Sorry for taking so long to get it up, but here's my CS. Hope it's clear and lore-friendly enough. I might go back and make a few edits here and there as I wrote this kind of hastily, but I think the general gist is understandable.

Awesome character! Glad to have our first Rohirric character! I'll just need you to make a few changes.

Firstly, you've mentioned Mirkwood and Dôr-min-Taur as being in Beleriand, which will need editing.

Secondly, it's more to do with your character's backstory. The people of Eorl were described as "...true-hearted, generous in thought and deed; bold but not cruel...". This to me makes me think they wouldn't hold a grudge against an entire line for what one of their ancestors may have done; and they certainly wouldn't have been involved with slavery, even keeping in line with weregild. If you've found a source that says contrary to what I believe, then fair enough - but otherwise, you'll have to change it. Perhaps turn the contempt of everyone into two specific family's that hate one another? Constantly battling, in competition, etc. This seems to be a more likely occurrence than everyone disliking the family because of a falling out with a dead King long ago. The slavery however, can't stay.

Other than that, he's wonderful! Once you make your changes, I'll be looking forward to seeing him in the IC. :)

@MiddleEarthRoze Sorry about the Mirkwood/Beleriand mixup, I must've just misread something (wrote it late at night lol).

As for the backstory thing, I see what you mean. I just thought that someone who would probably have figured so prominently in the whole "myth" of the War of the Ring (from the Rohirrim's perspective) and who was so close to the future king, to get shunned in such a big way and yet still to have a place of prominence in popular culture and consciousness might have stuck to Éothain's line a bit more readily than if it had been a different family; basically I'm trying to say that even good-natured people can be two-faced. Perhaps it could be that some son of Eorl reinforced the prejudice, and it just turned into a feud between the house of Eorl (which I'm assuming would still be the royal house in the Fourth Age) and the line of Éothain? Hopefully all of what I just said makes sense lol. I see your point though, I'll see if I can finesse it so that it makes a bit more sense.

As for the slavery thing, sorry for that, I didn't draw that from any source or anything. Would saying "servant" be more appropriate?

I'll go ahead and start making the changes you requested ASAP

EDIT: I did a bit of retooling and rephrasing to make it fit in with the changes, hope it works!

Those edits are perfect! The continued feud between the line of Éothain and Eorl would certainly put off others from being true friends with the former. And servant is fine - chances are some of her coin would go towards paying off the debt her son incurred, so that works wonderfully. Húldas is accepted; you can move him into the character tab, and post at your own pleasure!

Quick question @MiddleEarthRoze, what Elvish language is being spoken in your post? Is it Quenya?

Sindarin. It was easier to translate from the resources I found online, simply because it's a more developed language. In the lore, however, Quenya wasn't really used much in day-to-day conversation, as it was so old. It was reserved for ceremonies, old songs and tales of elvish history. Someone who wasn't an Elf or of the Dúnedain likely wouldn't know Quenya, barring words that had transferred between it and the Sindar tongue.

Thanks, wasn't sure about the distinction and couldn't find a helpful explanation online. I will just use Sindarin then. Húldas' father's epithet is "Elftongue" so he's been educated in the language and at least conversational

Yeah, online sources can be confusing haha. And I thought he'd know Sindarin because of his father - he can be as fluent as you'd like though, it wouldn't be out of the ordinary for him to be well-versed in it. I would assume this anyway, but does he also know Westron? I would imagine most of the people in Rohan would learn it, what with being the most popular language of men, but it doesn't hurt to check first. :)

I hadn't really thought of that, lol. But I'd assume he does speak Westron, because I mentioned in the CS that he went to Gondor to get information on the colony, whiiiccchhhh I'll just say means he has a working, conversational knowledge of the language. I think it'd be fun though if he had a little bit of an accent, and if Westron came to him a bit more slowly than does Sindarin. Maybe pops liked to just speak Sindarin and Rohirric at home so he's more fluid with those :P

Haha, that would be awesome! Would certainly make for some interesting interactions when language barriers come up.

Rather than make you guys wait for me to cross Adelard over for one of his posts, I've just done another one for Elennina. @Fernstone Adelard will be finished and posted for by the time you want to do another Hobbit post, so there'll be nothing to worry about. :)

@MiddleEarthRoze That's fine! I should probably throw Lhindel in first anyway. I'll start working on a post for him anyway, and I can do the hobbits after that. Robin would probably just pop off and collect the others anyway

Ah, there's just the one Hobbit in the clearing at the moment. His two friends are waiting behind while he scouted ahead. :)
