Hey guys, your opinion! In the past I have rejected character ideas that start out as Travelers or with knowledge of magic. My intention is to ensure that all characters both start off on the same plane and have room to develop in their own ways during gameplay. Having too many abilities to start with, I think, stunts growth.
However, given the current circumstances of the plot and the developments so far -- and especially the fact that we'll probably be leaving Cogswall soon -- I'm considering letting characters in that have sigil knowledge and live outside the walls.
Specifically I have at least one potential player in PM that very much would like to join with this sort of character. Said character would have no prior knowledge of the plot, Spook, or of any of the various factions that have come up so far.
i'm game for something like that, sure. the biggest issue i could think of with that is that thus far all information about the world and magic have come from you – so you just gotta make sure everything that this new person comes up with follows your rules, and whatever they contribute fits in with what rules you've already established. other than that, having a character who's not having to learn everything about magic and traveling on the fly might be interesting.
