@PhoenixWhite Indeed. No one knows what happened to him...except me :p. The Remonnets have had two mages in there family. One was a third child who was shipped off to the circle and was discouraged from having children and the other was a king who again didn't have children (what with him disappearing). As a result any magic in the Remonnet bloodline died out with both of them. House Mazeltof and House De Reimer are currently the only two High noble houses that still have something of a magic bloodline (particularly Mazeltof).

@Sundered Echo

I imagine she would be in tier 5 if that is OK with you. Though that may seem low compared to the other people on the chart do remember that it still makes her one of the most powerful mages in all of formaroth.

Given that house De Reimer has also had mages within their family before (and weren't discouraged from having children, unlike most nobles houses) the chances of having another mage on the throne will be higher than most.

The Remonnet's had a mage on the throne once, if I recall correctly. He kinda went 'poof' and disappeared thoughhhh...

But wow, yeah. If Aurelia and Duncan go through with everything then.. Wow, glad they instituted those better-mage-treatment laws, eh?

All part of the plan ;)

I'd thought tier 4 initially, (based on a quick comparison to Drevala Blackwells number and magnitude of skills) though I can see five... Lana's use of magic isn't really innovative, just strong and often.

On another note, looking back over her CS, I think I need to flesh out the present beyond her political studies. Things like what House Thale actually does, what her current magical studies are and how much time she actually has for them (not a lot I expect).

@Sundered Echo The reason Drevala is tier 4 is because she is incredible skilled as a shape shifting (a rare type of magic in it'self. Shape shifting is extremely powerful magic when used correctly (hell Drevala killed a dragon on her own) and the fact that she can use it with such proficiency is why she is so high.

Very good I look forward to reading it.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

As you all know certain elements in this RP are decided by chance (i.e battles, success of a spy, outcome of certain events, etc). However these situations are very few and as a result most of the RP is very story driven with a clear goal/ending in mind for their characters.

What I propose is that we ditch the whole chance based element and have the outcome of events and the direction of the story decided through discussion between us. I want to make this clear; people will still have control of over their character actions and choices and the choices they make will still effect the outcome of the story, but the outcome of these choices will be decided through discussion with each other rather than a roll of a dice.

I simply feel as if this is the best way to continue the RP. After all there is currently a lot of great set up with different characters and their said story lines and I don't want half of them to be suddenly cut short and given disappointing endings because of a unexpected dice roll.

Of course this decision is up to you as well. I would like to hear everyone's opinion on this change to the RP. I am more than happy to continue as we are now if that is what everyone else wants. If you have any questions let me know.

@TheDuncanMorganThanks for the heads up.

I do feel split on the topic of dice rolls. On one hand it's useful as a randomizer, to keep things interesting.

But then again, at times the dice can hinder or go against what makes sense.
However, i really liked the PM you sent with the battle and army statistics prior to beginning the collab with @AndrewCooper.

So i say you keep the stats as a guide-line. If something really ends up like it could go any way a dice roll might be suitable.
But overall i'm for going with a more story driven approach.
While i liked the message prior the collab with the result. I felt a bit confused as to how i would implement the stats i was seeing and how to produce an exciting result for the reader.

So me and Andrew have done some heavy interpretations on the results. Sure, the main result is still the same. But how the battle came to its conclusion is perhaps not what the dice roll says.

So use the dice rolls as a guide-line, but always go with a reasonable outcome over what a number says.

That makes sense with Drevala. Lana may be a decent shape shifter but she cant hold a candle to Drevala's expertise. I'm kinda terrified about the skillsets of the Tier 1 mages o.O

As for dice rolls - decision via discussion is fine by me - 'tis how its done in my other RPs. And of course, if two players still want to decide something between them based on chance, they can always make use of the guild's dice rolling feature.

@Sundered Echo I can summarize the skill-sets of the tier 1 mages with 2 letters: OP :p. Hence why there are only two of them. And the Elven Imperium has six 'tier 1' Mages and 1 mage I would consider 'Tier 0'.

@Sundered Echo

Drevala feels very strongly she doesn't belong in her own skin and has dedicated herself to getting out of it, so she is rather scary with how many creatures and how efficiently she can go between them.

I didn't intend her to be considered an extraordinary mage or a particularly powerful one, but shapeshifting is rather rare and she's, perhaps, the most well versed shapeshifter there is due to her dedication to it.

@TheDuncanMorgan

I feel rather strongly, myself, that discussion about things moreso than dice will lead to more enriched RP and understanding amongst players.

I prefer discussion/pure RP more than dice, but am more than willing to comply to a dice roll if discussion cannot be agreed upon.

Indeed. Drevala most certainly out-does Lana in shape shifting. That said, Lana does enjoy the freedom it grants her, and I think that they might actually be able to relate to a certain extent. Obviously not completely, as Lana is quite happy with her own, human form, but it is still a possible point of relation I'd be keen to explore with them.

As far as deciding between the outcomes for characters and events, I'm on-board with everyone else. I've never really liked the idea of rolling dice to determine outcomes, however, it's fine to generate statistics for battles, that's the only purpose I see fit for it. Such as determining which army has more people, and which one suffers the most losses, other than that, I don't see a need for it.

I like the idea of a discussion, as it would enable us to produce a more rich story-telling experience. I've always been attracted to that side of role playing, so to speak. That's my two cents at least.

Also on a side note I am planning to add some additional members of the De Reimer family, namely two cousin's to make the De Reimer family seem a bit bigger. Afterall it is a major family which currently only has three members.

@PhoenixWhite Any idea when your next post may be up?

@TheDuncanMorgan

I make the six hour ride to college tomorrow morning, meaning I'll be internet-less for six hours (maybe more) and be transitioning into a dorm friday.

And classes start monday.

But uh, when I get through these manly tears of goodbye and settle down expect me to get something up of considerable size (should people throw diplomats at me before I get full focus to write, thus inflating my post size considerably - should I get time to write before then it will be of... Average size, unless inspiration strikes).

That being said I have huge amounts of time in my schedule unless my workload is heavy, which I don't know yet. I have one class a day, mon-fri, and they're all only 1-3 hours in length in the morning- but math is my bane!

Anyway I'm just trying to be thorough so as to avoid my disappearing act again.

Just know I'll have something up soon, mkay?

[more general]
Just arrived at my dorm and moved in, everything up here [in these mountains] is so drastically different than back home [by the ocean] and I honestly am just kinda overwhelmed by the change and how beautiful the scenery is.

Once I get settled in a bit more I'll set aside some time to write up [not rushing, just giving you guys affirmation that I'll get something up]

The post I got up just now was mostly a 'maintenance and updates to be made from the assassination to catch up to the current day' type thing, to update the family. Nothing really special but I wanted to do something to progress the 'round', as it were.

I had my first class today, and later today I have my first 'Introduction to Programming' course, which is exciting for me as I intend to major in computer science [systems] and this is one of the first steps towards that.

Allow me to nerd out in anxiety about that briefly, then go on with your days-
