Thematically it does! Just shoot for a fleshed out character, not a zealous caricature of a religious person (one of my pet peeves). Like he can convince himself vigilante justice is the only godly option left, but I'm not sure about literally hearing voices.

I've always been interested in this setting but never tried my hand at it. Would a wizard operating as a fence/black market for criminals while maintaining an artifact/antique shop be acceptable?

Yep. But a wizard in this setting wouldnt be someone who throws fireballs out of their hands. Magic would be more subdued and indirect.

I guess for aesthetic reasons we'd want magic to be mostly 'off screen' and alluded to, and since the setting is horror-ish ritualistic and creepy.
