I think they're saying that they hadn't detected anything. Besides, they even said they hadn't found it in the second paragraph of the article:

"No trace of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370 has been found since it vanished on March 8 with 239 people aboard."

I still hoping they find it on those islands between India and Thailand with the savage tribal folks still living there. And that there's someone still alive so they have to mount a daring rescue to infiltrate the island, rescue the guy, and not kill the indigenous least they piss off tribal-rights groups.

Because you know even BEFORE they launch the mission there'll be a helluva shit storm.

And then we get a great movie at the end of all this.
