So, if you don't know me, I recently came back from a 2-year hiatus from RP-ing, and I'm looking to get back in the game! Unfortunately, my skills are currently quite a bit rusty... Which is why I thought it would be best to start out with a basic, open RP!

Basically, everyone who joins would play a student (or teacher, if desired) at the school. We'll begin on the first day of classes for the new school year... There can be romance/sex, sports/club rivalries, fights/violence, people from different backgrounds all thrown into the same crazy environment of high school. Your character could be any age, from freshmen to seniors... They could have a disability, or come from an extremely rich/poor family, or maybe be in the student council or whatnot... Honestly, the only rules would be that your character can only be in classes with people who are in the same grade, original characters only, no power-playing, and everything needs to be kept PG-13. We could also discuss whether or not this universe includes magic/special skills or not.

Who would be interested in an RP like this? :) I know it's pretty vague with no real set story, but I love RPs like this... They leave a lot of room for creativity and exploration, as well as an opportunity to develop characters (maybe for use in other RPs). I know that I have some old characters I would love to grow, a bit!

I'm interested in a magic/special skills high school, but that pushes the boundaries of your average normal high school setting... Unless you meant "Just your average, everyday High School roleplay" in an ironic "Totally inconspicuous, DEFINITELY NOT A MAGIC NINJA SCHOOL Roleplay". Unless it's both? Maybe it's a completely normal High school that certain teachers gather at night to secretly teach super-skills to the students they deem worthy/the students that solve a certain amount of secret challenges/Whoever finds their ad in the paper?

Although, to assume an of these would certainly steer the story in a certain direction early on... Perhaps it's best that I skidaddle and stop assing about?

@Sombrero Hmm... I don't think I would want to steer the RP in any certain direction early on. I've decided no magic/special abilities for now, but if there is an overwhelming desire in the group for something of that nature, then it can definitely be added in. :)

For now, here is the RP page:

A'ight, then I'll sit back and watch things unfold a while. I don't have any "normal" normal characters in mind right now, and I wouldn't want to spoil any potential normal story plans by bringing in wishful energies. Best you get that overwhelming desire or lack thereof from the group with no say in part from the random passing lurker.

I'm not sure I'm in my right mind presently; I may come to regret this post.

@Sombrero Awwh, no regrets haha! I definitely understand where you are coming from! Magic would be super cool in a school setting. My only hesitation is that last time I did an RP like this, allowing magic ended in everybody having pointless fights with no backstory or plot, because they all became super focused on the powers, and that is more of an arena-style RP. ^^" Which is why I'd rather introduce magic or powers after the plots are set in place, y'know? It makes the abilities more meaningful. :)

Applications are always open, so feel free to lurk as much as you want and jump in if you're ever interested!

That's why magic and such is best taught in a sort of specific apprenticeship program. A school for wizards/mages is too open ended. You have to have multiple classes (as in Infiltration 101, Illusions, etc.) for different classes (as in Warrior, Bard, etc.) in the same setting, so that people have to learn the basics of many different things and have to spend a long time earning their abilities as opposed to playing around with the things they can do with them because they already know their stuff early on. The Karate Kid started out with days' worth of household chores for a reason!

Then again, the more aspects of an adventuring life you teach, the more likely you're stepping into "Too much fantasy/story direction too fast!" territory.
