All around, I think the character is fine, the way you did the personality was interesting, and the idea of a very apathetic medic as opposed to a compassionate one is interesting. The sadism was unexpected, but interesting. His gear picks are fine too, not too surprised that no one picked up an assault rifle, but its all fine.

A bit of a nitpick, but how is a soldier who's 6'1" only 150 lbs? I'm 6'2", and rather skinny and scrawny and I stand in at 168 lbs, never mind a well muscled soldier.

She seems a bit the typical lone-wolf sniper, but I'm gonna trust that you're not gonna play her as an antisocial character. Nothing seems wrong with her background, and I have no complaints about it.

As far as her loadout, is there any reason Niella operates with two long ranged weapons instead of a long range and a close quarters weapon for personal defense? Not saying you need to change it, but it seems a little unnecessary to carry 2 long ranged weapons, though admittedly one is more mobile than the other. 

Other then that, there's nothing really to mention, all round good character.

So, is Berne a squad leader? Or just an attached asset?

Other then that clarification, I see nothing particularly wrong with this character, a far cry from the average boots on the ground, gung-ho infantryman, but not necessarily in a bad way.

First and most important, I am definitely not okay with Belman knowing about the existence of the Covenant and aliens. That is an absolute no, the first appearance of aliens in this RP is to be a massive shock and someone potentially blabbing about the existence of aliens is not okay. Other then that, the loadout, personality etc is okay.

@Treue
So, I know what you're getting at with the whole callsign "Steel-Fist" because, you know, she has steel fists. But that's a bit of a mouthful and sounds like a name someone would give themselves to sound badass. It's more likely someone in the squad would've jokingly named her "Cogs" or "Robo", or something short and easy to call out.

Also, the amount of weapons she's carrying is a bit excessive, I'd generally try to limit the loadout to a primary, secondary, and a sidearm.

@vietmyke Awesome - my character's age and rank simply seemed like a natural progression (also, playing characters older allows for a more nuanced backstory) - I figured special forces tend to be towards the twilight end of the maturity spectrum. My only concern was that, since you're the GM, it'll be far easier for you to direct the story if you take on that roll, , but if you feel that making him the squad leader is appropriate, then I'm all up for that.

Anyway, I'm really looking forward to you getting an IC thread up - I'd love to get started ASAP!

@TTNoobs Aye, its something I've always been struggling to balance. Being the squad leader is more efficient for me as a GM, because it allows me to more easily lead the RP in the necessary direction, but at the same time it lends itself to railroading. 

On the other hand, having another player as a squad leader makes it relatively harder to lead the RP, but also opens up another layer of complexity for that particular player, gives a sense of responsibility, and allows for more interaction. It also makes the RP more individual, because instead of me making each and every choice, I get to react and build off of the decisions a different person makes

I usually end up having my character play a sub-leader, so he can still influence the group, without taking full charge.

Anyway, I give you a choice Noobs, you can take squad leader, or I can. Either is fine by me.

The reason, I had her two rifles - one is a sniper and the other a DMR. She is a Sniper at that, so she has zero reason to close range and use an SMG or shotgun.

I kept it realistic, as thus she would cover with sniper fire. And if need be, she would use the DMR as a regular rifle. Since, if they were on the move - it could function in medium and long range fire if need be.

I tried to build her up like a true sniper - but I know, it will still end up cliche. xD

@vietmyke I'll go ahead and take the leader role then. I was thinking that the dynamic of having my character subordinate to a man 12-years his junior could stimulate some interesting conflict, but it's a path far too well trodden, and as you kindly said, my character doesn't fit a military-bravo-esque mould so as to be particularly bothered by such an arrangement. If you need to direct the story, you could always have your character split off from the group, get lost, or become insubordinate, or simply PM as to what exactly I need to relay. 

Anyway, glad that's settled. Like I said, really excited, I hope this goes the distance and I look forward to seeing your plans unfold. :)

@TTNoobs It works anyway, the beginning steps of the rp are going to be very subtle instead of kick-down-the-door in-your-face kind of action.

@vietmyke- I updated and changed Jason's history so that it was a sticky grenade from insurrectionists that took his leg instead- No contact with covvies, no knowledge of covvies. ^^ Let me know if it's alright now.

Also, @Treue, it's up to you if you want to take the rookie title or not. <3 I can tweak Jason's stuff a bit to have him a little older, have everything have happened a bit longer ago so that you can have the rookie.

No problem at all. ^^ I'm making the adjustments now- It's only a difference of a year, so it shouldn't have much effect on anything but Jason's experience level- And even then, not much. So we more or less both win. <3
