  • "Psychic" character - Depends on what you mean by psychic. Just remember that every power should have a visual medium.
  • Energy blasts - Sure, seems simple enough.
  • Plasma/fire/lightning elemental - Fire and lightning are fine. Plasma, is a bit iffy. Would be risky even for you character.
  • Maybe telepathy? - I doubt you can have traditional telepathy since you'd need some sort of medium or conduit to transmit your thoughts.
  • Energy constructs as telekinesis? - Like a hand or something? But yeah, that idea sounds alright.
  • Potentially a technology theme, make him a magitech specialist - A mage that specializes in artifacts. Technology and magic don't mix well, but I suppose you could try.
  • Fuzzy on origin, maybe magic cult of some kind on earth? - Like? Cults are kind of illegal in both the magical and human world though.
  • Cult clashes with science/tech theme that "psychic" powers imply - Not sure what to say about this one.
  • Maybe magitech research facility? - Like I said, magic tends to impair technology so they don't function well together.
  • Either way, magical background - Again, not sure what to say about this one.


Just remember to keep your character simple; you can get to the complex stuff during the RP. Everyone's a teenager and basically a novice when it comes to magic.

I don't think what we "need" is a problem in this case. Given growth potential, most bases are likely covered. This doesn't help the indecision, I know, but if you were even slightly leaning towards something and Scio green-lights it, I think you can go for it without worry.

That said, let me be selfish and say technomancy is pretty damn cool.

@Mercurial I mean, those that are purely cultural and tribal in nature may be accepted despite being frowned upon, but most cults are defiant of social norms and function regardless of what society thinks of them. Not something that would appeal to either worlds.

@Scio I mean, some cults hide their nature from the public eye. Aum Shinrikyo, the ones that used Sarin in Japan, were an officially accepted religious group until they pulled off their attacks.

I'm just saying that it doesn't seem like there should be a problem for a character to be a cult member unless the cult was known to be dangerous and that the member was known to be a member of the cult.

@Mercurial Honestly, magic being known to the world was actually a typo that I failed to fix and decided to go with it since most had already created their characters already.

You have a point, but that's probably in the real world, not in the world the RP is set in. A world where magic actually exists and whatnot. Cults have been the culprit of a few devious deeds in the past few years, making the volatile animosity towards magic users, quite worse.

Also, the school would know.

Anyway, that's what I've decided on. In this world, most cults, if not all, are illegal.
