... @Sarge Would a Human-Replica Droid be allowed? (Guri being a popular example.)...

EDIT: If you're not for the Human-Replica Droid idea, I do have an idea for a Trandoshan hunter-turned-Rebel....a more...traditional type >:)

Seems like the sort of thing which would be a little difficult to pull off. If it's disguising itself as a human, surely its disguise would be seen through as soon as it engaged in any physical exercise and was able to run for 10km without breaking a sweat, or punch a fellow trainee so hard they fracture their arm in fourteen places. And if it's not disguised as a human (i.e. The rebels know it's a droid) then I imagine they'd be able to find a better use for it than sending it through basic training.

And indeed, I can't think why a droid would need to go through basic training when you can just upload combat protocols directly into their brain.

My challenge to you, therefore, is that if you want to play as a human-replica droid you're going to have to include in your CS a very good explanation as to why it is where it is and why it's doing what it's doing. If you're not confident that you can, I'll allow you to upload a second CS alongside it if you like and I'll consider both of them.

@Apoalo: CS looks fine, as one ex-Imp to another.

@CorruptedShadow: Interesting CS. And it'd be funny to see how Kelim would react to Luke Skywalker if he happened to see a random Rebel pilot wandering around with a lightsaber hanging from his belt.

I'd say he'd act like a kid and tried to talk to him like a huge fan or something. Maybe try and inspect the lightsaber, ask him to do "the Force thing" or whatever.

Bear in mind that not many people know Luke is a jedi-in-training yet. In fact it's another three years until Ben's appears to him and tells him where to find Yoda (not sure what the fuck Obi-Wan is doing for the three years between New Hope and Empire. Presumably getting himself a piece of Aayla Secura's sweet force ghost ass?)

As far as I can tell, canonically up until this point he's just been flying for Rogue Squadron, though it seems the new series of comics goes into some of the training he did before going to Dagobah to train with Yoda in Episode V. I might give them a look at some point.

Yeah, I know. And he had some training moments and adventures where he used his lightsaber often, but they were mostly just specific situations as far as I can remember. Still, the first thing you think of when you see someone has a lightsaber is a Jedi or a Sith, so Kelim'tel can really only assume.

@Sarge He does go looking for temples and does a little training (I am upto date on my NuCanon). Sorry to drop in, not thinking of joining (Not a fan of academies, just lurking).

Also when it came to Jedi most people felt it was just Propoganda and that he was actually just lucky, need to remember a lot of people don't know what a Jedi is these days thanks to Palps wiping out almost all mention of them.

@Ghost Shadow Cool CS. Guess you decided against the droid then?
@Sep Thanks for taking an interest, even if you're not thinking of joining!

I'm currently reading Twilight Company, so my interest was piqued but sadly I'm not an academy kinda guy.

@Sarge Well, I came here from another Star Wars RP that's currently going through a missing-GM crisis :P I already made a Droid character there, so I figured I'd rather be a bit diverse just in case that one picks back up again XD

Well, the Academy part is only the first part of the storyline. The idea is to put the recruits through basic training and follow their story through to ending up on actual battlegrounds. Perhaps if the RP lasts that long you might be more interested when we get to that part. I only chose the title 'Rebel Academy' because it seemed to fit, but I guess 'Rebel Boot Camp' might have been more appropriate.

Well, I presume this revolves around the Special Forces then? Them being the only units to recieve any real formal training. Most trained as part of their unit and quite often ended up in combat zones pretty early.

Not quite Special Forces, no, but I'm thinking since the Rebels didn't exactly have a massive number of soldiers compared to the Empire they'd want to train up the ones they do have as much as possible. And yes, they will be training as a unit and then shipping out together fairly quickly. IC I'm thinking their training will only last a few weeks (although depending on how quickly people post, that could take us a month or two to get through).

I suppose different units will do things in different ways.

I'll wait to see when it comes to combat, I'm always interested in doing the nitty gritty of the Galactic Civil War.

Though training scenarios rarely work effectively from what I've seen.

As a SW buff I shall keep an eye on this, and jump in now and then to assist if necessary but won't actually join... at least not yet.

To anyone who expressed interest in either of the Interest Checks but hasn't yet posted a CS, I said I wanted to be making my decision on who's in tomorrow night, so here it is:

You have 24 hours to post a CS before I'm closing recruitment!

At some time after 00:00 GMT tomorrow (possibly as late as the morning, depending on how tired I am) I will announce who made the cut and start the IC thread going.
You have been warned!

I'm still here. Having difficulty coming up with a character I like though. We'll see how things go tomorrow, and I may have a sheet up.

Also, it might be a good idea to PM everyone who expressed interest, as some of them were quite new to the site and possibly don't know an OOC has gone up!

@13sparx13 That CS is a little short, but I understand it's still a rough draft so again I'll wait til the deadline has passed before judging.

@PlantEater Still plenty of time. I'm not going to accept character sheets that I think are sub-par, so after tonight there still might be an opening if we have to start with less than 7 players.
