Flynn Jenkins

Location: Stargate Command(Briefing room)

The briefing room of the Stargate Command was a rather ordinary place for a military complex. It had a big table where briefing and debriefings were done and Flynn had taken seat at this table many times. The office of the General George S. Hammond was connected to it as always. The place was already lit up, briefing folders were placed at each seat and the general was waiting on his seat as Flynn arrived first. This was the first time that SG-17 was heading on a mission since the team was reformed after the loss of the team. Flynn was temporary placed as a Team Leader because he was the most experienced soldier from the new team with quite a few missions for the SGC. He entered the briefing room and saluted. The rest of his team should be arriving any time now. He was assigned with 2 nerds and anther soldier so the team was quite balanced. It made for a nice exploratory team." General Hammond." He said with a smile.

"It's alright Captain, you can skip the formalities." The general stated and gestured for him to take a seat." I take it you've already spoken with your team? I know this was a little bit of a sudden gathering, but we've been pressed for action sooner than expected." Hammond stated and Flynn quickly took his seat, opened the briefing folder and gave it a quick read over. He raised an eyebrow in a manner similar to another member of the SGC who wore a jaffa sign on his forehead." We shall wait for the rest of your team to arrive and take their seats first, Captain." Hammond added.

"Of course, General." Flynn stated, running the details he was seeing here. This was about to get interresting and he sure as hell hoped his team was ready for what was about to happen from now on. There was no time for training wheels here it seemed. They were going to be moving on a mission mere days after being assigned as a team together.

The general waited until all the team members had arrived before her started the briefing speech." Alright, I know that this may be a little bit sudden for you all to start working as a team, but I have utmost confidence in the abilities of all four of you. As members of this program you are among the best and brightest humanity has to offer. In the past we've send SG teams with even less time to learn and train as a team, so I'm sure you all will do a perfect job." Hammond stated and gestured for them to open the folders." For this mission SG-17 will be heading to P7Y-496. An mining world under the control of the Goa'uld Baal. The world's supply of naquadah has been depleted for centuries so the world is considered abandoned by goa'uld forces. You can expect minimal resistance if any." Hammond stated with serious voice." As we all know, Baal is responsible for the capture of Colonel Jack O'Neill. The task you're going to have at hand is contact a spy in Baal's forces. A Tok'Ra agent should be there to provide you with supposed crucial for our operations intel. We all know that the incident with Colonel O'Neill happened because of the Tok'Ra and they are aware of it too. This has put a strain on our relationships, but as things stand, the Tok'Ra need us more than we need them, so we can take this as an olive branch or redemption." The general explained and opened his own folder." The Tok'Ra you will be meeting there is named Kahlan. They will approach you when you arrive. To be sure of their identity, you will ask the other party if They've found Egeria. They should reply with 'Her light forever guides our path'. Apparently the Tok'Ra is in good position within Baal's forces so they cannot leave for long without reason, but they've arranged for this visit under the guise of finding new naquadah vein. The news are fake of course, so the window of opporunity is narrow. You leave right away and have exactly till tomorrow to meet up with the contact there. Staying any longer could lead to troubles. If any of Baal's real forces show up, you're to abandon the mission and return right away. We cannot risk exposing this Tok'Ra." Hammond finished his speech and looked at the team." Any questions?"

Cassandra Reed

Location: SGC Briefing Room

Cassandra hadn't been at the SGC for very long, maybe a few days at least to get herself situated in the new base after being approached by some American airmen and then a meeting with a senator later. She walked into the control room and stopped for a moment seeing the gate for a second time. She was then directed by one of the scientists where the briefing room was located, as she headed up the flight of stairs and then stopped for a moment. "Hello there." Cassandra said towards the two of them as she walked over and took a seat across from Flynn and leaned back in the seat.

Cassandra listened in as General Hammond started the briefing of the mission that was ahead of them, she hadn't read to many reports really but read the ones she could when she had the time to. When Hammond then asked them if they had any sort of questions, she looked around at the group before raising her hand. "Just one really, say things get really bad and we are cut off from the gate, or captured?" Cassandra asked.

Evan Bellamy

Location: Briefing room

Evan had only arrived at the SGC a few days ago and he still struggled at believing he was here. He would be lying if he had never thought about the possibility of aliens existing, of other habitable planets existing out there, but it was a quite different story to be hired by a command who wanted him to go explore and maybe even fight on those planets. He had been bored out his mind from his previous assignment, so he was not about to complain about this one. There was a meeting scheduled in the briefing room with his new team and General Hammond. He made his way there quickly, trying to not get lost in the maze that was the SGC. He couldn’t arrive late to their first meeting.

When the Bellamy was finally climbing the stairs leading to the briefing room, his eyes met the General’s immediately. Evan saluted and waited for dismissal to take his seat. His Captain and one of the scientists were already seated at the long table. When the last member of the team arrived, General Hammond explained their mission. Evan paid close attention to everything he said, taking mental notes of the most important information. He was about to answer that he had no questions when Reed asked about the potential of being captured. It would be interesting to be in a team with two non-military people. They didn’t have the same training Jenkins and him had. Frowning slightly, Evan turned his attention back to the General, wondering how he would answer. To him, the solution was clear, they would establish a point of meeting near the gate, but hidden from view, and they would try to regroup there if anything turned sour.

Crystal Hanson

Location: Briefing Room

This was definitely not how she had imagined her life to be when she was still in college. Who knew that Aliens existed, or anything like that, she certainly hadn't believed in that sort of thing when she was pursuing her degree. Now, she was here, at the SGC, getting ready to go on her first mission through the gate since she got here. Of course, she had been wanting to go through the gate ever since she heard about it, and had been reading a few different things from other SG teams to pass the time until she was able to go out there finally.

She walked into the Briefing Room, nodding slightly at those already there, realizing that she was the last one to arrive and she gave a slight wave as she took a seat. Crystal listened as the General started talking about their mission, nodding her head slightly, just hearing what the others were even saying. Cassandra's remark about the what if scenario was not exactly reassuring, but she knew that there was a chance of something like that happening. Though she hoped to remain positive and convinced that it would not happen.

Flynn Jenkins

Location: Stargate Command(Briefing room)

Flynn had noded at each of his new team members as they arrived and listened to the briefing prepared by the general. All in all this had to be kept as brief as possible because they were short on time right about now, but it could have been worse. They at least had the folders with general mission and information data prepared in advance, so they could read up on the main points on top of what the general was saying and he did so, he quickly glanced over all the data he could. He pulled his eyes up from the folder as the science expert in the face of Cassandra Reed, asked how to proceed in case they were cut off from the gate or captured.

"Standard mission procedures apply in that case." Hammond replied and threw a look at Flynn since he was the team leader for hte moment to explain the rest.

"In case we don't reply within the scheduled time window due overpowering opposition, the gate will be dialed from Earth in attempt to make radio contact. We shall lay low somewhere and avoid attracting attention." Flynn explanied and looked at the rest of the team members." That's in case we cannot get access to the gate on our end. Alternatively if possible we are to force our way through any jaffa guarding it and escape. In the case of someone being captured, a rescue will be carried out with or without reinfrocements from SGC depending on the situation." He finished explaining to the others.

"That's right. SG-17, I trust the four of you will complete this mission. You weapons and other gear is waiting for you to be picked by the armory. Good luck people. Dismissed." General Hammond stated and stood up, heading for his office to deal with other important SGC running operations.

Flynn looked at the other 3 and nodded before speaking." Seems like we are trust into the deep end right away. I know that for the three of you this will be your first trip through the gate, but I can assure you it's not going to be the last. I've been part of the program since the very beginning. Just follow my leads and we should get through it without too much troubles for a starter mission." Flynn said with a reassuring smile." Now we are going there fully armed just in case, while Tok'Ra are known for their excellent stealth and infiltration, better be careful just in case. Unless I give the order, do not start firing though." He reminded them with a smile." Alright let's get heading to the locker rooms and change into our BDUs." He said and stood up, waiting for the others to join him." Any other questions while we walk?" He asked.

Cassandra Reed

Location: SGC Briefing Room

Cassandra looked towards Flynn as he answered her question and gave a slight nod, she gave the General a nod as soon as they stood up Cassandra stretched out a bit as she rubbed the back of her neck. Looking at the other two members of the team they had been surprisingly pretty quiet throughout the entire briefing which was weird, but she didn't say anything. Cassandra started to follow alongside Flynn towards the armory to get suited up.

"None that I can think of right now at least for me anyway." Cassandra said towards Flynn as she walked over towards the armory and then started to get herself suited up and ready to go. Cass looked at herself in the mirror of her assigned locker, she didn't really like the look of the clothes but then again she didn't really have a choice in the way they looked. She then started to grab the standard gear and weapons that they were given.

Crystal Hanson

Location: Briefing Room

Crystal was paying attention rather eagerly to this whole conversation. It was important to know what would happen in the worst case scenario, and she was glad that they had provided a decent answer to it. It wasn't the best situation to ever be in, but it could have been a lot worse of an answer. Like one stating, *Sorry, tough luck suckers, you're on your own, deal with it, no one is helping you.* That certainly would have been the worst answer imaginable in her mind.

She stood up after the general had left, and after Flynn had as well. Crystal shook her head slightly when he asked about questions. "Nope, no questions from me about it. I think this will be one hell of an adventure though. Kind of glad we are getting thrown into everything like that. The best way to learn is through doing if you ask me," she said with a smile, looking at the others.

“Alright, glad to have the approval of the two of you.” Flynn smiled as they were walking for the locker rooms and armory. He himself always felt a tinge of childish glee every time they were suiting up for a offworld mission. There was this sense of marvel to travel across the galaxy and see wonders like your day job.” Well you two are kind of lucky that you weren't part of the start of the program. Things weren't anywhere near as refined back then. Gate quite literally felt like passing through a flash freeze the first few times before they calibrated it.” He grinned as he put on the combat gear on.

“Doing is the best way of learning indeed, but nothing can prepare you for full blown combat situation with a jaffa hunting party. You won't be as enthusiastic when you start hearing the staff weapons blasts fizzling by your ears and impacting around you. Luckily a staff blast still moves slower than a bullet. Just take cover and don't show too much and we should be fine if we encoutner combat.” He laughed and shook his head.” Teasing of the newbies aside, be on the alert when we pass the gate. For whatever reason the universe seems to revel in turning even the most mundane missions of the SGC into tricky adventures.” Flynn said and finished putting on his combat gear and tactical harness and went to pick up his weapons.

“Since we are heading for a abandoned Goa'uld territory, chances are the locals are probably not aware of Earth's presence in the galaxy. Unless we encounter any Jaffa, it's quite possible we might not have to fire a single shot. Also I trust all of you have memorized the Earth gate's address and the GDO code to open the Iris?”He asked just for safety confirmation. Last thing they wanted was to go through the gate and disintegrate on the Earth's Gate's Iris.

Cassandra finished putting on the harness and looked at Crystal and Flynn giving them a smile and nodded as well. "On the job training is always the best thing." She had to agree as she started to make sure that everything was stored and had everything that she needed handgun in the holster securely. "I've memorized it so wouldn't be an issue." Cassandra also said giving Flynn a slight smile as she was ready and eager to go on their first mission together.

She shuddered a bit thinking of getting shot by one of those weapons, during her brief time at the SGC she had seen some videos of previous missions of their own getting shot by one of them. "So are we ready to ship out now?" Cassandra asked as she was getting a bit excited on going to an alien world in just a few more minutes.

Crystal followed after them, nodding her head. To be honest, she wouldn't have cared too much about being there when the SGC first started up and running, it would have been a marvel, an adventure just waiting to happen. She would have loved to have been there when everything started, but still, she was just glad to be there and included in the SGC now. It was still an adventure, and it was something completely new and different to her, so that counted for something.

"Yup, I've got that stuff all memorized, it wasn't really too hard to do that," she said, giving Flynn a smile as she grabbed everything she would need for the mission. This was going to be a completely new thing for her. She was used to going through languages and civilizations on Earth, but now there was a chance that she'd get to do that on another planet. Crystal couldn't help but be excited for this whole trip, and hoped they got going there soon.

"Alright, in this case we are completely ready to go." Flynn stated with a grin and started walking for the gate room." Once we are through the gate, we are going to be following along the road leading towards the settlement. Main directive will be to use the forest around as cover until we locate the Tok'Ra agent or they locate us." Flynn explained as the sound and light notifications around suggested that hte gate was being dialed. They would enter the gate room just as the fith symbol was being dialed in.

The gray huge gate was spinning, the sound of it being incredibly loud. It was truly a marvel of it's very own. He always enjoyed looking at the gate as it was being dialed. As soon as the seventh symbol was locked, the event horizon formed with the patented outburst forward." Chevron 7 locked." The voice over the comm system said from the control room.

"Good luck, SG-17." The general's voice was heard as he had as always arrived for the departure of the expedition teams. Flynn gave a nod and waved for the rest of his team to follow him to the gate. He walked with a calm step, having done this a lot of time in the past already. He knew well that the experience of going out there and seeing the wonders was worth all the danger. He smiled and stopped just before the event horizon, throwing a look at his team, wondering if they were feeling nervous about their first trip through the gate.

"I'm waiting for you on the other side." He said with a grin and stepped through. The familiar sensation hit him right away as everything shifted and changed. Then in the next moment he walked through on the other end. From the contained gate room illuminated by lamps, he suddenly found himself right in the middle of a lush forest. Up in the sky there could be seen a moon that was quite a lot closer than Earth's and then there was also the sun which was a slightly different hue of yellow. As expected there wasn't anyone present which was good. He stepped forward and waited for his team to join him.

"Alright, that works for me, and makes sense all things considering," she responded to Flynn's words with a smile. She was still really excited to get going, and was more than happy to follow after him towards the gate, where they'd be heading on their first mission. Crystal hardly heard the words of anyone else nearby, mainly focusing on the large gateway that was currently spinning. The thought of stepping through it to go to a completely different planet was mind boggling.

Nodding her head as she watched Flynn step through, she couldn't help but feel a slight nervousness settle in, as she glanced at the Stargate. Who knew what awaited them on the other side, but then again, there was only one way to find out. Slowly, she walked up to the gate, took a deep breath, and stepped through it. It was a strange feeling, but she managed to deal with it, or more of lock it in her memory so it wasn't so strange the next time around, and soon, she found herself on the other side. Crystal stepped away from the gate slightly, before turning to kind of look at it, before looking back over at Flynn. This was definitely going to be an interesting mission.

Flynn Jenkins

Location: P7Y-496: Gate location-> Forest

Flynn waited until Cassandra, Crystal and Evan arrived through the gate. He fixed on his baseball camo cap and cracked his neck as they stepped through and the gate closed behind them with the distinct sound. The surrounding forest was rather nice actually, the gate was located in what appeared to be a small clearing in the forest where the ground was paved with stone slabs and a cobblestone and gravel path led away from the gate in the direction of the local settlement. The fact how peaceful this place looked, was probably because of hte lack of Goa'uld interference for a long long time. With no naquadah to mine, the planet enjoyed a lot of peace. The air was extremely clean too.

"Alright people, we are going to be following along the path, but going through hte forest as I said for cover. Keep your eyes open, Cassandra, Crystal, you two follow after me while Evans, will take the rear." He said and turned to the other soldier." You keep your eyes open and remember no shooting unless I give the okey for it." Flynn stated and started walking and heading into the forest. Far enough deep to be somewhat hidden in the trees, but also close enough to the path so they could be on hte lookout and see if someone's on the road.

"Intel suggests that the local culture's similar to medieval Europe farming community, but without the whole Christianity and burning people on crosses deal." Flynn called and gestured with his gun at a stona statua that could be seen by the road through the trees. It was a representation of Ba'al." Anyway, Cassandra and Crystal, keep that in mind if someone starts talking about what women's duty should be and the like. Not sure it will happen, but we should try to not get into arguments. Also keep with the group... there was a case where then Major Samantha Carter was almost traded to a warlord by a local during one SG1's early missions." He told the other two, trying to see their reaction. It was an old case at this point, but hey he might as well poke at the newbies to see how they react.

Suddenly a sound of snapping fallen branches echoed around the forest and Flynn gestured for attention right away and started to search for the source.

Location: The Forest

Cassandra followed alongside the others to the gate room as soon as the final chevron was activated Cass jumped a slight bit as she saw the event horizon before her that was created by the gate. She was really tempted on just dissecting one of the gates someday to find out what exactly made them tick. "I got your guys back." Cass said, as she started to follow the rest of the team through the gate, a few seconds later then they were all on the other side on a completely different world that looked muck like Earth did except for the sun and moon in the sky.

She had her hands in her pockets as she took in the surroundings before turning to look at Flynn and gave him a slight nod as she started to follow his lead walking alongside Crystal. Then he started to mention some of the locals and a bit of history as well on an older mission and gave a slight nod. "I'll make sure to act like a good little girl then." Cass said jokingly as they walked through the forest and heard the same crack as well reaching for the handgun she had on her thigh just in case.

Flynn Jenkins

Location: P7Y-496: Forest

Flynn was rather pleased with the attitude of his new teammates so far. They were performing up to par on this and he was glad to have them on board. Having two civilians into the team had also the negative side that they probably lacked the military training to keep up as well in combats, but after a few skirmishes, they were going to be fighting as pros soon enough. That said this sound he had heard was a generally bad sign. Having gestured for the others to be on alert, Flynn focused on the direction of hte sound's source.

It didn't take long in view to come a rather bewildered deer that stared at them for a little while before dashing away into the deeper parts of hte woods." Well... that made me concerned for a moment..." He said, but didn't lower his alertness quite yet. The deer had to have been forced to move by something so it ran into them. Having a few more moments of waiting there was another sound, of people's chatter. It sounded like children and soon enough along the nearby road. It was a group of 4 kids, 2 boys and two girls around 12-15 years of age. They were carrying baskets with mushrooms and other different kinds of foragables.

Flynn tactically gestured for the others to pull back deeper into the woods. He didn't want to scare and alert the children. He could hear them talking, but he couldn't understand what. They were not speaking on english... Thus he threw a look at Crystal as the children were passing by and eventually gained some distance from them, heading for the stargate." Got any of that?" He asked.

Crystal just rolled her eyes slightly at what Flynn had said about the culture. She found things like that interesting, and considering what her job kind of was, it would be interesting to experience anything like that first hand in her mind, but she said nothing about it out loud. Following after Flynn, she glanced around as she heard the sounds of the forest, and branches cracking under the weight of someone. It made her sort of glance in that direction, hoping to see who it was before they ran into them personally.

She relaxed slightly when she saw that they were children, but what they were saying was a bit difficult. Only a few things she was able to hear, but she did know what they had said roughly, and she nodded her head. "Yeah, I heard it... Or at least some of it. They were speaking Ancient Egyptian... I can only give a somewhat rough translation. They were talking about how one of the gods descended from the sky, a servant or something of their god Ba'al. And they were curious about the flying thing, which I imagine is a ship, that had landed in the middle of their village, which is where it is currently sitting..."

Cassandra was still on alert they were on a foreign planet after all as she started to hear the noises as well coming from in the woods still having her hand gun out at the ready. She stopped and closed her eyes a bit letting out a slight sigh in relief when she saw it was just a white tailed deer. Which was also a bit weird, how was a deer here in the first place she was expecting more of an alien kind of creature. As Cassandra looked over towards Jenkins and gave him a slight nod as she started to holster her handgun back to where it was before.

"Wasn't expecting a deer to be on another planet." Cassandra said as she quickly quieted down again as she turned to follow Jenkins a bit so that they were a bit deeper in the woods. She could hear some kind voices, but Cass couldn't even make out the languages as they spoke, but they were certainly children's voices. "So I thought that the alien Ba'al wasn't here anymore?" Cassandra said looking over towards Jenkins for any kind of direction. "Should we retreat since it sounds like he is here?"

"You get used to it after a while." The older soldier replied to Cassandra when she mentioned the deer." I've been more curious why most worlds in the galaxy actually speak English, but no one had given me a proper theory so far." He said with a slight laugh." The fact those children are speaking a variation of Ancient Egyptian makes this world a slight peculiarity since most worlds have started to speak Enlgish at some point or another and even Jaffa Speak it..."

Flynn listened to Crystal with her translation and nodded. This information was within the acceptable bounds of the mission he then threw a look at Cassandra." No need, Crystal said it's probably a servant of Ba'al which should be our contact we've come to meet." He stated and gestured to the other solider in hte group." You go back to the gate. Stay out of sight and keep guard in case the gate activates again and someone else comes through." He ordered and the other guy quickly complied hurrying back towards the gate.

"Alright, we 3 are continuing forward. We shall sneak around to the village and check if there are any jaffa. If there aren't, we shall attempt to meet the servant of Ba'al and check if it's our guy." Flynn explained and waved for them to continue moving." The original plan called for them to arrive with no actual Jaffa cause this planet is supposed to be safe and well abandoned. The presence of Jaffa would be a red flag." He added as the treck through the woods continued.

The getting to the village didn't take too long they were there within 15 minutes of walking. It was on the edge of the forest so sneaking closer wasn't a problem. The village consisted of simple wooden houses and huts around a big center and in the center the ship could actually be seen. It was way smaller than the usual Goa'uld battleships so this was some kind of shuttle more likely than not. Similar to the one Osiris used to escape Earth. There were no Jaffa in sight patroling the village, but there was a pretty huge crowd of locals gathered at the town's square." Alright, we are moving in. If this turns ugly, first fire in the air a few warning shots. People here do not have staff weapons." He warned and headed towards the group of people.

She nodded her head, giving a slight smile towards Cassandra about the deer being on this world. What Flynn said made some sense in the long run, after all, on similar planets it was entirely possible that similar forms of life had appeared as well. Not too far fetched of a theory anyway. "Yeah, from what I was able to pick up, it sounded like it was just a servant of Ba'al. Let's hope we don't run into that guy though..."

Glancing over as Flynn continued with the game plan, she just nodded her head. Though it did worry her slightly, leaving just one person behind to guard the gate. They honestly should have had another person stay with him, but she also knew that splitting the party was almost always a terrible idea. This wasn't the best scenario for any of them since there were only four, but it didn't matter in the long run. As long as they completed their mission and didn't get thoroughly screwed in the process, everything would be just fine in her mind.

Cassandra looked at Flynn and gave him a nod, she wasn't sure what to think exactly or if they could even trust this tok'ra at all, but it was their mission after all. "Maybe they did some Noah's Ark kind of thing, taking some animals from home and put them on here along with people who spoke English?" They started to walk through the woods, she didn't like that they were leaving only one guy to watch the gate either but the team itself was very small anyway.

Fifteen minutes later they were at the edge of the forest near the village she could see the ship in the distance as well, and the wooden houses and huts that were in the area as well. It certainly did feel like they were back in time now during like medieval Europe, looking over towards Flynn and nodded at him. "Got it, ready to go whenever you are." Cassandra said towards him.
