch up when he returns. Will try to clear up some of the lore business, our policy moving forward, and whatnot.

Here I thought that I was playing up the typical sort of Bela Lugosi Eastern-European dialect. Ah well, makes little difference. Just needed to be deep and dark and rumbly. Which as it happens, is basically the only voice that I can do.

I'm hoping I don't need to help people pronounce The Green Knight, although I was tempted to go with the Finnish spelling of Vihreä Ritari just to spice things up.

Gotta' love the Finns and their love of using so many consonants or vowels that it hurts.

Thinking of names, languages or rather languages that actually make linguistic sense are probably some of the hardest things to create for an RP. However, I'm happy to leave creating fictional languages to linguistics majors with too much time on their hands.

@Vigfast: Ugh, tell me about it. Cynderian is still in the works. At this point, I'm just going to start working on morphology, morphosyntax, and what have you. Creating a script this early into the conlanging process is just downright annoying. screw the alphabet

@Dead Cruiser That was pretty good voice acting, though I will admit that I feel like... the character should have a bit more emotion behind his words. Especially at the end, he really didn't sound that angry to me? Could just be me though. :p

I feel your pain, I've only ventured to discuss linguistics with a linguist researcher once or twice and it was not conductive to my sanity.
